I love the Gracchi brothers. They are braver standing up against the elites than any consul fighting a war.

We need more of that Gracchi Bros. spirit today. Plenty of elites need taking out with the trash.

These are some of my favorite videos; th consuls and adjacent political actors of the time lesding up to the Julius Caesar affair are so fascinating, and really the ones about semi obscure characters interest me the most. Althogh they didnt know it, almost every single person in Rome during this time would affect the lives of a hundred billion people.
We'll never know how different the world could be if this consul hadnt been exiled by a tribune, and I think that's truly unique

Interesting video about a unique individual in a time period that is often looked over

When is the next Byzantine emperor episode and also will this series go on until Caesar?

It probably won't be too much longer before Michael IV. The Romans of Renown series is not sequential, as I like to retain the freedom to move through time and pursue my interests in the moment. I am planning to cover the Gracchi brothers and more key figures from their era over the next few months. Caesar will be a multi-part endeavor.

@@ThersitestheHistorian ah I see, and ik the gist of what happened to the Gracchi brothers, but we’re they the last of their family/clan because I can’t seem to remember their family coming up again afterwards.

I wonder who the earliest Romans you could cover would be. I’m curious what records we have for earlier, like 3rd century BC. I know the city was burned in 200s BC but I’m sure there’s some records somewhere right?

    • @ThersitestheHistorian

Earliest? Maybe the Samnite Wars. That being said, I am not opposed to covering figures from the early Republic with the caveat that we can't really know much for certain.

I'd love to see more content about early republic figures(even if you need to speculate) as long as the framework of a story is there! Love your videos, cant wait to see where this goes

As a lover of Rome i ask one important question: Will there ever be a point where you know too much about Rome?

      The mic isnt important
