I played rok for 3 years and after I moved to COD I had no regrets. The free healing, ranged combat and it’s just overall cheaper to play. Troops are more permanent so you can actually grow. I couldn’t pass 100m in ROK cause every kvk I had to zero myself. In CoD I don’t have to worry about hospital space and constantly farming rss to heal and using speed ups to heal. I heal 700k troops a day and they don’t die(as much) so I’m sure I can reach 150-200m power eventually with time. To max an artifact I’d say it costs like $600-$1000 depending on luck, which is not $10000 for the equipment system. And also you can use them on the field and see the effect. COD is superior in mechanics even if not in style
Not sure if they changed the mechanic in ROK since I left but daily chests in COD you can choose ANY hero. Not in some order of commanders you don’t need to get one you do. Another big reason why it’s cheaper
I say it secound time! ROK is another system to the time where ROK comes out! The time was another to find a way to make ROK! COD is this time! It's normal that cod has another mechanics! And it seems that many not will see it! Many many things are the same...for example...Talent tree, level up commanders, many events are stolen from rok and was converting to cod! The only news in cod are the fights with magic, pets for example. Cod is only a copy of rok with a little bit of another things more not!
Nice vid for sure! Only heard about ROK after I started playing COD…the amount of time I spend on COD, I am seriously impressed that you can spend so much time on both games Chis.
I’ll always prefer ROK and for me it’s about the basic premise of the games. I’m more than happy to play in a game with great characters from history but a game with fantasy characters? It’s just not my thing at all.
Great video comparing both games. Definitely not too long dude. I’m tempted to change to Call of Dragons, as the F2P aspect and battle mechanics seem better for me. But after investing nearly 3 years of time in RoK, it’s kind of tough. Thanks Chisgule, always excellent content.
You can definitely do both. I played both simultaneously for months just to see which one I liked better. I still found myself opening ROK first though. Eventually uninstalled CoD.
I played both. I think RoK is more f2p friendly. Mainly because in RoK, you can limitlessly farm the premium resource for both games, which is gems. You can also do it in CoD but there is exhaustion which limits how many gems you can farm. It would take hours for the succeeding gem nodes.

I stopped ROK to focus on COD the game i just flat out better for me i prefer but i wish there will be better skill tricks in cod to make to progression more viable for f2p or low spender
You forgot a very important distinction for f2p experience. As an f2p/low spender in a small kingdom, in HK you can get around 4000 gems daily (plus materials/ap potions/speedups worth in total another 2500 gems) from farming barb camps and farming gems. Every single day in home kingdom, stuff worth >6k gems. And in KvK, you can farm an unbelievable amount of basically everything if you want to grind by chaining barbarians. And really, for account progression of a very active low spending/f2p account, like 90% of my gameplay is farming barb camps/gems (in HK) or barb chaining/farming gems (in KvK). This is effectively non-existent in CoD if I understand correctly?
In CoD u can farm gems too they are limited to 1k per week but its meaningful for f2p too and we dont have infinite barb chaining but u can farm duo forts in CoD which gives u a quite insane amount of ressources so much that as a F2P i basicly dont even have to farm rss to keep researching/training 24/7. So u cant rly grind as hard in CoD but the grind u can do is very rewarding and accessible to everyone which means u dont need a dead kingdom for it also we still have 2k VIP boxes in CoD that drop very regular a F2P can get VIP 15 in 1 year pretty reliable.
@@gecgoodpasi1654 I didn't know about the VIP drops - yeah, that would be great in RoK as well! I am spending ~500k gems/year on VIP (50k gems every MtG), that is a decent chunk of my gem "income". As for gathering 1k gems/week - as I said, I can get around 30k gems/week in a kd with nice but rather casual players, that's 30x more! (Well, on average, I probably get around 20k gems/week, which still is in a different league than anything CoD has to offer.) Rss gathering is another point Chisgule is not referring to in the video: in RoK, I gather all rss I need (inkluding gold) on my farms, so the main has effectively infinite rss. Afaik, in CoD, the analogue of gold is still limited?
