When I was in grade school we took a trip to the crayola factory that was like 30 minutes away. It was pretty cool to see how they make crayons and markers.
I think you should try it again but try using different values of the same colour, eg: different blues, red with orange, bright shocking pink with purple, different greens, etc. . Just a thought! 🌹❣️
Okay the brown soup was just as I had expected, and I was not sure how you would make this look decent. But when you turned off the light for that last shot I had to admit, that looks pretty cool.
Impressive outcome, I'll definitely have to stop into Hare & Forbes next week to see the man, the myth, the legend in the wild. Hopefully I remember lol
At first I was not super impressed, but the lighted close up gives it that WOW factor. I love your spirit of trying things out and showing us what happens.
11:55 If you go to the Dollar Store (or your local equivalent) and get a set of cheap measuring spoons, you can get the pigment powders out of the bags and into the small mixing cups a lot easier and with fewer spills... They will also help with large Resin Projects as you can precisely measure the pigments into each batch of Resin making Colour Matching the different batches/layers a LOT simpler...
Another win. You should write a book of sorts. An A-Z on resin. From tools, to times, to brands, sand paper or micro pads, pros/cons of UV, tips on removing bubbles, proper pressure pot technique. The whole 9.
Gee wiz Ben, you pulled that one together well. I love the addition of the LED. Your thought process was working overtime with this one. Absolutely clever stuff and well made.
with the light shining through, it looks like a beautiful small galaxy! i didn't have much faith on this piece at the start but it looked really good at the end
Ben you are an absolute angel, your calm presenting style and music, and really wholesome content is lovely. These videos really help me come down after a panic attack. Thank you🤍
Great job Ben as always and the wife got her starry night dragon egg for her birthday yesterday and she said thank you so much for making her egg she loves it
I think it will either mix together as it solidifies so that you get pockets of brown or it could all stay perfectly encased I don't know the melting point of crayons vs how much heat is being produced. Also speaking as someone who has "given" flesh and blood to virtually every grater that I've owned watching you scrape the crayons gave me anxiety so glad you didn't get hurt :) Addendum: holy cow that worked great! when I was a kid I had a toy that would shine constellations on you ceiling and had a bunch of different plates that you could use that had different starscapes and constellations. this looks so much like how I thought it would before I used it. like you're walking among the stars. absolutely amazing!
This turned out completely different than what I thought in all of the best ways. The orb is beautiful and lit up it’s almost ethereal. I loved the stand, super creative callback. The crayons in the resin truly transformed into something different. Enjoy your expo, I’m only bummed that I’m in the states and not able to see you in person!
Oh wow, you really pulled it together on this one! I didn't think this could be turned into something as nice! Wish I could come see you in Queensland. Had some good times there 12 years ago 😄
I’m banking on a neat looking blank. Well, I guessed right. I was really amazed the way the crayon bits were suspended throughout the orb. Very nicely done. Enjoy your trip. See you next time.
Owwww ben. That’s simply awesome in light mode. It looks like stars in orb. You know what I also make some resin thing like paper weight or small toys for my kid. I tried crayons 🖍 but my project was completely ugly looking. I throw it after. In the staring of this video, i was afraid 😱 that its not gonna turn out as expected. But wow, that was crazy satisfying awesome looking ball. Loved it. Will wait for next project. 🤗 all the best for live performances.
Cool! It looks so different and so much cooler lit. I love the stand you built, very original and creative. I was right about most of the crayon merging together, but it floated, not sank...fun prompt having us speculate. Great video, it’s the first of yours I’ve seen.
Having seen what happens to most folks and myself with shavings, they should all wind up sinking, but since you are using resin much like the stuff I use, I really don't know what will happen. I hope the resin and the shavings do something super freaking cool man. Thanks for the video as well, see you at the end!
Here's my paused prediction, I'm thinking it will heat up and the wax from the crayons will float to the top but hopefully mix together swirly and melty... hopeful I guess? - yay I'm glad it didn't all float up, just the big parts? Good call on the orb, the color was definitely like a dragon ball Haha. Love the stand idea as well, the light really brings the sparkle!
That turned out pretty cool. I love the light, it really adds a lot. I think I always say this, but I just love Solar Color Dust! They have the best products to use. I always have a hard time editing my order to them. You and SCD, are a perfect match!
😮I LOVE the ball! It’s pretty cool! 😮I’d love to learn how to use those tools! I’m learning some smaller ones tho! 👊I’m gonna be 60 on the 23rd of Jan and when I went to middle school, they didn’t allow girls to take “shop” class…we had to take the stereotypical classes…cooking, sewing 😂
I THINK IT'S AWEŚOME!!!!! TO USE CRAYONS TO CREATE A STAND IS AMAZING!!! MOST PEOPLE OF NON-CREATIVE MIND'S WON'T GET IT , BUT PEOPLE WITH ARTISTIC CAPACITY WILL GET THE CONCEPT STRAIGHT AWAY. You should make a set of Dragon Balls! That'd be pretty cool.
When I was in grade school we took a trip to the crayola factory that was like 30 minutes away. It was pretty cool to see how they make crayons and markers.
That was a lot of fun to watch!
Hey pal, are you ok? I was waiting for your video of the week.
I hope you’re ok.
Hi mate, yeah all good, I’ve been doing live demonstrations at Hare and Forbes all week so I didn’t have time for a video, I’ll be back this week 👍
would be interesting to see all the shavings from one colour family - a bunch of different blues and purples together would look awesome
Use a pencil sharpener for thin even shavings
No.

