How about trying to use a tightly covered slow cooker to melt the resin shavings at low heat over a longer time period of time. My theory is that the reason the resin shavings burn is because the amount of heat being applied is too much and as a result does not allow the bonds between the molecules of the shavings to slowly become unstable and then break down, causing the shavings to transform into a fluid state.
That's what I thought, i left a comment. Since it takes 2 chemicals to harden, you'd have to be able to separate them in order to reverse the chemical reaction. It only goes one way, the reaction that is. The nightlight is a super idea! It looks amazing!
He probably already knew that. But people kept asking after he made a video with reasonable ways to reuse it. That's why he made this last video to show people it's not possible to reuse it the way they would expect.
Yes that was crazy and funny too, you were like, maybe, maybe, maybe.... nope... catches on fire, burns to a crisp and into oblivion, now, that’s my kinda entertainment
I am not a wood worker or an artist of any kind, but I find your projects so enjoyable and interesting. Also my father used to do wood working. When I watch you, I am reminded of him and his love for wood working projects. It brings back good memories. Thank you for your time and effort. I will keep watching.
First time here but I love watching turners. I have no intension of being one. It's almost hypnotizing. Absolutely beautiful night light. Take care and God bless.
Ok I understand and I know it’s a joke but i would like to prove that it is in fact a stainless steel cup. So if you look closely you will be able to see horizontal lines in the cup and I have a stainless steel cup and they do look similar. I also a have cup that is closer to its size and shape and again they are very similar I also have a couch cup holder and although similar, there are many differences

👍🏼 Hey Ben, The sound is great! I love the night light. To me it looks like the Northern Lights. (Aurora Borealis). Also, if you think of it as under water, looks like jellyfish tentacles. 🤗 ~ Roma
First time viewing the channel and have to say the mic quality is excellent. Very clear and easy to understand you. Loved the way the lamp came out and I'll be checking out a few more of your videos as well as subscribing.
Your video sound was really good. This is my first vid of yours I've watched. Nice little project. I can see that night light on my nightstand. Very excellent.♥️👍
I liked the"thicker wisps of smoke" effect the dyed shavings displayed in the resin. I see a potential use for that and similar effects in future projects. Could there be a possible use for leftover shavings as a near-transparent spacer between objects in resin? For example, you choose items that tend to clump together, all float to the top or bottom of the container when put in curing resin, etc. Granted, the spaces in between the objects wouldn't be completely transparent, but that could be an effect of its own. Just a thought. Love your channel!
I went to college for Industrial Design, we worked with resins often, one of the things they taught us was that things that have a chemical reaction, like resins, to set up, that get hot in the process of setting up will not melt, all they will do is burn.
Oh my gosh! That looks exactly like an Opal or the Northern Lights when you turn the night light on in the dark, that is absolutely gorgeous and I desperately want one!! 😂😍
I enjoyed watching your experiments. Even laughed about your comments when it didn't work out. The light is awesome, I love it! The 🎤 sounds great. Please stay safe over there. The situation is quite bad here in the UK 😕 I was just about to move back to the Netherlands when they put the country on lockdown. Almost all my stuff is in boxes and I've got no idea when I'll be able to move 😖 So I'll be unpacking my hobby materials again so I have something to do 🙂
Even before the lockdown, I told my hubby that my paints and a few craft items will be the last to be packed when we move. Even if I'm too busy to sit down and use them, I get twitchy if I can't easily put my hands on them! 😵
thank you for this. I have been wondering for awhile now if you could put to use the shavings. i always thought it would give a silly string look. I really like how this looks, like an aurora or lightning.
Now that does look really cool awesome video mate keep up the good work i wanna see some bigger projects with the same method but lots more shavings and the mic makes a big diffrents 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 stay safe mate
Thanks for stopping by, If you have time you can check out my range of Dragon Eggs here www.etsy.com/shop/bensworx

Nice outcome. Just so you know, epoxies are thermoset polymers and by nature usually will not melt or dissolve.
Thanks Mate, it was fun trying though 😃
Exactly

Mic sounds crystal clear. I love experimenting, the torch and fire was crazy! The end result Is beautiful.
Thanks Mary

The new mic is a god send for those of us who are hard of hearing. You voice is so much clearer and easier to understand. Thank you.
Thanks Ali
Okay, so the melting thing didn’t work, but the nightlight came out hella cool.
Thanks Mate 👍
I completely agree!!
4:43 I mean... They technically did melt?

Hi Ben, I remember this from 4yrs ago. I'm still loving the nightlight. It turned out brilliant. Take care 🙂 all of you. ❤
Nice job Ben. I really appreciate your desire to reuse resin waste. Mike sounds fine at this end.
Thanks Cass 👍
The moral of this. You can’t remelt epoxy but you can turn it into a dope lamp
How about blending them into a powder and using it with glue for other art stuff? :)
That's what I was thinking, maybe model glue.
First time here but I love watching turners. I have no intension of being one. It's almost hypnotizing. Absolutely beautiful night light. Take care and God bless.
Thanks Sue 😊
"I've got this Stainless Steel cup"
Bro your wifes gonna pissed when she finds out you used the Couch cup holder as a melting dish for resin.
