I adored every second of this playthrough, and I'm so excited for the future installments. Thank you so much to the creators of these games, they truly are special experiences.

What an unforgettable journey. Apologies for taking so long to post these videos. This series has been the most difficult editing project I've ever taken on for several different reasons, but it's finally completed. To those who watch my videos: thank you for going on this journey with me. I hope FF7R has filled you with joy, inspiration, and strength, and I hope you're all staying healthy and safe during these difficult times.

When I played the fight against Sephiroth for the first time I'd forgotten to look at my summons and I had Choco-Mog equipped and it triggered to end the fight. Kind of killed the drama of the big showdown when Sephiroth got clowned by a chocobo stampede.

yeah lol, my fight ended with Fat Chocobo's dummy thick ass crushing Sephiroph to death, definitely a moment i wont forget
In the original game I had counter on cloud for that final showdown in space, and instead of letting me use omnislash I just countered his attack automatically and that triggered him exploding.

I played remake in Japanese (because I am Japanese) at my first play but I had no friends so no chance to share the big emotion within me.
then I found your videos and I was so happy that there was someone who really enjoying this game and show so much respect to the creators.

This game is incredible. These characters are so lovable. FF7 has always had a great cast, but their personalities seem to POP more here and it's amazing. I beat FF7R way too dang fast, so I can't stop watching play throughs of it 😆
Man, tell me about it. I finished my first playthrough in 4 days, playing for more than 10 hours each day, even took days off to be able to play lol. Up to now, I've watched at least 5 or 6 full playthroughs and several others here and there. Can't get enough of these characters.

You notice that the flavor text to the trio of "Arbiters" and their weapons match up with the "emo brothers three" from AC and they combine to form a Bahamut, much like the one they summoned. :0
Ya and also everytime we damage the Harbinger he gives us a vision of the future. Is that like saying that we shouldn't kill him, this is what's gonna happen if we keep doing this? Cause also Sephiroth absorbs that power and we can see him launching Whispers at us at the end of the fight. People said whispers were gone because we beat Harbinger. Well. They aren't gone cause you can even see at the last phase Sephiroth has the whispers around his wing, well after we killed Harbinger.

The situation is very ambiguous here, but it's confirmed that the Sephiroth you face in this battle is not the same one from the rest of the game, just as the one you encounter in the following cutscene. As to what he is, it's possible he's either a last effort by the Whispers themselves to fight the main characters, and thus an illusion created by them, or he's cutscene!Sephiroth that is now capable of controlling them from the illusory world you fought the Harbinger in. We'll get to see in next game, I suppose...
@@PMbarbieri Oh that makes sense. Especially if the whispers created the Sephiroth we fought. It explains many of the concern as to why Sephiroth didn't kill Cloud throughout the game that I have read with his opportunities to do so. I would think why would they lead the party there and then try to stop them from beating them? I guess they were preparing and informing Cloud for what lies ahead. Then allowed them to defeat the whispers so that we can in fact shape destiny properly.
The MADGamer Sephiroth needs Cloud alive so that he give retrieve the black materia to help revive him, this is why he needs the events of the original game to take place as closely as possible until then.

Sephiroth killing a main party member unexpectedly and then having to fight Jenova immediately afterwards... I've done this before but can't put my finger on it
Out of all the streams including my experience with the game, yours was the most fun. TIIIFFFAAAA!
Fun fact, my tear ducts got messed up, so I've suffered from sever chronic dry eye for about 4 years now, in that time I've only been able cry twice, once when the cat i've owned for 17 years died, and again when zack was alive at the end. Crisis core ruined me when I originally played it, so seeing my boy still standing at the end and beside aerith... ah hell make it 3 times..

@@KingShadow619 I'm not sure we can call it a remake at this point. Sephiroth seemingly knows about the original FF7 timeline and his original fate, and has come back to change his and everyone elses fate. It's more like a sequel with some wibbly wobbly fate/time travel stuff.

To me it's a perfect middle ground of continuing the story while also recreating most of the things from the original in an amazing way, they captured the personalities of the characters and the environment perfectly.
I get wanting the exact same story recreated, but I'm so excited to see where this is going and can't wait for the next one exactly because I don't know what's next.

"It causes me immense emotional distress, but God it's so good." That's pretty much how I describe all of Final Fantasy to my friends.
Personally, I freaked when Aerith was exposing her back in the cutscenes towards the end ;D Shouting at my screen "Aerith, don't expose your back, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Also, did anyone else notice that in the final scene, where Cloud faces off against Sephiroth (straight from the original, so good!) that the gigantic nebulae in the background matches the general shape and color scheme of both final Sephiroth forms? There's so much to notice in the Remake - I truly pity those that played the game without having absolutely exhausted the original the way so many of us did.
I used the Buster Sword for the vast majority of my first playthrough (I only really switched to learn proficiencies, I found that without the restrictions of Hard that the Buster proved to be wonderfully balanced) and it made that final fight scene at the Edge of Creation so much more iconic as, when Sephiroth disarms Cloud and his sword goes spinning and lands in the ground... when it's the Buster Sword, you're instantly struck by how it mirrors the title screen of the original. Whew.

