    Video is still handy for a refresher course. I bought a replacement screen for my Dell. 6 months later it turned pink. I contacted the company. The gave me guidelines to check connections. I'm a visual learner. So I used your tutorial as a guide. My connections we're all still in place. So thankfully this company is a solid company. The other review s we're good. The company for sure seems solid. Your video for sure is a life saver. Thank you!!!

    Nathan this is one of the best presented videos I have seen in a long time. I have a Dell the same model as shown and the hinge on the right side has gone tight and cracked the plastic lid. So for fear of it ruining the screen I want to effect a repair. This video tells me exactly what I needed to know with nice clear shots of the operation. Well done !!

      Todd Belding did you use a hair dryer to soften adhesive? I can’t get my nails underneath the screen. Thanks

    • @RandomConfusion
      @RandomConfusion 6 лет назад +1

      Sorry for the delay. No, I did not. I gently used the can-opener blade of my swiss army knife to get just enough purchase to work my way around. I have sever wedge tools for monitor work, but none were fine enough to get in there. The blade was fine enough to get in there, but not so much to cut and/or damage things as long as you take your time. The adhesive tape slowly pulled apart as I went.

      Thanks a lot for the Video Nathan PH. I have the same Dell Laptop Model. For the last few days the screen is sort of "jumping" vertically up and down. Today I have connected the laptop to my Sony LCD TV via the HDMI port and there was no problem with the TV Display. It seems the problem is only with the laptop screen. What is the problem. Will I have to replace the screen ? Kindly Guide. Thanks.

    Nathan, Thank you for posting this video, I had to remove my screen as I was being asked if it was a 30-pin or a 40-pin connection, as I got the screen out I was able with a Magnifying glass to determine that it was a 30-pin connector. Now, in the past I have had issues with plugging back up the connectors, so are there any suggestions you have on plugging the new screen back up? That connection is so, so small and do you just lay it down, or do you feel a snap when you meet up with the pins correctly? It seems as if it just lays in and then you swing the locking retainer (the rectangular swing bar back down to lock it down and reuse the tape. The actual plugin is my ONLY problem when I am dealing with these delicate type of fixes, they scare me to death. I'm a 67-year-old retired DIY'r and try and fix whatever I can. Thanks again for making this video, maybe I'm just a worrywart, but that connection is SO delicate !!!

    Super cool Info.
    Super simple and super easy.
    My laptop's screen is flickering all the time. Is that the LCD problem or a should I need to change other parts of my laptop?
    Model : DELL Inspiron 15 3542.
    I ran the diagnose and every test including driver update and even OS replacement.
    But nothing seems to work on.
    So I'm ready to replace my LCD, but want to make sure it will be a good decision.
    If I purchase th LCD and replace it, then if it doesn't works...
    Then, it will be a waste of money.
    So...
    Flickering. Is it a problem that only has to do with replacing my Display???

    Hi Nathan:) I have the same exact laptop as the one you showed in this video and while you did not say why you had to replace your screen, I am hoping you can help me troubleshoot my laptop. I am basically having what i think is pink screen issues and some flickering altho it comes and goes. The images and texts sort of seem doubled vertically and appears pink and green, like the colors split. I have connected it to a tv monitor and display there was ok. I have also run the dell diagnostics and results said hardware was ok. During the diagnostics, the screen still showed the same issues. I have uninstalled the display adapter and rebooted and then updated driver but still same issue exists. Because of the current lockdown in my place, I have no way of bringing it to any Dell/tech shop. Any thoughts on what to do?

    Hi Nathan, I recently purchased a brand new Inspiron 15 3000 series touchscreen from Dell. I am extremely UNHAPPY with the display screen. It is is dim, dark, a bit blurry. Yes, I turned up the Contrast to the fullest. The audio sucks too, but I can live with that. However, I refuse to live with the inferior display. Until recently I have been using a 5 year old Toshiba (Laptop) from Best Buy and absolutely LOVE the display (screen.) It is bright and clear with outstanding (1080) definition, unlike my new Inspiron touchscreen, which seems to have 720 or less definition. Is there a HIGHER definition screen you would recommend replacing it with? Cheers, from The States. :)

    • @NathanPH
      @NathanPH  6 лет назад

      Hi there. I don't have much experience with the touchscreen variants so I can't really comment on the displays they use but I imagine it'll be a 1366x768 resolution panel (just over 720p) like in this video. However if you are looking to replace the display with a higher resolution version you'd also have to ensure you can source a new screen cable / wiring harness as this requires more cables/pins present for the increased amount of data that would be flowing from the motherboard to display. This is going to be the hardest thing to get and you have to ensure you can find the appropriate cable for your individual model machine.
      If you can find a upgraded screen cable and appropriate display I can't see any other reason a higher resolution display shouldn't work for you.
      Hope this helps! --Nathan.

    Hi Nathan, Great tutorial. Do you have a part number for the screen and where I could find one?

    • @NathanPH
      @NathanPH  7 лет назад +5

      Hi there, Thanks for the feedback!
      The screen that the Inspiron 15-3000 model uses is a 15.6" LED 30-pin one with the connector on the back at the bottom right.
      There are a LOT of possible screen brands you can use to replace it that will work just as long as they meet the above specs/details.
      The exact panel/screen I used in this video is the LP156WHB (TP) (A1) made by LG - there are also other model number variants of this that would also work fine.
      Your best bet is eBay to get a replacement, You could even just search "Dell Inspiron 15-3000 Screen" and get the appropriate part coming up.
      Hope this helps! If you need any more help or have questions feel free to ask.

      What about a Dell Inspiron 5558 replacement screen? Check the part number right? Where's that at?

      The part number or model of the screen/display will be on the sticker on the back of it once you remove it from the laptop. Hope this helps!

      Hi there. In order to upgrade the screen to a higher resolution you'd also need a new screen cable / wiring harness as this requires more cables/pins for the increased amount of data that would be flowing from the motherboard to the display. This is going to be the hardest thing to source as you'd have to ensure you can find the appropriate cable for your individual model machine.
      If you can find a upgraded screen cable I can't see any other reason a higher resolution display shouldn't work in your laptop.
      Hope this helps! --Nathan

    I have burnt marks into my laptop from what I believe is a mirror reflecting the sun onto my screen. There are two black shadows in my screen which are really annoying. Would replacing the screen like this fix this this issues, or do I need a whole need top of the laptop?
