...and in which band is the drummer playing now (-after Charlie’s dead)? Completely logical as Keith’s always been the musical leader of the Stones. The business and the songwriting he shares with Jagger...😊
Great to see / hear Keef rocking out & just having fun on a terrific version of 'somethin' else'. After all.... having FUN is what rock & roll's all about!
Eddie Cochran was very special his life ended to quickly, and so many years after his death he left behind so many great songs in such a shot time span and bands like The Who, The Stones Led Zeppelin have played his songs live on stage just too make us know how great his music was and still is.....
I was in the front row for Keith's / Wino's stop in San Francisco in 92, they opened with this song.....I wish I could take it all in, it was so much, no phone cameras back then.
This proves that Keith is and always has been about having a good time, giving props to those who came before him and spreading smiles. His rep as a drugged out asshole won't leave him alone but it aint really him.
@@dcr9233 Yes, he died in a crash. I'm not sure who was driving or exactly how it happened. Gene Vincent was in the same car. He was injured but survived.
@@susanaltman5134 Thank you Susan. I'm a big fan especially of the track Something else but I know very little about his life or how he died. Happy NY to u and yours
@DC R they where heading back to the London airport by taxi from there last show at the Bristol hippdrome. They would have gone by train but Sharon Sheely (Eddie's girlfriend) said that Gene Vincent got them a taxi and wanted to be there faster. Anyway he kept insisting so he got his way. The investigation says the cause was speeding, but it was 1960 at night so light was scarce. They crashed into a concrete pole and Eddie threw his body over Sharon to protect her and they all where thrown out of the car. sharon had some badly fractures. Gene had a broken leg that would left him limp for the rest of his life. People that witnessed the crash said that the road was full of music pages. Sharon was with eddie in the ambulance and said to the driver where in love and he locked there hands together. Then she fell oncunsious while she wished in her mind dont let me fall oncunsious again because i wont be seeing him again. And she was right. she was in the hospital for months while eddie died a few hours later from a head trauma. Gene offered the doctor 10k to save Eddie's life but it wouldn't help. In total 9 doctors tried to save his life.
Proper homage to a rockn roll icon and rock n roll song . he totally got what Eddie was saying. You can see him ' feel' the song . " she is something else" , " sure fine looking man its something else" . he's got the rock n roll roots to tell us this song . probably looked up to Eddie as a rock n roll icon then became one .
that's just brilliant. love Keiths version. and as for keith being a junkie, yes he was once, so was hendrix, morrison, joplin, parsons, jones etc the list goes on. but when keith performed this he was off smack.
Why bother to compare Keith's version against Zeppelin's version against Sid's version. Just enjoy this for what it is - a group of world class musicians ripping it up on the stage, enjoying each other's company and paying homage to a true legend.
Keef pulled this off real well. Robert Cray's solo and comping ripped. However, every band needs a Steve Cropper in it. I imagine every cat that plays with Steve Cropper (no matter what instrument) feels at ease. Cropper is the guy with the big picture in mind...all the time.
the winos opened with this one in toronto '93..set the mood for the hottest set i've ever seen...keef's sure fine-lookin man...he's somethin else. there's a video floating around somewhere from boston '93 with this song..definitely worth posting if someone has it.
Before any of you start slagging off Keef's rendering of this song ask yourself would you get up there and try it? Anyway our Keefs a national treasure and we love him warts and all
@765tony Hello 765tony, Yes, you can see them performing this live on the official live DVD release that came out in May of 2003. The 1970 performance at Royal Albert {part one} has the brilliant cover of "Something Else". Also on the official CD release of the BBC sessions there is also a version of "Something Else" on that. In all reality Eddie Cochran's version is the best but as far as someone covering it, the Blimp rises way above the rest. Hope this helped, Paneeks/Boston
Much as I love to see Eddie remembered by as great a legend as this, Keef's version doesn't quite have the punch of Eddie's classic rock tune. Eddie was somethin' else.
That was heaven! Keith, Robert Cray, and Steve Cropper. That's something else!!!
Keith Acknowledging his roots Just Brilliant ...
What it proofs most is rock 'n' roll actually never got any better than classics like this one!
That is a great tribute. First time I've given a thumbs up to a cover. Keith RIchard rocks, great talent.
Anything Keeeef does rules
Great beat-fitting tribute to Eddie Cochran.Eddie was so cool. This version rocks.
Totally cool! Keith is right in his element here.
Keith is something else and so is the drummer; brilliant
The drummer is Steve Jordan. He's now sitting on Charlie's drum stool.
Yeah. And who is that drummer playing for now...?
...and in which band is the drummer playing now (-after Charlie’s dead)?
Completely logical as Keith’s always been the musical leader of the Stones. The business and the songwriting he shares with Jagger...😊
Keef always spoke highly of Eddie Cochran .... as one of the first REAL rockers I wouldn't expect anything less from the classy Keith ....
Great to see / hear Keef rocking out & just having fun on a terrific version of 'somethin' else'. After all.... having FUN is what rock & roll's all about!
Exactly what I thought !!! BAM BAM!! ( ps I must look up the lyrics sometime!)
This is a great tribute from one rocker to another.
Keith will always be Keith and this is a super tribute to mr. Cochran...thanks!
He absolutely nails it indeed. Well said.
Absolutely awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing quite like Keith!
Thank - you Kieth - this song prooves that you are the most underated singer of all time.
Oh Keef you are and always will be a legend - you do justice to one of the greatest rock and roll records of all time - bless you Paul (Isle of Man)
Keith did a good job on this Brilliant song.
Eddie Cochran was very special his life ended to quickly, and so many years after his death he left behind so many great songs in such a shot time span and bands like The Who, The Stones Led Zeppelin have played his songs live on stage just too make us know how great his music was and still is.....
Keith Richards is so cool and such a great musician/singer.
Fantastic cover! Keith looks good in this video too. Awesome band!
great job Keith. You done Eddie Mighty proud.Love ya man !!!
I was in the front row for Keith's / Wino's stop in San Francisco in 92, they opened with this song.....I wish I could take it all in, it was so much, no phone cameras back then.
Awesome!
Keef is the universe rock and roller ❤
Ese keits Richards es el último de los guitarristas clásicos .eres grande keit
Eddie Cochran would be so proud of this..❤❤❤❤❤
Great, grat fun! I love this rendition! Thaks, Keith.
BRILLIANT version!
Keef is and always will be the RocknRoll soul of the Rolling 🎸Stones!!!!
This proves that Keith is and always has been about having a good time, giving props to those who came before him and spreading smiles. His rep as a drugged out asshole won't leave him alone but it aint really him.
Long live Keith!❤️
Awesome, great driving version. Keef looks like he's having a blast.
Listen to Eddie Cochran do this. Only 21 when he died. What a Superstar 😇
no one can match Eddie's original.
I did not know he went so young. Tell me please. Did he crash a car or something?
@@dcr9233 Yes, he died in a crash. I'm not sure who was driving or exactly how it happened. Gene Vincent was in the same car. He was injured but survived.

