Well. Dupe them bullies by putting your BOSS KATANA in STEALTH MODE.
ALSO: The song you hear? That's my song Who Spilled The Beans by the great and powerful JACOB PERLEONI. It is streaming everywhere....

Easy boss katana upgrade.
*proceeds to disassemble entire amp*
You got me there. Buuuuuuut…. Totally worth it I’d say.
@@jacobperleoni8549people often describe things as easy but really they mean it is simple. Running a marathon is simple but that doesn’t mean it’s easy
It is easy to just undo a few screws?
That amp cover is beyond cool…AND it sounds incredible. I’ve never put much stock in brands/labels…it’s all in what the individual hears, and THEIR own taste! Love the video!
I replaced the front with a silver one and took the Boss sign off. Now it looks as awesome as it sounds.
I use a boss katana amp and play on a Squire, I can confirm they are both amazing.
To anyone who wants to get an electric guitar that sounds good, but don't have that much money, I suggest to get a boss katana amp and a squire. Don't listen to the gear snobs they think a song is good because of the technical stuff instead of how good the song sounds.
I love my boss amp, have the head ... this is a perfect inspirational mod, going to do similar. thanks man
looks great, nice upgrade
My first keeper practice amp, some P O S that had a 5 in speaker in it originally, has been rebuilt with parts from a DS-1 and another amp. Then I added that 8" Celesion speaker from the H B 5 watt amp. But before all that when I thought all I would do with this amp was throw it away, I started putting stickers on it. Never stopped and now it's all covered by some kinda R +R music, car racing or surfing stickers. To make sure I don't mess them up too bad I found a black pillow case that fits very nice to cover this amp. By the way it's built. I can lay it on its back to used as a on stage monitor of my sound and no one else can really hear it.
When people come to me wanting to learn to play, I always suggest boss katana as the amp to start with. Hook it up to a computer and it's possibilities are endless. I just upgraded to the Katana Artist head and 2x12 - spent all night having fun with it.
I wanted to do this to my katana, thanks for the tutorial man! Love my katana, it's such an unbelievable value.
Just wondering if it sounds any different with the cloth?
I want a tele deluxe. They sound so good. You lucky duck
I couldn't stand the looks of my Katana. Sounds awesome but looks sterile and industrial. First thing I did was re cover the grill. Easiest way was to just take off the emblems and cover over the old cloth and those metal straps too. Looks handsome now , and I could pull off my cloth and put it back to original easily!
Seriously.... the only people who don't like these amps are dirty hipsters...
Sounds amazeing and at a great price...
I have a 50w katana mk2 combo.
And i love it.
Great little amp.
Now that is some good content
Great tip. Thx.
Jacob, just wanted to say your song is GREAT, I didn’t read the description and used Shazam, until later I tried to remember where I heard it from, and went back here. Really love it!
Thank you so much!!!!!!! That is awesome you Shazammed it! Thank you so much for the support and for letting me know I made an alright song!
@@jacobperleoni8549 much more than “alright” my man!
Nicely done, I just painted mine.!
Looks dope!
I like your video. Did you consider your favorite fabric and spray glue?
Looks great! Also... video audio sounds slick through headphones.
I know I’m late, but… what kind of tubes are you running in that amp bro!
Love the tone !
👍🏽 nice, I think I’ll make my katana a sliver face 🤘🏽
Cool stuff man. Amp looks good !
Still sounds like a squire into a katana tho mate
But now you've shown everyone your secret!! Looks good
I’ve been using a Katana Artist combo on stage for a few years, and it’s great, I also run it into a Vox 2x12 cab, and it sounds even better. I might buy an Artist mk2 head and run them separately, but the silly price difference between a head and combo, means I’ll probably just buy another combo..?
It's not about looks. It's sound characteristics.
Oh……. It’s about looks. That’s rock and roll 101. Lesson 102 is how to wear the guitar. Lesson 103 is selling all your gear and getting another hobby
The Mazda Bongo of amps.
now you can say its a hand wired boutique amp
And put it right on Craigslist for $2,000! It’s genius.
@@jacobperleoni8549 🤣😃🤘
I like that! It looks great. Now if there was a way to make my Peavey Vypyr Pro 100 not look like a damn toy... And that thing wasn't even cheap.😄
Nice build, but it's a Katana. I'd skip the painstaking stripping of the grille. Just wrap it with fabric. Maybe punch some sound holes in the new fabric with a die-punch into a giant Katana kanji character no Gaijin guitarist is gonna be able to decipher. Tell the curious it's a boutique amp made in Japan by Shinto priests and snow monkeys high in the mountains of Hokiado.
