Great video and info! Also don't forget that the 93 Cobra had a unique coolant pipe that ran along the lower intake on the pass side. It was different from the GT/LX in that it did not have another outlet for the coolant to go thtough the EGR spacer since there was none. The rear hose nipple at the rear of the intake on GT/LXs was plugged off as well.

one of my buddies in high school had a red 83 Mclaren convertible Capri, its one of the coolest fox bodies ever made, it also had the laid back windshield pillars painted the same color as the body. his had the optional body kit and saddle leather interior with the matching saddle color Mercedes Benz style soft top with painted to match red mesh wheels wich were originally gold. in the late 80s early 90's it was one of the baddest fox bodies around the Detroit area. his dad got it for him his senior year in high school so he wouldnt have to drive his dads 69 gt500 shelby to school anymore.

In those days the most requested high school car was the Mustang hands down, if you were a Senior and you had a GT you were definitely cool, Mclarens were different to say the least, i think the only thing i didn't like about them was that plastic rear window, i like glass on mine but if you were young and had a Vert it was always down, lol, the armrests were very unique to the car.

I owned a '93 GT, and was into Mustangs at the time. I remember coveting these Cobras, but there was no way I could afford one as I could barely afford my 'regular' GT. I lived in L.A. at the time and went to Universal Studios Citywalk and I parked right next to a Cobra R. It looked almost like the Cobra but its rear-seat delete and the 'R' wheels were a giveaway, and this was a time when these were new and I am fairly certain no one was making clone parts for them, not to mention being L.A. I am sure someone plucked down the extra cash to have one of the 110 or so they built, for exclusivity. The bastard...

I didn't hear it mentioned, but the vaccum tree on the firewall was used on 4 eye cars as well as 87-93 4 cylinder cars. The rear brake rotors and calipers are 87-88 Turbo coupe parts, I'm not sure if the axles are standard Mustang or TC parts, they maybe TC causing them to stick out further and required the special offset wheels which is why the front rotors are different than the GT's.

I had a '86 Capri 5.0 (it had no 'RS' marking, but apparently all 5.0 Capris were considered 'RS') and used to see a few of the convertible ones around the L.A. area when I lived there. Funny enough, I think my regular Capri was rarer than the ASCs, and those were rare, at lease in the the L.A. area. I bought it in the fall of '89 from the Ford dealer in Simi Valley, and since I was looking for a Capri for quite a while and could never find them, I started looking at the '85 or '86 Mustangs. I was so excited to see it advertised in the paper, that when I bought it I did not realize it had air-conditioning delete. I lived in the San Fernando Valley and it got hot in the summer. The fall is nice weather so never bothered to try it out. I regretted some of the triple digit summer days, but still loved that car.

Mark, that's NOT a Euro Coupe. Euros were de-contened ASC/McLarens lacking the McLaren-designed suspension which made the car MUCH more than the "just appearance package" you're saying. That car is a full ASC/McLaren Coupe, one of just 150 built in 1985. Eliminating a lot of great components let ASC drop the price about $1000--far less than the cost of said components so it wasn't a value. There were 47 EuroCoupes built for 1986, their only year of production.
The full Coupes came with factory 650lb constant-rate front lowering springs, 400lb constant rate rear lowering springs, adjustable Carrera 50/50 shocks and struts, and a host of other performance suspension enhancements. Euros WERE just an appearance package.
The key visual cue is the full stripe kit on this Coupe vs. Euros just getting an orange stripe down the middle of the bodyside molding.