Uno dei più grandi artisti al mondo.
l sure would've loved to been there. I'm an old Richards fan and this really shows off his talents, including his showmanship.

Love the music! Love him!
Hey, the man can still rock . !! He can rock me anytime .
Keith bringt es mal wieder! Den Song mochte ich schon immer und Keith sowieso!!!
that's just brilliant. love Keiths version. and as for keith being a junkie, yes he was once, so was hendrix, morrison, joplin, parsons, jones etc the list goes on. but when keith performed this he was off smack.
Eddie Cochran ....Se foi aos 22 anos... Bastou para deixar se nome no roquenroll... Viva Eddie!!❤
Holy Crap!!!! This Song Rocks!!
Great to see a stone respecting the great Eddie Cochran
it's always fun listening to keith. long live keith
Why bother to compare Keith's version against Zeppelin's version against Sid's version. Just enjoy this for what it is - a group of world class musicians ripping it up on the stage, enjoying each other's company and paying homage to a true legend.
Keef the coolest person on the planet!
Keith at his best who needs mick
Eddie rocks and so does Keith
Eddie Cochran OWNS this tune for he did it first and the best. period.
How can anybody 'dis this version with class musicians like Steve Jordan, Link Wray, Steve Cropper on stage? Keef ties it all together very nicely.
Link Wray ?????
And Robert Cray.
Keef pulled this off real well. Robert Cray's solo and comping ripped. However, every band needs a Steve Cropper in it. I imagine every cat that plays with Steve Cropper (no matter what instrument) feels at ease. Cropper is the guy with the big picture in mind...all the time.
OMG this is freakin awesome!
Have to love Keith! And he looks like he is having a ball!!!