I've got a Katana MK-1. I sold my Mesa Rectoverb 25 combo and kept the Katana. Much better gigging amp. Much better practice amp too. Thing was 98 or 99% of my Mesa with an Joyo analog Mesa pre-amp pedal in front of it, cost 1/10th as much, weighs maybe 1/2 as much, and you could throw it off a hotel balcony into the parking lot, and it will still work, and so what if it doesnt? They cost less than hotel rooms on Reverb.
Perfect amp.
Does this makes the sound more better
Can you tell me what type of material that is? My husband really wants to do this. It looks like a thicker material, like something used for apolstry but I wanted to make sure before I go purchase something. This is a fantastic idea BTW!
Hello! I just grabbed some cloth from Hobby Lobby! I’m not sure what type exactly, but it’s not too thick!
The problem with this plan is that the katanas have a very distinct cabinet shape and they are not obscure probably one of the most popular amps but it looks cool i have a white katana 100 mk 2 this would look so cool probably gunna try this mod
so, then you don't have to remove the power amp or speaker?
What type of cloth does he put ?
this vid is great and you are funny
Thank you!!!
2 min. in and I have to stop. Unhook the speaker wires!!!!
I hope you kept going!!!! The part where I rip them out is great television!
Tweed cover it makes it sound soooo good/s
Really nice work. Do you think Katana 50 is enough for gigging?
I'd say yes, of course. I bought the 50 but quickly traded up to the Artist MKII Combo and I've gigged it just a couple of times - 50 watt mode. It was excellent, and I can see the 50 itself being totally adequate in most situations. There's plenty of clean volume on tap. It's just a matter of dialing the tones. I think this Katana range of amps are nothing short of amazing.
Absolutely it is!! With the Channel switching foot pedal it’s ready to gig immediately!
I actually kinda like the original look.
Why didnt you pit the logo back
Of course - you could just get a used, 'burned in' Roland Cube instead. The Cubes were - and still are - excellent amps.
My other amp is a cube! It is also incredible but has that look to it that people judge straight away. But when I poke them in the eyes and then play, they think it’s a high dollar tube amp!
Good to know! What I did with my Roland Cube was to take off the plastic logo from the front grill and then painted the grill black. Now it looks like it might be some kind of obscure, hand-built custom amp.@@jacobperleoni8549
I've got a really nice hand wired Dr.Z Carmen Ghia clone head by "Vintage Tone Amps" with a 1996 Fender Custom Shop Tone-Master 2/12 cab, and honestly,....all I use is my MK2 100watt Boss Katana. It's just easier in every regard and sounds absolutely incredible. I did however, replace the stock speaker with a EV12. Made a pretty significant difference and got rid of that scooped tone the stock speaker provided. But,.....now I'm gonna have to change my grill cloth. Lol. Cause I'm never parting with it.
I would have gotten a piece of plywood, cut it to size . Cut a whole for the speaker and wrapped and stapled. Then you have the original untouched. Ez pz.
you didnt need to rip out the staples . could have covered the grill cloth .
😁
Did that… 15 quid on grill cloth. Chuck out the plastic corner pieces and put on CHROME CORNER PROTECTORS, cheap as chip.. Then change the handle for a leather one. Did that with plus fender grill cloth. Looks totally boutique and nothing like a katana. Also….. just put new cloth over the original…. The extra bulk makes up for fthe loss of the stupid piece of plastic.
That’s a great idea. Chrome and a leather handle would be much better.
Can you please share a link for the leather handle and the chrome corners? Were they a drop in replacements or mods were needed? Thanks

@@jacobperleoni8549 Great value for money, but because they are not American they are not 'cool'. But the build quality, playability and sound of Yamaha instruments is exceptional Japanese know how to make stuff that works.
Still looks like a katana, but a custom cloth is cool
Why didn’t you just remove front screws then apply your cloth then put in the same 4 screws back in, then call it a day???
The BOSS logo has screws tightening it to the frame inside as well as another piece holding it on place inside.
Well, I suppose it's because he didn't want it to look like complete shit.
@@Mikishotsyou’re the man and absolutely correct
It's cool that your family is cool with you being so feminine! With that suhwheat grill you can really "come out" on stage!
Edit: nice chops
Ouch! Damn😂
I have a katana2 50watt. I dont think its ugly. Its not a Marshall stack by any means but its a good amp.
Way too much work and chances for shit to go wrong for that cloth. I think you’ll get more sideways looks now than the original grill
Why care. Are you a poser fool
I am a poser fool! How did you know!!!! Who told you?
Now make it sound decent. Who cares what it looks like. Boss is way better at marketing than they are at amp building. I have played them and played with others who play them . They sound thin, shrill , and very processed. Ever seen any used at a pro level show or concert? For$ 400 there are some great combos that embarrass these things without a bunch of cheesy effects. If this is a compensated piece at least say so
I thumbs down you sir Edwin the wise.
Thin and shrill. Funny, that’s how your comment sounds.
@@davidluna3209 I thumbs down you sir David Luna.
A Katana...shrill?! 😂