That was a great pot cam!! The movement of the shavings was an awesome example of convective currents. Amazing!

Next time you work with crayons pop them in the freezer and you can pull them out of the paper really quick and easy.

That turned out so stunning. That pot cam is the bomb, great footage.
It looks like one of those giant bouncy balls we all had as a kid
Oh man that light in the stand was exactly what this piece needed! Looks incredible with the light showing all the little pieces inside of it!
with the light shining through, it looks like a beautiful small galaxy! i didn't have much faith on this piece at the start but it looked really good at the end
Very cool. I didn’t think the light would do much, but it looks like water. I love it.

Thank you for innovating and experimenting, Ben! I appreciate your work and that you're trying to find new things to express your art!
That was a great project and I really liked the pot cam. That was a great idea.
I was expecting long streaks of color myself. I think this came out super cool. Would be an awesome kids night light. Have fun next week
Thanks Mark
OMG! That reveal just blew me away! That is a spectacular result. 👍
Kinda looks like a snow globe! Really cool work!🥰
I like how you like to take risks and you make them work. The outcome it’s always a good result! Thanks Ben.😷
The stuff you make is so cool. And the music you have when showing the finished product is awesome.
I love the narrative as you work with these projects! Thank you.
It looks absolutely amazing! I love the way you incorporated the crayons into the base. It looks cool unlit but when lit the effect is stunning!

another good looking piece Ben I loved the pot cam as some of the colours stretched and flowed.

after seeing what happened in the pressure pot, why not try just a single color of crayon or different shades of that color
Reminds Mme of the universe, very pleasantly surprised. I had my doubts, but you did. Well done. Enjoy your trip. 😁
Great job Ben. Looks great.
Wow that came out so nicely with the stand and light 🤩
Looks great Ben, "turned " :-) out well.
It looks great, Ben. When it first came out of the pot, it didn't look like much but after it was turned and polished, it looks really nice.

That is bad ass my friend! Paired with the lighted stand, it’s truly impressive!
No matter what you make, I am always amazed and inspired. Keep it up dude. 🤙🏻
We're a little late watching this one BUT coming from a Dragon Ball family, we can tell you definitively that Shenron approves. 🐉💚🐉

Looks beautiful. Also love the interactions with your wife ☺️
Multicolored snow storm in a globe!!! Cool!!!😎😎😎
Next go, maybe use similiar color crayons? I think you could tune the coloration of it that way for specific overall tones. Neat effect!
Thanks Mate
Please don't let Nicole talk to my significant other, she may clue into why some items are missing. LOL.
It would be really cool to try making planets with different colour combos and maybe uv as well!
That turned out amazing especially with the light on it.
