Thank you. I'm having the exact same issue right now with my Yamaha Drive 2. Not sure if this is what my problem is, but it will sure be the first thing I check.

That's awesome. Yeah it seems to be a common problem with these carts. Doesn't solve the problem every time but after working on them for so many years six out of 10 times that's normally the problem is a bad connection. Thanks so much for tuning in I really appreciate it.
Thank you for the information, I want to ask, I have a fairly new club car. And after I got on her, she hung up and stopped working, what could be the problem, and what can be done.

2002 Ezgo that starts and runs, but after it’s warmed up, if you stop, it won’t start again until it sits for about 10 minutes. Could this be the problem, or do you have an idea of what it may be? Cart hadn’t been driven for the last few years.
My g16 starter is firing up but no engine fire? One day it will work for a while then stalls and no engine fire just starter. New carb, gas filter, fuel pump all amazon parts? I even put high test gas in? The gas filter only fills about 1/4 full? Not sure if electrical or other. New pedal switch as well? Help?
Maybe you could help. I have a 2005 yamaha G22a that I bought from a golf course and every now and then when youbstep on the gas it makes a really loud squeeling noise and doesn't Start. After a few tries it will start. Doesn't do it all the time but when it does everyone knows it because it's really loud. Any idea what that could be? I just put a new battery in. Thanks.
Sounds to me like your belt is slipping. There have been cases I've come across where the belt is actually too tight there should be a lot of play in your golf cart belt they don't go tight like cars do they actually are pretty loose. When you step on the gas the clutch should engage and close and that grabs the belt which is why it does not need to be tight make sure there's a lot of play in the belt. I would take the seat off kneel down on the car and put one foot on the gas and look at the belt without hurting yourself of course in case it takes off and make sure that clutch is grabbing the belt and if it is is the belt still slipping
Hello Rob, my son hit a pothole. My Yamaha drive 2 run for a while then it stopped. Now when I turned the ignition, and there is no power. Battery is good, connection is good. There are four fuses, They all look good. What souls I check. Any help is appreciated.
I'm assuming you are probably talking about an electric cart? If so the most common culprit with that is over time the batteries aren't holding a full charge like they used to and therefore you will have less power output. Think of it like a flashlight when the batteries are not fresh the light is always dimmer compared to when you have brand new batteries in there and it's really bright.. also check all the terminals make sure they're not all corroded and stuff that can affect your power output also. I would start with getting a voltmeter and checking all the batteries and cleaning all the terminals and see if that makes a difference at all. They're not taking a full charge maybe service the batteries make sure they are all topped off.. all it takes is one bad battery in the chain to affect your power.
Would a bad connection there cause the inline fuse to blow? There's a fuse under the cover where the solenoid is, 20amp and I've replaced twice. Should it be larger?
Thanks for the tip. Found this problem on my buddies cart. Stater is only a year old. Problem was loose connection at post. Tightened nut, still keeps working loose. After several times tightening nut post is now stripped. Any advise?
Hi my cart is electric. Yamaha G29. 2013. I replaced the solenoid and when I press the pedal it goes to the floor with no sound. Also no Click when I sit down. It's gotta be something simple. Batteries are good. Help. Thanks
We did this and it worked. Next morning it cranked, ran, then nothing. Rotating the belt, forward then back, it started, then stopped. Does this sound like starter/generator is bad? Maybe brushes?
Hey Rob, great video. I have a 2011 Club Car DS, I've been experiencing the same problem with the exception that sometimes you don't hear the solenoid clicking in and out. Usually after I let it sit for a bit and turning key on and off and putting it into forward and reverse I can usually get it moving. Then it may go a month of more with not problems what so ever. I have had it cut off while driving on occasion too. I even took it to the guy who built it for me and he kept it almost two months and could never get it to repeat the problem. He did tighten a few connections at no charge and I brought it back home. Had no problems for about a month and a half and now it's doing it again, just yesterday as a matter of fact. I'm thinking maybe the switch or possibly a solenoid problem, any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I would certainly look into changing the switch. But it does sound like there is a bad connection somewhere if it is happening sporadically like that. Start with the switch and let me know how that works out.
I have a 1996 Club Car Tranquility and it makes a clicking sound when pushing on the gas pedal. If I put it in reverse it still makes the beep sound. I replaced the siloed and it worked for a while. Know it is back to the clicking sound and doesn't turn over. What do you think?
If you change the solenoid and the golf cart immediately started working again then I would assume that you are in the right area. Perhaps you got a faulty solenoid or I would check your wiring to see if there is something that is loose or corroded or something that may be affecting the solenoid but if you changed it and everything started working then it sounds like you're in the right area already. Keep me posted or send me some more details. I really appreciate you tuning in thanks a lot.
Greetings, I have a club car xrt 850. It starts to run the pulleys but the engine does not start. It is as if the engine did not have power to start it, thanks.
Absolutely. With the battery cars there's a lot more connections that can fail. Majority of the time with these carts it always comes down to a lot of loose connection points. The carts are not very great suspension wise and when hitting bumps they shake and vibrate excessively. Overtime a lot of these connections will break or become loose so the first thing I would do is just start going through all of your connections and wires carefully making sure that none of them are brittle or broken or loose. I've worked on over a thousand golf carts and 90% of the time it comes down to a broken wire or a loose connection whether it be gas or battery powered.
I have always had electric golf carts until my dad passed away in November. He left my son his Yamaha but it’s gas powered. The tires will go forward, and reverse, but will barely pull itself both directions. It’s like it won’t completely start up. ANY info is greatly appreciated
I had the same problem. Changed out the connection. And it still dose the same thing but if I hook a jump box to it it will crank up most of the times and run until I stop. I want to take it to a shop but I don’t want to get robbed. What do you suggest. Bad alternator/generator?
The ground wire had 1 meg of resistance. The positive wire had 30 ohms. I replaced it. The starter generator had been checked by a shop and they said it was fine. After replacing the wire, it still would not run. I checked the starter generator by wiring it directly to the battery and it would not run. It apparently has an intermittent problem. Cost to rebuild it was $150. I bought a new off brand for $134. If the cart were not so old, I probably would have bought a Hitachi starter generator but I think its life nor mine are not too long anyway. I am 75. LOL
My buddy had a yamaha G29 and I just put new brushes in it. We hooked everything up and now everytime we hit the gad pedal it blows the fuse. Any idea what it might be?
Did you purchase a solenoid for the golf cart is it a automobile type solenoid or did you get it from a golf cart dealer. Is it a continuous duty solenoid? If it's not the solenoid it could also be something in your wiring it sounds like I've had this issue before with a cart I would start looking around under the panel where the key switches sometimes these wires touch or get stripped out or melt and I've had at least two or three cards with bad wiring around the key switch that would cause it to short out like that.
Hi My Yamaha G19E , will not start once batteries were replaced. Has power as horn and lights, blinkers work. Just not starting. This is an electric cart.
Usually if you have a short or if the starter was bound up then yeah sometimes you would get some smoke possibly but if the wire is broken then you may not see any smoke at all in that case
