There is one disadvantage with playing a loss card early that you didn't touch upon: You get less cards to choose from for the rest of the scenario. This loss of option value is significant and should sway you to burn cards early less often than if you did not take this into consideration. However, of course I agree it can still be worth to play the loss early in the right circumstance.
Our group was terrified of loss cards at first. Now as Three Spears level 4, I have very few and am able to manage my stamina very well without using over the top methods. Our Cragheart burns cards like it’s going out of style but the key as you said is maximum output. Plus it helps that his personal goal is exhaustion 😛 Another good video, thanks!
Thanks for putting these out now. My wife and I are late to the Gloomhaven party, but we own both GH and Jotl. We bought GH first, so that's what were sticking with. I play Jotl by myself on nights that she doesn't feel like playing.
I love that stamina calculator. Anyone who cares enough about Gloomhaven stamina to be watching RUclips videos about it should definitely check out that calculator and play around with it a bit.
Yep for sure, it is so handy in understanding the impacts of your actions on your longevity.... or lack thereof, especially for me as I like to play pretty aggressive lol!!
Thanks, really appreciate it! Doing my best to level up my video editing game as I do it all myself and I had never edited a single second of video before Nov 2020!
I play a Spellweaver and i pretty much play a loss card whenever they'll hit their maximum number of targets. Generates XP like there's no tomorrow and shortens the game by producing enemy corpses.
Getting the hang of my Level 2 Spellweaver. After Reviving Ether, I'm techically a little past "halftime," but usually we're in the final room, and so instead of playing conservatively, I just go berserk and wipe the monsters off the face of the map. Last scenario it was Icy Blast (+ minor power potion + piercing bow + eagle eye goggles), followed by Impaling Eruption and Fire Orbs on the next two turns. My only regret was not building in a round to loot all the carnage.
I avoid playing loss at ALL costs. Try to wait until the last room or if I don’t use one, and I fear an elite may come wail on me and kill me or my partner, I will use one in that case but not feel good about it if it’s early.
You can just use the one for Gloomhaven as it covers all of the hand sizes for all of the JOTL classes. just choose the hand size that matches the class you want to play! Hope that helps!
Doing calculations during the game is too serious for me - I just want to have fun, otherwise a good guide. Of Course people can do calculations if they want to, that's just for me - I do plenty of calculations at work, so I prefer not to do them when I take time off to play a game with my friends.
Any calculations you do should just be to give you an intuition on how much impact your actions have. I have a friend who regularly uses three loss cards before his first rest and then he always exhausts way before everyone else, especially since he starts with only 9 cards in his hand.
@@Kwprules I exhausted a few times in the beginning of the campaign but I figured out not to use so many lost cards without doing calculations. Maybe they will help some people.
Come and watch me play Magic The Gathering: Arena!! The BEST decks to beat the meta!! ruclips.net/channel/UCXFLYWi1sEIbgSb-kYvssJg

Yeah that is a fun goal! Go crazy and exhaust as much as possible!

Both are amazing! Have fun and thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for another healthy dose of Gloomhaven content!
Glad I can be helpful, thanks for watching!
I really enjoy how you explain things using humour to illustrate examples. Thanks!

Wow awesome info...game changing. One of my sons holds onto his burn cards like they are gold...eye opening
Glad I can be helpful! Play those losses and watch the elites fall!!
Man, I love your presentation of content

Another excellent video! Cheers for the tips
Happy to help!
I like the deeper insights, non-sugarhigh pacing, and blessed lack of clickbaiting in your videos. Your Gloomhaven channel is anti-cancer.
Thank you!
Love your videos man, great presentation and information
Thanks, much appreciated!

Probably the most important video of yours

Use them when they are going to be really effective and you will do well!
@@neuralnetgames6540 I’m going to try that the next scenario
Where can I get this graph on longevity for jaws of the lion.

Advice for extra longevity ... don't play then nerfed stamina potions :-)
lol yeah that's one way of doing it!
