Then Jane demos how to layers theses colors from dark to light to create the effect. Jane , I’ve been following your videos for quite some time and enjoy it . Your art reminds me of one of my favorite artists , an Italian painter , Nicola Simbari 1927 - 2011. His painting ( Sylvie ) with the white dress comes to my mind.

You always start your painting with hoover green then you switch to white ...
Could you explain why?

I use the dark hookers green and then the white to pull out my darks and lights right away. Value is the most important part of laying out the painting.