My favorite part was when your feet sweat. The game has so much power.
A video where you ramble about your final thoughts on the game would be excellent for two reasons:
1. I, and many others, would love to hear what you have to say! You're intelligent and hilarious and we love you.
2. It would be poetic for the final FF7R experience video to be part seven.
So, to make things abit clearer about what the hell actually happened in the end. The arbiters of fate were keeping the original story in check throughout this game. It's kinda 4th wall stuff.
Seriphroth and Aerith are the only ones who know about the future and seem to know what happens in the original story.
By destroying the aributures of fate at the end, you destroyed the original timeline and essentually destroyed the protectors of the original FF7 Story, therefore the remake will take a whole new story set in the same world!
I'm pretty sure that most of the events will stay the same. Same story beats. But at important junctions, events may now be different. Aerith might not die, but perhaps someone else? Or nobody, or multiple people. Perhaps it all depends on the choices you make. It's not that the original timeline is destroyed, but that all possibilities are now open. Events can play out the same, or different.
@James Prime It's not really an intelligent way, considering how much controversy came from it. Many people don't like meta narratives.
It would probably would have been the smartest to just add additional things to do which allows you to deviate from the original ending organically.
The OG crowd could go with the original ending while people who are bored with it, can get the "better" ending. Is so much easier and way less head-scratchy than what Nomura attempted here.

i love the respect and appreciation that she gives to the people who work on this. Working on a game this huge , with such a high expectation from previous and new fans with this level of quality is damn hard.
I highly recommend people watch the spoiler discussion on Easy Allies channel. There are some insane fan theories discussed about the direction the other games could go to.
I don't mind the Remake's trash, random ending as long as we still get Aerith's death scene, WEAPON, the Junon battle / Tifa's escape, the Midgar drop and subsequent showdown with Hojo, Cloud falling into the lifestream, Barret vs Dyne, etc etc... as long as *all* of the main plot points remain I honestly don't mind any added Nomura nonsense.

What a amazing game! It is my personal GOTY :) The story and the Music are so beautiful, all characters are amazing, for me Tifa is the best and i love her so much 😍 and also love so much TifaxCloud together 😍
I can't WAIT to see where they go with Part 2. I'm so glad they made the game into a soft sequel and capitalized on the ending of the original game where we see Aerith in the very last scene. Showing that the theories for the last 25 years were right and the ending of VII had Aerith traveling through the life stream to the past. So hyped!

Ah yeah, this game was quite an amazing experience. To people that still hate it because it's not the full game, need to realize that putting an entire 3-disc game, with this level of quality, into one game would be kinda insane. It's already massive in filesize just as it is lol.
It's interesting to hear the various theories surrounding the ending and the various "future flashbacks". I've my own, but we'll have to wait and see where it goes. While I can see how the Whispers weren't really THAT necessary, I think they helped shape things a bit and added a bit more spice (even if they weren't really used that much, come to think of it).
I think all the characters were REALLY well done, including the side characters. Amazing how adding voices adds SO much to each character, isn't it? Barret's probably the best character in terms of how much got improved, but I still love Aerith the most myself.
Can't wait to see part 2! Wonder what'll happen there!
I'm inclined to agree about Barret. In the original I just didn't care too much about him past his story arc in Corell, but here, he's LEAGUES beyond my favorite FF7 character now, which used to be Cid by virtue of being a dragoon...And granted, even Cid had rather little story in the original too, past the whole rocket/Huge Materia incident, plus his crummy attitude when not played for laughs. I think Nyx is the third player I've watched go through the story now, and I still can't get enough of how much they improved Avalanche as a whole.
I'm also rather curious as to where they're going with the Whispers plotline. It's fun to speculate, but until part 2 is released some day, I can at least have the satisfaction of thinking up my own theories. And, even if people think that the Remake is going a weird way now thanks to the retcons and whatnot, that's the beauty of the story being an alternate timeline deal, we can always play the OG!

