Sigma has really been stepping up their lens game for sure these recent years!..as a Sony shooter..I now look to them as an "alternative" to native Sony glass...Since Sony is not giving us an 85 1.2 GM anytime soon I hope Sigma does and update! or I know Viltrox will have an 85 1.2 for sure way before Sony does!..haha come on Sony where is the 85 1.4 II GM already!..
the difference between the Sigma and the Sony GMII is in the weight and the cost. If cost is not a big thing, then get the Sony, it's lighter. For a walkabout lens, the weight factor is critical. Especially when hung around the neck.
F4 is plenty for daytime / lit street photography if that's what you're worried about. If f4 isn't enough f2.8 probably won't be enough for low light. So a prime in supplement would work well.
Why am I focused on the focus breathing when you walked away? I think that at this point, Sigma is a great first or second option for most professionals. The fact that you can’t tell what lens it is speaks volumes.
Nicely done video as always, great information, I noticed at the beginning of your video, you were using black camera bag. It looked like good bag, that wasn't too big, but could carry a lot. what is the name and size of the bag? Thank you!
I have Tamron 28-75 and bought this Sigma lens when I was released. I have to say, the picture quality is unexpectedly good and the extra focal length on wide is attractive. It's quite heavy but I'll travel with this lens soon so I'll see how it goes.
I thought you make a living doing these RUclips videos that include product reviews. I mean you check out new products all the time. So of course you don’t say no if Sigma asks you to check out their new lens. 😉
You feel distracted and detatched, maybe you should make a small intro to the video then shoot with the lens as a review, this kind of talking head when you re so distracted isn t fun to watch and looks painful for you to make
Good review, thank you. Only you didn't say anything about its safety and protection from dust and moisture. How does it behave in difficult situations where there is a lot of dust and rain?
Thinking of changing to Sony and having troubles with lenses, But I thought the sigma 24-70 is E mount, yet you have it on a A7 camera which is FE mount(Full frame), Does that now mean you have gone to cropped sensor mode, which is less pixels
Compared to the original Sony 24-70 GM how much better is this one? I’m looking to buy a 24-70 and found the original 24-70 GM at the same price as the New Sigma 24-70. Which one would you recommend?
Hi Manny. Did you do much testing of eye autofocus? Tony Northrup had a lot of trouble in his eye autofocus test but no one else seems to report this. Thanks!
I stand with Gerald Undone on this. Gear reviews need to change, but that isn't on you as the youtuber, there are just not enough differences in quality these days to make a review in a few days. Need to have time with them to really get the little nuances out of them. There is still need for reviews though.
Hope you are OK. It seems like something happened before you started recording this video. It's ok not to be excited about a lens view, but you seemed especially down and very low energy. You always do an amazing job and provide incredible, valuable, and real world information and samples. You provide the details and add your personal touch to everything you put out. I'm nobody and certainly not a doctor, but find time for yourself whenever possible. Thank you.
This review (especially the ending) was SO fantastic. I understand 100% how you feel about it and how I should feel about it. Well done, sir.
Good video, I'm already sold on it. So I had the Sony 24-70 version 1 and I was holding off on version 2 but now I'm going to Sigma!
Mom always saves the day🙌🏼
Best ending ever. ❤
I appreciate the straightforward blunt honesty. That's worth a sub and a like.
Oh what I wouldn’t give for an INTERNALLY focusing 24-70mm F/2.8 lens…Great upload as always! 🙌🏾
Dslr.....😂
What would you give ?
I know its heavier, but its nice that its the exact same length as the GMII.
Only 40g heavier than GM II. Not that noticeable.
who care? budget vs expensive? eh
tomorrow i will shoot a yoga event with this setup plus 105mm 1.4 sigma the holy bokeh. wish me luck guys.
How did it go?

Wait… you don’t use 24, 28, 35, 50, or 70mm focal lengths that often? 🤔
I thing you finally found the outtro you need to do from now on.... just put down whatever's in your hand and walk away, mid thought/sentence. 🤣
Awesome review. Any attempts with video?

Maybe you need to start hitting the gym instead huh
Can’t decide between this and the 20-70 f4 sony. Ive got the 35-150mm but want something lighter for general/street usage. Any thoughts?

Does anyone if this lens focuses better video wise? The version 1 was awful for video!
I have the Sigma 28-70. It’s sooo light if you don’t mind 28 instead of 24mm.
better tamron 28-75 g2 than it
Award for best video ending, ever!

Anyway fyi when u showed the lens side by side comparing the size... it is out of focus 😢
this video was well orchestrated and the ending gave me depth sensation. nice quick video getting straight to it thx
I bought it last month for my a7 iii, game changer.
I just bought it May 31st! Yes game changer for my a7iii too😅
@@jbello9398 which lens to you both for a7iii?
Saw that the homie Manny dropped a video and had to click on the link 🫡
I already know this lens is about to be ridiculously crisp
Is this lens good for sony a6400 ?
Crazy, I was just thinking about this lens. Thinking about getting one.
Sigma fixed the frame rate now i think and they are equal to Sony on the A1

Best end of a lens review video. Ever.
Like your way of thinking, attitude and input, thanks from Cologne!
Which camera bag do you use?
Mom always comes through when you least expect it lol
if I already have the SONY 24-70 GM first gen, should I buy the Sigma just for weight reduction?
The original is still awesome!
hope you are doing alright
Question for videographers, which one would you choose, Sony 24-105 f4 OSS vs new sigma 24-70 mark 2 f2.8? btw I’m using a Sony zv-e1, thanks!! 🙌
Buying 35mm and 85mm or 24-70, which is better?
I love my sigma for canon lenses. I've got 35mm, 85mm, and 70-200mm

Thanks for an honest review.

Lol the only moment this guy is hyped about is talking about sponsor square space haha
what about for hybrid shooters...how much better will the image stabilization for video be on the GM vs Sigma/Tamron
Wow 😮
I appreciate you so much for this review! Sigma isnt going to be happy but dammit I love the truth 😂

The lens is Emount and so is the camera
Sigma is 99.9% same as the Sony if it was the Tamron then il say there will be a slight difference just my opinion
have the GM2... luv the weight and size with the image quality (on A-1), the Sony looks wider too
It’s always that fomo for real
We live in peak times when it comes to hardware. The question is not about the quality of hardware but what camera/lens combination fits me best.
I love your reviews. Short and sweet. And you're right that pixel peeping is overrated.

I’d recommend the Sigma. In fact, I’d even recommend the old Sigma over the original GM.
I like the dramatic music choice
But for video or vlogging?

Would it be worth upgrading from a Sony 24-70 GM I
Yes

How about video
I like the End. 🙏🏾👍

No IS?
the question now is, Sigma v2 or GM v1?
I chose the V1 sigma over the GM. The V1 to me was better already, and now the V2 is a tiny bit better than the V1.

Pretty clear from the video it's the a7rV
thats an a1
Main issue for me is the 15fps cap.
The GM lens can do 120fps and is way more future proof for this reason.
