Yes please!! I’m 18 weeks and have been binge watching the mom reactions to their original videos and they’re hilarious but also SO helpful in reminding me how much crap I probably - definitely - don’t need to bring! Love your content and excited to get stuck into this video! Congrats on your gorgeous girl 😊
The theory with the comb squeezing is the same as the tens machine. When you flood your brain with “pain” in different ways it can only get a certain set of stimuli and your receptors will only accept so much stimulation. When you create new and different sensations at the same time along with the labor pain it actually distracts your brain and “lowers” the pain by specifically adding to the overall pain sensations in a manageable way. Like the tens machine doesn’t actually hurt per se but the brain registers it as pain! It’s so cool!
Oh man, if I were to give my past self advice I would say to do what you did and bring all the comfort things, because we were in hospital for 6 days and it was awful. I would have LOVED to have some comfort items with me. Thank you for sharing!
22 weeks pregnant and have been excitedly awaiting more pregnancy/labour/postnatal content! You definitely need to do an update on what you actually used during your home birth! Would also love to hear what you found most useful immediately post partum. Very cool watching this knowing it’s your sweet little Goldie you’re about to meet! 🥰❤️ thanks for sharing xx
The only thing I would have added for babe was water wipes. I know the hospital has wipes, but nothing compares to Water Wipes for cleaning babe and their behinds, but also for gentleness for their sensitive skin. Water Wipes and Muslin blankets (my 4yo still sleeps with one every night) are probably my most used baby items 😂.
those love and lore nighties are my FAV pjs of all time. they're SO soft and comfy. tbh, i'm fully over pyjamas with bottoms/pants, so i have several colours!
I haven’t seen or heard a mom who’s well prepared than u Karissa🥰, I wish I had this mind setting before I gave birth 😀 I just put all my stuff in a small luggage and when I went back to my hospital room my stuff were all over the place. This video is very helpful
Usually the hospital have a list of what they provide and what you can have access to if you don't wanna bring something you don't have to. It is quite helpful. I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and just did my baby's hospital bag. More fun than doing mine XD !!
Late watching. Some hospitals won’t allow many devices used like the diffuser (scent free policy) and my heated blanket was a no go? Which I used for my back labour while at home but was denied in my first birth. A lot of items a really nice to have but with Covid my second pregnancy I kept it all minimal so I didn’t have to worry about bringing the contaminated items back home.
Great video! Thx for sharing! I’m all for overpacking. I overpacked both times and used almost nothing but do not regret packing all my comforts. If I had a third I would still pack EVERYTHING! Lol We had a big cooler (because of covid everything was closed) full of food too. I would bring even more next time lol
Re some products Some hospitals have the peanut ball. Ours did. I used it. Worked great 👍🏻 That nipple butter is great, I still use it now as lip balm and my kids use it lip balm / winter skin irritation And the ice pads - our hospital makes “tea pads” which is just black tea bags in a pad. Takes away pain and inflammation - work awesome! (Can make yourself too) 🥰✌🏻
Hi Karissa Im from BC too, the hospital will have a birthing ball like a yoga ball, my cousin swore by it, I however hated it, I only comfort I found was doing deep squats and having my husband or the nurse help with counter pressure. Vibrator is such a good idea! Wish I had thought of that. I ended up having an emergency c section I really hope that doesnt happen to you but maybe pack some more clothes JUST IN CASE, we ended up staying for several days. Also hospitals will not have ice pads, just the normal post partum ones, and they wont have breast pads (not a big deal for most people but my milk came in fast and furious and I was leaking EVERYWHERE)
I always get tickled with new mommies hospital bags. I did the same thing with my first, with my second, I packed soo little. I know you delivered at hime, but I want to say, the food, such a good idea to bring to the hospital. I would love a reaction, hehehe
The fact that many of these things are unnecessary but she talks so proud of it makes me wonder really if she struggled with sth in her life. Many women delivered well and nicely without any of these so don’t worry if you cannot get all this stuff for your delivery. Keep the essentials
It makes me feel confidant to be prepared. I had a really wonderful birth and postpartum experience because of the effort I put into education and researching what & who could help me out / what product would be helpful. No regrets & I'll absolutely be doing the same next time around :)
hahahaha I didn't know if it would be helpful but it totally was! Gave me another sensation to distract myself with. It also made me laugh pretty hard when the midwife heard the buzzing vibrations through the fetal doppler monitor along with the baby's heartbeat.
Wish I had combs when I went into labour I tried to look for them while I was at home having contractions 🙈 but couldn't x also Clary sage massage on belly bought me into labour 😅
I don't think it's a baf thing to be overprepared and I am still very happy, you were ble to birth at home, not bringing everything to the hospital with you. How cute is the hat with GG?😍
Most ppl spend less than 24 hours in the hospital after a baby unless complications or c section. You will need diapers to go home. They use cloth at the hospital and don’t provide take home.
Did you end up using your combs or vibrator? Watched your labour vlog and didn't see them (probably wasn't expecting to for the latter haha) so was just wondering :)
My Doula brought spike balls so I used them instead of the combs! And yes to the vibrator! But not the one I show in this (It was out of batteries HA) You can see my pink lelo above my shoulder in the bathtub shot. It helped with a different sensation, but I was pretty late into labour by then. I may try using one earlier next time :)
I’m 26 weeks tomorrow, I better start packing now because this has gone by so fast and I KNOW the remaining weeks are gonna fly by as well. Ughhhh to have that Gucci hat for baby would be so cute! I still can’t decide what I want her to come home in. Neutral? Floral? White? It’s all so precious I can’t decide. We’re going with the Nuna car seat and stroller. We need to get that ASAP. I feel like such a dummy for decluttering all those random VS tote bags I had in my closet, I feel like one of those would have worked just fine for a hospital bag, now I have to order one :/
The extension cord is genuinely genius for any hospital stay! I also brought such a large snack bag lmao. Do you go to the hospital after a home birth by chance?
That was actually the one thing I didn’t think she was going to end up needing because hospitals have sooooo many outlets and usually attached to the bed or right above your head so your devices will reach to your table or just on the bed. If she only had a short charging cord it could be useful. But on the flip side she doesn’t need to bring power boxes with that extension cord, so it really is about the same amount of space!
Should I 'react' to this video & share what I used? :P

