The funny thing is this happens ALL the time at women's meetings if there's another mixed meeting or men's meeting going on. There have been times, because they always say they can't stay, where I've been like (in my head), "but he is so attractive, why don't out meetings get out at the same time God damn it"

I feel like this skit makes fun of the hypocrisy of some women. Some women constantly preach independence & empowerment yet objectify & sexualize themselves simply for a man who is attractive. To a lot of women, a man will be given free passes and exempt from any wrongdoings if he is hot lol.
I really appreciated how Chloe kept trying not to look at them it really sold it for me

this will probably be the most viewed snl video for a long time. she is definitely fearless.
I'm an AA member in good standing. I have to admit this is scarily accurate. We call it 13 stepping. There is predatory behavior. Or those who replace their addiction with relationships. There is some self policing and unwritten rules about men only giving their numbers to men and women only giving their numbers to other women. Also those with a lot of time tend to look out for newcomers and try to shield them. We know who the predators are. There is a lot of this skit that would heavily frowned on in an AA meeting, but I can't say it doesn't happen.
Another unwritten rule. There are men's only and women's only meetings. You can show up to one of them if you're the opposite sex but its group conscious whether you can attend or not. Usually they're asked if they are in crisis, and if they are they're allowed to stay but asked not to share.
"Men with the men" doesn't quite hold the same gravity as it once did back when Bill W. was chasing the skirts. Particularly here in NYC - a gay woman might do better with a man for instance. But the principle remains - don't muddy the waters.
BTW when I was counting days I showed up at a women's meeting by mistake and some did kind of freak out. I said no problem and split but a couple followed me out to make sure I was okay and help me to find another meeting.
maybe i'm a buzzkill but this skit makes me really sad. AA is for people who are so beaten down and need help. addiction is really messed up and happens to anyone.
To belittle this down to "he ugly, kick him out, and he hot lets advance on him" in a time where people need help is... not cool. and then encourage drinking again? wtf

I like how they had Mikey Day's character at the end call them out on it. It's one thing to have a sketch that's just an excuse for the female (and sole non-binary) cast members to fawn over the handsome host. It's another to have one of the male regulars point out the hypocrisy.