The final chapter of this game was nothing but pure fan service. Such a shame, as it had been pretty much perfect up until then. We've already battled Sephiroth (twice) and destroyed the master of fate itself... kinda difficult to see how future parts will top that to be fair.
Yes it was and it was incredible and i can't wait to see what they have in store and faith they`ll do it right. I legit feel bad for people like you who take such a cynical/dismissive stance with the ending, everyone gets to experience Final Fantasy 7 for the first time again and that's awesome

Firstly, everyone suddenly starts acting way out of character which is at odds with everything they have shown in the game up until that point (especially Aerith). Then, we get all the anime stuff flooding in (Cloud slashing a train with his sword....) It just feels completely at odds with the previous 17 chapters of the game. Finally, like I said we have already battled Sephiroth twice. So, if it happens again, it'll just feel like "oh its him again." Thats what I was disappointed with.
I'm still gonna get part 2, I just hope they can return to what made the first 17 chapters of part 1 so amazing.

Im pretty sure that some of you notice that this Sephiroth is probably Sephiroth from different timeline he has black wing like in Advent children and from start of game is messing with Cloud's head bcs he knows he will eventually die if he will not change events from original game there is a ton stuff suggesting this theory. :D

Not sure if someone's already said it in the comments or if you've seen some of the theories. Would very much recommend watching Final Fantasy Peasent's Level theories on the subject, but it's highly hinted at that Aerith managed to learn how to move her spirit back through time into her old, still alive self, to set things right, as she believes the events of the original were not meant to be. However, Sephiroth has also learned how to do this, but in a different way, through his various clones and the Jenova cells that connect them all. He knows that he's not strong enough to beat Cloud, which is why he asked him to join up to defy destiny. Course he's now got no choice but to do it the hard way. And yes, the ending was part metaphorical on how the devs want this story to break free of the past, while also respecting it, but it's also very real for the story itself. Again, highly encourage you Nyx if you read this, and anyone else that does to go check out Final Fantasy Peasent's FFVIIR theories. They're all excellent and would be amazing to see if Square implemented them for the future of the Remake.

I'm definitely not a cynic and I absolutely enjoyed every single moment of this game, even the side quests. It was an emotional rollercoaster and Remake did the original justice while becoming its own thing. The game felt familiar in terms of gameplay, story and characters, but it was more than just a fresh coat of paint. It was chiseled, buffed, painted, shined, and finished- especially when it came to the music.
I always loves people reaction of realisation that they're gonna fight Sephirot when the music cues in and the scene changes from the CGI to the ingame engine.
Its always a mix of fear, panic and delight, you now a game Antagonist is well made when people have these feelings at the prospect of facing it...

I don't think I ever noticed before, when Barret was stabbed, it hit Cloud harder than everyone else. Despite all their bullshit, they're basically besties.. as much as Cloud can manage.

This is the longest journey I have ever met someone who knows the story of the game so well. Very strong commitment but we all know that its just the half of the story, the reunion is just around the corner and the bonus part, Zack might be around helping cloud. (◠‿◕)

The last few battles were so intense. The timeline thing they did is pretty awesome. I loved the twist!
The ending was kinda giving a glimpse into the weeks before the story of FFVII begins. Zack and Cloud break out of Hojo's lab, both having been experiments after they "defeated" Sephiroth. Zack gets killed by Shinra troops and Cloud gets his memories confused, which is why he thinks he is a SOLDIER when really only Zack was. Aerith is part of that whole scene because Zack was her first love.
I was surprised to see you didn't have Cloud's Ascension limit break! It's so good!

That Zack's scene outside of Midgar before his fight with Shinra's soldiers came straight from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
I challenge anyone who played that game that: (1) didn't get a chill in the spine when watching that cutscene, and (2) didn't get a 'WTF???' reaction on the aftermath. 😀

I felt the same way you did, the game I could express no emotions except for joy and excitement for what's to come. I want them to take long enough to recreate the experience of this game, but not........*too* long for the sequel.
your apparent appreciation of ffvii is seemingly unparalleled. it's wishful thinking but if square-enix decides to give ffvi a similar treatment/remake i would look forward to seeing your experience playing through it. while vii unquestionably became the most adored, i believe the story, characters, and music of vi have the potential to surpass even this.
anyway, thanks for sharing your playthrough and enabling an elder millennial such as myself to vicariously experience those countless feels.

edit??: anyway on a serious note, oh my god this goddamn GAME. i came back to re-watch this after who knows how long, and god, it hits different. the fact that they had the liberty to retcon some deaths is just astounding to me, and i mean that in a good way! same with how they made the characters more realistic than previous installments, and how they expanded upon the plot in ways i couldn't even think of (cough cough, expanding upon character's relationships, cough cough,). the environments are great, too! just how they handled the game in general is amazing to me.
really, i get why people sometimes may not like this, as it's called a remake. it's more of a re-imagining, but, man, it's still a great game! i'm surprised they could draw out the midgar section this long, though. but it's still great nonetheless!! i really wish i could actually play it, speaking of. i don't have a ps4, so i'll just wait until they (maybe) release it on pc. since this uses the same engine as XV, i have faith, kinda? but whatever. playthroughs, or me finally getting to play it, it's still one of my favorite games.