I agree , both versions are great!
A great homage to a master.
...from another master!😊👍
Never ever seen or heard this before.
Quite an amazing performance.
Approx date??
Thanx for posting.

It was in Sevilla 92 with the world Expo.
Keith just LOVES great Rock n Roll.
RIP Eddie Cochran (terrible waste of life and talent) and long live Keith :)
Keith the master.
Before any of you start slagging off Keef's rendering of this song ask yourself would you get up there and try it? Anyway our Keefs a national treasure and we love him warts and all
Keith opened with this when I saw him with his the Xpensive Winos way back when...amazing version...
Man is he havin some fun here...great cover of a great tune...Keefstheman foe shore
Keith does several versions of this classic this poss the fastest but all great
This song called something else listen to a lot of 50's songs well this song from eddie cochran was really something els
Steve jordan on drums, Charlie Drayton on bass (both from the X-Pensive Winos), and yes that is Robert Cray & Steve Cropper on guitars.
1 of 3 Fender Starcaster Basses built in the 70's. Look closely. There was another Burst that burned in a fire, and a Natural one out there.
love this version
Everyone is free... But listen to the original too... it's... somethin' else!
Keith does a fantastic job of Eddie Cochran's song..
Raymond U.S.A.
Eddie, Led Zep, Sid Vicious, Keith. Wow, everyone loves this song...myself included!
exellent cover by keith absolutally wonderful
Well, well, well!
Keith Richards is the image of modern day Rock & Roll!
When he plays "other's music; he shows them respect!
Holy shit. This is just grrrrrreat!!!!
Yo Keef,
thank you for playing
T A.
love ya.
um, Keith Richards is a rock'n'roll legend. He can have a cover of any rock song that he wants to.
Robert Cray !!!!!
Da wird der Hund in der Pfanne verrückt! Klasse!
It's only Rock N Roll guys. But Keef does it better than most others.

Nice effort Keith
You should go far
This is even better with the Xpensive Winos on tour in Boston. Probably not available for posting here.
thank you Keith you got it...Cochran
Awesome tribute
Trust the British to remember the American rockers. They seem to be forgotten here in the US
This is music 👌
Geweldig !!!!
fantastic
I second that Zeppelin's version was truly the best that has ever come out so far. It kicks and kicks...
Much as I love to see Eddie remembered by as great a legend as this, Keef's version doesn't quite have the punch of Eddie's classic rock tune. Eddie was somethin' else.
Dear Ajax, Johnny is a friend and did a brill. rendering og the song, be it in French. and hahahahaha the Brits got Eddie sooner indeed!!!!
GREEEAAAT!
Anyone know if this show was ever recorded on DVD for sale?
Good to see Keef remember his elders. The Stones did Eddie's 20 Flight Rock on their live album.
Rockers through and through, learnt from the best
Keith has always remembered his 'elders'.!
He says it's "the job of a musician is to pass it on" !! ❤️
he pulled that one out of his hat all right! nice.
Hes so over his head. Always has been. Mr lucky.
Pretty cool!!!
wow, pretty good job from keith
I think that IS Robert Cray on the Strat. I also believe that's Steve Cropper to Keith's left.
starcaster bassssssssssss!
A little fast Keith and perhaps those ciggies have taken their toll ? Never mind the spirit was there !
Muito bom DEMAIS, lembro SID
rock,n,roll yeaahhhhhh. ese pirata del caribe ,
