      Good call! I debated mentioning these because they were not available in the states and I have been told they were unsold 2001's that were shipped down for RHD and other modifications by Tickford (those extra fog lights are unique for sure). I should have at least mentioned them as they are part of the Cobra history.

    I had a '78 King Cobra, and while weak from the factory, it responded very well to aftermarket parts and tuning. Mine eventually ended up with a ridiculous 351C @475hp and 5spd stick! Family issues in the early 90s forced sale. It was a bit of a "sleeper" as, other than much wider wheels and tires, it was completely stock appearing...right down to the fading stripes! Another one of my projects I would love to have back!

When the 93 Cobra was released with its 235 hp 302, I thought they’d either under rated it or had u deer tuned it. Of course Ford conveniently the regular GT motor’s power was reported to be down by 20 over its original 225 hp rating. The best days of mustang are behind us. It's a matter of time before they're all electric and irrelevant so it's a moot point anyways. Modern day Ford love cashing in on shelbys name so you're right about the Shelby not going anywhere. The Mach 1 is gone with the s650 it's just the dark horse. The new mustangs with their locked down ecu and over the air updates are going to be a nightmare to mod unless you're ok using ford's cookie cutter approved tunes that really limit potential.

      @midnight347 Год назад

      @@JohnDoe-xl1ig dude the thing about the 99 cobra is way over exxagerated. It was a problem with the casting on the intake manifold and something with the exhaust. Most cobras got the fix which was a ported intake manifold that took care of the intake issue and a revised catback that took care of the exhaust problem that is all it was it isn't like they were down on compression or the heads were robbing power or something that is a big deal like that even if the cobra hasn't had the fix get your intake manifold ported and go aftermarket exhaust and you'd not only be making advertised power but well above it. At that point you'd be making the same exact power as an 01 with the exact same modifications. So the performance issue with the 99 is majorly overstated by most as they simply don't understand what the actual problem was they just know the cars were down on power so they get a bad rap. Most of them were fixed by Ford by now but even if they aren't it's a simple fix.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Год назад

      @@coltoncaskey5781 the issues are over exaggerated by people who don't really understand what the issue was to begin with people just know they were down on power so they got a bad rep. It's easy to fix the issue even if you do have one that hasn't already been fixed by Ford like most have by now. It was just an issue with the intake manifold castings and the catbacks that were causing power loss. All they did was port the intake manifold and throw on an revised catback that was all the fix was. So a ported intake and aftermarket catback which would be good mods to do anyways is all it takes to make it the exact same as an 01 with the same mods. Pretty easy fix. People act like they had less compression or a cylinder head issue or something else major when in reality it was a simple thing that was easy to fix. A 99 with ported intake and full exhaust will make the exact same power as an 01 with the same exact mods done to it.

    First car was a 1969 mustang Mach 1 and I loved the styling,look. Not a fan of the fox bodies! I now own a 2007 mustang Shelby GT with 10k on it , 5 speed, 4.6l engine. Plenty of power with the style.

    @CJ Pony Parts It's unfortunate that someone like this only does part of his homework. The 1979 Mustang Cobra was a one year car. Had an optional 302 unlike the weak minded 255 in the 80 & 81 Cobra.

    So basically like I always thought, mustang just sneaked away the Cobra name for clout. The Cobra is the Cobra the mustang has never been and never will be a Cobra. It's just a "custom" mustang same as every other custom mustang.

    The history of the Cobra should be seen as, At the beginning, they were affordable to today's over the top we hate you Americans so we'll make them so expensive you'll never own one.
