I'm glad this story is getting told. As a lifelong Dodgers fan who knew about Toles and his gut wrenching story. This has been happening for years now with the Dodgers picking him up so he can maintain the help he needs. Bravo for shedding light on this... See, we're not the evil empire after all. Humanity first.
As an Angels fan its natural to despise you and hate your team. But hopefully we can agree this shows they care to everyone on their org and reminding us that baseball players are also humans just like us that have limits to our physical and psychological state. A move that I commend to the Dodgers and wish they can keep helping him until he becomes better in all conditions.
Imagine praising a billion dollar company for supporting someone's mental health. America is f'd. It's funny how blacks don't care about being treated like slaves if there's a baseball bat or basketball in their hands.
Matt LaChappa. My Padres have been taking care of him since he had a heart attack after warming up for a game, suffering brain damage. Minor league contract every year since 1996 to keep him on their insurance.
I am BIG lifelong Dodger fan and a fan of Toles since the first time I saw him play. I have been following this story ever since he left the team and I (like so many others) have been praying that things work out for Toles and his entire family.
Except for when they decided to honor the sisters of perpetual indulgence during pride month last year . Let’s hope they don’t do that nonsense again this season and stick to baseball by not adding any negative vibes surrounding the team with that mess
They’ve always done good things with it. Look at all the bums they rehab and fix in their minor leagues for other teams to benefit from plus the ones they keep for themselves and give a nice life to
Great job of telling his story about Mental Health and spotlighting the struggle of mental health within baseball as it can affect the performance. The Dodgers is a very Classic and Noble organization much respect to them for this kind gesture ❤️❤️ They're not only in it for baseball, They are in it for the team and fans👍🏾👍🏾
This is awesome and this is why the Los Angeles Dodgers are the classiest organization in professional sports. Glad Andrew is getting the help he needs and the organization didn't just cut him loose when he was no longer able to play.
They've been doing stuff like this for a long min. Great organization and if you look into the things that they do you'll see a lot of great things that no one mentions. This is the Dodgers.
I was with the organization in 2014 when he got suspended and sent home. I remember when asking what he wanted for his walk up song, and he wanted silence, no walk up song.
As a Giants fan and a huge dodger hater, I’ve got nothing but respect for the dodgers for keeping this up. Honestly one of the coolest things in all of baseball
As a Giants fan there will always be bad blood, but even i have to admit thats a big W move for that organization. I hope he gets all the help he clearly needs.
Awesome! Cool video detailing Tolesy’s story. I was totally crushed when he hurt his knee running into the left field wall. So much promise but I’m happy to know the Dodgers are doing the right thing by extending his contract so he can keep receiving medical help. ✌🏼
Players "vanish" all the time. With him performing so well, then wondering, what happened? Thank you for bringing this issue out in the open to a society that doesn't want to deal with our mental health situation in this country. I've never been a Dodger fan, and they are far from perfect. However, if all is factual, they are doing a good thing. The best to Andrew Toles and thank you Dodgers.
Tolesy! I was always rooting for him when he played for the Dodgers and was heartbroken when I saw him get injured in LF. I’m glad to see that now Dodger Nation continues to root for him!
I also knew about this story. Like so many others I am a lifelong Dodger fan (1st game 1971). This is just one of the reasons I am VERY PROUD to be a Dodger fan and will continue to be until the day I die.
Perhaps one day the stigma associated with mental health issues can be reduced or eliminated- it's not something most of us are taught to deal with in a positive way and that is truly a shame because those folks don't deserve the lot in life they have been dealt. Thanks for doing this man, any kind of positive exposure is another step in the right direction.
I hope somehow Tolesy gets better. He was fun to watch in his brief time in the show. It's easy to forget sometimes that the players are real people with real issues that they deal with. Thanks for covering this.
Thank you as a dodgers fan since 96 I’m glad you guys are doing this which is beyond the game of baseball and shows the humanity we can have towards a human struggling..I had my few bouts with depression but learned to fight back and it feels good to have that support team 🤝🏼🤝🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
And the cool thing is the Dodgers have done nothing to publicise it because they don’t want any credit for it, all they want is for this young man to be healthy. Not because he has anything to offer in return, but simply because it’s the right thing to do. That really says a lot about the soul of this team. That is truly the heart of baseball. That’s truly being a “team” and coming alongside your fallen brother. I am a Dodgers fan and I’m proud of this, but not because it’s a Dodgers thing, but because it’s a BASEBALL thing. Stuff like this makes me proud to be a baseball fan.
I became a Dodgers fan because my father was a Dodgers fan. I’ve stayed a Dodgers fan (though I’ve lived most of my life in Texas) because of stories like this. I was diagnosed with depression (which screwed up so many things before I knew what was happening) when I was in my late 20s. LET’S GO DODGERS!!!!!
These are the kinda moves that make my fandom with the Dodgers so unbreakable. There is a reason people like me bleed Dodger blue, and the heart of that is in situations like this, where they celebrate who their players were and what they have done for the team.
I have no problems with buying a team when you’re also spending money to save somebody’s life. I don’t wanna see anyone get sick, or die, or be hurt… applaud the Dodgers for doing a huge part in helping save someone
I know this story too well. I am so happy the Dodgers are doing this. I just hope he can be okay because when I saw him I thought he could be the real deal.
Toles was the starting left fielder at the beginning of 2017 not center, center was Joc Pederson and Chris Taylor that year. I was watching the game when Toles was injured against the left sideline wall.
Andrew Toles is still on the Dodgers. They renew is contract every year since 2018 for zero dollar, so he can get free health insurance. Dodgers is truly a class act organization. 👍
Personally I think the hole thing about the Giants using that loophole to pay Davis less was done out of spite because they were pissed that he took them to arbitration and won
I’ll always respect the dodgers for this. I remember hearing about them doing this a few years back and good for them to continue to give this guy the medical insurance he needs 💙
The Dodgers also employ RJ Pete, who is on the autism spectrum, as a club house attendant. You can see a RUclips to learn about it. They also embraced Joc Pederson's brother, Champ, also on the spectrum, while Joc was a Dodger. Some other clubs have too.
I'm not so sure people hate the Dodgers organization itself, i think its more so the Dodger fans. They can be a rather obnoxious bunch. They don't have a great track record of being very well mannered either. Ask Bryan Stow.
@italkstudios I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Matt lachapa story and the padres organization, but it is similar to this. Only more severe. I think you will find it interesting! Thank you for all of the great videos
Glad that they are renewing his contract to keep his mental health issues dealt with. Hope Toles gets his life together and his mental health is good. We are cheering you on, Toles.
I love this. I remember being very excited about Andrew Toles when he came up and then suddenly he disappeared. Happy that he’s going forward with the Dodgers support.
I really miss Andrew Toles. With his speed he was a joy to watch. I hope that he gets all the help he needs. It would be great to see him back in uniform again. Maybe as a coach. Way to go Dodgers.
Toles had a lot going for him while on the Dodgers. A solid ball player that eared his spot on the team. I was surprised when he was missing from spring training. I was looking forward to seeing him play more. Good on the Dodgers organization for doing what they can to help out.
Good video to showcase what a true, CLASSY organization the Dodgers are. However, you could do without posting Toles' mugshot like that for the thumbnail.
U talking ab Chico or wtv? If u are then I think he’s still working their as a helper or smt cuz when I went to spring training he was their with the guys
When Toles injured his ACL in ‘17, it paved the way for Chris Taylor getting his shot in LF. He’s now the third longest tenured Dodger on current roster
As a dodger fan, it's getting tiring seeing the giants taking fat L's season after season. You guys aren't even our rivals anymore because you're terrible. The Padres are our bitches now....
I'm glad this story is getting told. As a lifelong Dodgers fan who knew about Toles and his gut wrenching story. This has been happening for years now with the Dodgers picking him up so he can maintain the help he needs.

