Honestly the white and purple onion are the perfect reward for something this hard it took me several attempts for each level
The purple onion goes a long way in helping to get enough purple Pikmin to carry the gold brick in Primordial Thicket, since it requires 1000 strength.
@@keithtorgersen9664 Not necessarily true. I just farmed purple pikmin from the caves (took about 15 minutes) until I had 100+ purple pikmin then I went to get the gold bar.

Thank you sir, for creating this guide. I doubt I would have been able to get through any of it without it. I found the most frustrating level to be the 7th story, because I had a really hard time keeping my Pikmin from dying.
I was STRUGGLING on the final one for over 5 hours, and on my most recent attempt oatchi was spitting out the onion when the timer stopped
So... All this time, White and Purple Onions DO exist!

The amount of dandori is insane
I found out that even if you don't have the whistle to automatically pluck Pikmin, if you Oatchi dash into a candypop bloom just after it spits out the seeds for the Pikmin you are trying to convert to, the seeds will turn into full Pikmin. Not positive that's intended but it saves a ton of time waiting for the animation and manually plucking. Hope this helps someone else as much as this video helped me.

That 7th Story has got me pulling my hair out. Always manage to get between 92 - 98 then run outta time. The little red bastards keep latching onto me or Oatchi 😅

A little disappointed that, as far as I know, the Sage Leaf appearance (color and face) is not unlockable. Totally should be if you plat the challenge

when I got to the final story, I immediately scouted around with the survey drone and then went "alright I got a plan this shouldn't be too bad"
and then 2 seconds after resuming I heard the falling noise and went "what was that"

Yeah, trial 7 and 9 were the one that took me the most to platinum. Eventually I understood that the secret to make 7 easy was split up with oatchi, but 9 took me so long. I barely did it by 1 second.

9 is so fucking easy, go for the two mama shesrgrubs, then porquillion, then snagret, then foolix, then emperor while using the first 2 candy pop buds.

I like that this is the only Leafling that wants to remain this way. Either way getting a White and Purple onion is very helpful! Now I don't need to go into caves to get more White and Purple Pikmin!

Well I hadn't 100% all the areas. Remember the cave that has access to those onions only becomes accessible once you completed Olimar's Shipwreck tale.
If one wanted they could do the shipwreck tale the moment they entered endgame.

@@ashlight6107last treasure needs 1000 pikmin, or 100 Violet pikmins tò say (90 if you count occin). It is quicker to do this 10 challanges than farming 100 Violet pikmins in the caves

Props for this man, 9 - 10 have been kicking my ass (I just barely got bronze and silver) because I didn't have the right strategy and this helped a ton for getting gold / platinum

The mysterious cave in pikmin 4 is the worst fucking thing I've ever played in the pikmin series.
And the fact you can get the WHITE AND PURPLE ONIONS, that I ALWAYS WANTED (but it's optional) just drives me mad
Before anyone says "Dandori Issue" I did beat it, before forming this actual opinion on it, it was in no way fun, the challenges are so goddamn unforgiving, like imagine the WORST possible thing you can think of and multiply it by infinity and you got what I had to deal with.
There's hard, and there's nigh impossible, and that's what that was.
I would GLADLY play Hole of Heroes again and again before I EVER set foot in that stupid cave once more.
Like, oh my god, what a horrible idea, if they ever make a pikmin 5, they need to make this reward more simple to get, because while it was worth it, it didn't make what I did any less of a living hell.
My first time, I wasn’t paying attention to what they actually wanted you to do. In the first stage, I kept trying to pick up every enemy to take to the ship when I didn’t even have to. So much wasted time.
Man I'm out here doing a million attempts and finally completing the stages with a second to spare
Had to do dig deep 4 times to finally even get it done, apparently I have a bad habbit of keeping oatchi stuck to me like glue to make the pikmin easier to control
Also the auto pluck would be nice, I need to unlock that first ig

I want to see if the ending is altered if one gets all the onions combined instead of the main onion and the purple and white onion are separate
i had all of the onions, and for me the seperate onions that appeared were the white and red onions, so it might be random?
@@stagelights_ It's random I had yellow and gray appear for me.
I also had white and purple shown, but after ending again, I had yellow and pink. I think it's a random two every time and we both just happened to be teased of the white and purple lol
I had all the onions except the purple and white ones and the 2 separate onions were in fact the white and purple ones. I tought it was a super tease but eventually I actually got them.
Some of the Pikmin and the single onions are random in the cutscene.

how do you pluck them with only the whistle? i have the power one but it isnt working
My ass didn’t know about the auto pluck whistle and line up trumpet before,so I kept attempting the challenges being as optimal as possible,like in the first floor I rushed with oatchi to hit all three dwarf bulbears and the big bulbear along with the reds doing half of its health and after shaking them I ran while purposely luring the bulbear closer so after grabbed the icees the bulbear had its back facing me so I can kill said bulbear with another rush on the return trip.
Sound convoluted?well that’s just one thing I did and there were way more things that were more complicated that I did just so I could save about two frames just to get gold anyways

@@james441 me too😂. I litterally finished it with zero seconds left on the timer . Did the same with story 7 and 8 as well. Not having that whistle that lets you skip plucking Pikmin in level 3 especially makes it especially tough

The trial of the Sage Leaf is so fun and interesting to play because there are different trials to go through and getting the Purple and White Onions allows us to choose from any type of Pikmin we want to!

19:41 I’ve been trying to do this one for three hours, I’m doing everything exactly, but it always ends in a gold or silver medal
I keep getting gold or silver on this one too, I’ve tried doing everything exactly the same on a few different videos
It really seems like the time for medals either isn't consistent or has been patched to be more difficult
Try cutting off a few seconds at the end by going back and getting your winged pikmin. At 22:47 he's looking at the top of a hill across a gap. Throw your winged pikmin there and let them take it the rest of the way, they'll cut a few seconds off at least. You could also dig out the onion in advance before the gate opens going in the other side

Cool! I was wondering if/when we get white and purple onion, in that, one of the rewards is fusing the 7th and 8th onion! I was stuck at 6 of 8. Though I wonder whats the point of purple and white this late in that most who do these bonus missions have beat the story mode, even 100% it. Also, I have noticed no reward for 100% every land. Though maybe there is something else I am missing to 100%, like completing Olimar Tale (I did!) and Sage Leaf (I have not!). Can u let us know if there is a pure 100% reward? thx
There is not a 100% reward sadly, the only thing I haven't done is get platinums on 2 of the sage trials but I heard there's no reward for them

I don't get how in the third level, the 10x yellow pikmin on the top of the hill aren't buried and you can just call them. I have to dig the tunnel and go up to get them.

I love just how much game there is, but it keeps dragging on in a way that’s WORSE than pikmin 2. I’m honestly stumped because with this game, everything is such a mixed bag for me now that I’ve done these trials, and some of the later dandori challenges. They’re honestly too much!