Same! I’m 35 weeks and I was anxiously waiting for more videos

This is the only level of preparation I will accept in any situation moving forward
* I gave birth less than 24 hours later *
Hoping it went beautifully and smooth!
Congrats! 💛💛
I can’t wait for that video to see how it went down!
Congrats. I never got my hospital bag packed for my second because I just kept putting it off 😬

Congratulations!! I've been silently watching since Saturdaynightsalright
Thank you! 💓
It’s always a good day when you upload!
I don’t intend on ever giving birth but girl I would watch you read a phone book 🤣
The 🥜ball was a lifesaver when I was labouring in hospital 🏥 💟

Okay the vibrator makes so much sense!!

I’ve been patiently waiting for your birth vlog 😭 girl pleaseeee ❤️❤️❤️
I’m particularly curious about the combs, because I just pushed out a 9 pound baby, with no meds, and some pain distraction would have been nice hehe
It would be awesome to see what of this you actually used and what you found helpful. And what you used and found helpful for home birth 😊
YAY! Karissa, I have loooved your pregnancy content. Thanks so much for sharing! 🙏🏽
Did you like that night shirt from Indigo? It looked so nice and soft 😍 the perfect thing to wear after dinner before bed 😴🙃
Love it! So soft

Not pregnant but this video was fun lol definitely buying that bag for myself 😂
LOL, the vibrator killed me 😂. Personally, that is the last thing I would have wanted during my labour.
hahahaha I didn't know if it would be helpful but it totally was! Gave me another sensation to distract myself with. It also made me laugh pretty hard when the midwife heard the buzzing vibrations through the fetal doppler monitor along with the baby's heartbeat.
Impatiently waiting for the birth vlog 😅 currently 36 weeks tomorrow and so ready.
can't wait for the next video!!! Love your content, been watching since 2016 :)
Spell touk? I've never heard it called that, so cute! ☺️
Toque! A French word. It’s what Canadians call Beanies!
Wish I had combs when I went into labour I tried to look for them while I was at home having contractions 🙈 but couldn't x also Clary sage massage on belly bought me into labour 😅
Omg girlll I’m pregnant too and am preparing for a home birth! Home birth gang we got this
Missed your videos 💕
Did you end up using the vibrator! Preparing for my second birth, i need to know!
I did! LOL
Me, listening but also just dying to see the birth vlog!!
I went to a hospital that's for women and they had the peanut ball. I honestly felt like it didn't help but that's doesn't mean it can't help you.
Wow! Goes to show different things for different people. I used it for hourssss. Was very helpful for me ☺️💓
@@KarissaPukas I'm glad it worked out.
I don't think it's a baf thing to be overprepared and I am still very happy, you were ble to birth at home, not bringing everything to the hospital with you.
How cute is the hat with GG?😍
hopefully everything is alright amidst everything stranger friend :)
What’s the car seat strap/ belt?? I’m having trouble finding it online.
It's called a Coco belt!
My stomach growled at the same time, I had to go back and see if I heard yours or mine 😂 also, would love to see a reaction video!

I guess it depends where you are :) I don’t think they give cloth diapers here.
Here in the US they do provide diapers 🙂

@@KarissaPukas thank you that's super helpful! I'm 25 weeks so starting to think about this kind of thing.
Anyone else click on this because you were curious about the vibrator?
Lol I did end up using it and it was helpful!

You typically don’t need to, but we did- as we needed to do a paediatrician check within 24 hours of the birth because of Goldie’s scan anomaly ☺️
That was actually the one thing I didn’t think she was going to end up needing because hospitals have sooooo many outlets and usually attached to the bed or right above your head so your devices will reach to your table or just on the bed.