You never were the evil empire, that would (still) be the Yanks. They need to do for their fans what the Dodgers do for Toles.
Imagine praising a billion dollar company for supporting someone's mental health. America is f'd. It's funny how blacks don't care about being treated like slaves if there's a baseball bat or basketball in their hands.

This is one of the reasons I love baseball. You don’t really see this in other sports. Thanks for shining light on this. Keep up the great content
Say what you want about them “buying” a super team, they’re doing good use with their money on this one
“Super team” with a smaller payroll than 2 teams who missed the playoffs last season lol
Yes they did “buy” a super team

Toles was the starting left fielder at the beginning of 2017 not center, center was Joc Pederson and Chris Taylor that year. I was watching the game when Toles was injured against the left sideline wall.
This is like the opposite of what my employer would do if they caught even a whiff of someone's mental illness.
Andrew Toles is still on the Dodgers. They renew is contract every year since 2018 for zero dollar, so he can get free health insurance. Dodgers is truly a class act organization. 👍
Absolutely awesome! Good luck bro
What the Dodgers are doing here shows what a class organization they are and is in sharp contrast to what the Giants have done to JD Davis.
Really not a fair comparison. Davis is not a person in need, just someone who couldn’t make the team due to his roles being filled.
Personally I think the hole thing about the Giants using that loophole to pay Davis less was done out of spite because they were pissed that he took them to arbitration and won
Many reasons why I love my team. Go Dodgers!