I absolutely love the call of dragons content Chisgule, and will watch any video of yours about the game. In this video I must say I disagree with your rating of call of dragons being an 8/10 f2p game. Maybe this could be true in comparison to other games, but honestly as a low spender myself- the game basically becomes unplayable if you are not lucky enough to get in the top alliance. You will quickly fall behind and not be relevant at all in any of the combat. This is the case even if you are extremely active, t5 players doing 70k damage to you from a single artifact ability is just ridiculous and one of their marches will solo all of yours. That being said, it definitely has a lot of potential to be a really good game if it fixes a few problems, but if you’re not willing to spend some money- the game probably isn’t for you.
I've played both, was in the launch of CoD. Was even in BDO. For me, RoK is better for f2p than CoD. The fact that CoD is open field heavy AND the power spike between T4 and T5 is substantial, there are few opportunities for T4 to contribute. You simply will get steamrolled in the field by T5 players in CoD. In RoK, you can still contribute and meet kingdom kp requirements by helping with rallying and garrisoning with your T4. To me, that gives the advantage to RoK. Also, flag and fort building and burning is just not as exciting in CoD. You just send your gatherers to swarm flags with no penalty, other than time. One of the more exciting and anxious fighting moments in RoK is rallying. Yeah, Lilith needs to fix the multi-hour pass rallies, but flag rallies are always fun. CoD just doesn't have that.
As a 35m power t4 player still in BDO I definitley disagree that there are few opportunities for T4 to contribute. You just have to be active and smart about how you fight.
100% agree. When I was playing CoD f2p I would always get smacked by T5, end up with minimal kills, then run out of Elixir & be out of it. Much more ways to contribute in RoK
Not too long Chis. Good vid. I quit cod for the change of season stuff. It felt like they wiped everything you worked for and fractured your community. It felt like chaos in the new season.
Devs in call of dragons have announced home kingdoms coming in a couple months, no more hero level resets LFG, also roots of war league is coming later in the year
you mentioned quite a lot of points on both sides ... so there is no limit to duration of this video. Good job ... i love RoK but need to have a look on CoD. Thx for your work!
I loved the beginning of COD but after two resets and multiple alliances collapsing I gave up. Seeing some of the upcoming updates are promising and I may give it another shot once they're in place.
There's one topic about CoD that i dont think you put enough emphasis on. There is a backstabbing/traitor meta built into the community at this moment in time. Every single season either an alliance completely switches sides or the fighters of a losing alliance just bail to the winning side. I've had too many seasons that just turn into farmville because of this happening. And alliance leaders and servers cant be held to a certain standard because the seasons and everything else reset. Until this one major issue is addressed, i will refuse to touch the game. You briefly touched on it but i think there needs to be a bigger emphasis put on it. After being betrayed 3+ seasons in a row, i expected you to note that.
call of dragons does not let whales poke their stupid noses into the affairs of the game, and remains friendly to f2p, despite the whining of whales in attempts to bend the game to themselves, score 10/10, while rok is turned into a huge whale dump p2w, score 0/10, a game of collecting resources for months for 2 days of battles. Rok was killed by whales 2 years ago. This is no longer a game, but a trading platform.
Opinion of a 43 million power F2p in CoD: I agree with your rating of 8/10, here's why: You're limited to 1k gems gathered per week Artifacts as you mentioned are hard to work on (but being able to spend 60k gems now to unlock an artifact of your choice is a huge win for f2p!!) They added a new shadow feature recently that really helps f2p: you can now max spin the wheel of destiny if you save tickets across 5 seasons. 45k gems for two tsl hero unlocks This is more expensive than RoK, but it's at least a step in the right direction! Also the fact that people can't buy rss is HUGE in this game. You have so much more of a chance to be meaningful in the fights by leveraging your activity, instead of getting swarmed by botters. I can think of ways to make the game a 9/10 for F2P, maybe a 9.5, but imo this game is the best kingdom builder currently on the market for F2P
I actually played both ROK and COD but i stopped playing both but recently i want to get back into COD but i was wondering how hard it is to get back into the game and if it is even worth it for me to play my account or just make a new one
Great video! Anyone that plays either or both of these games should ve watching to the end. I only play rok but was wonderful to see the differences. Thank you for your time putting this together!!
Age of empires.... As an F2P i see EOEM To be effective in all aspect. First u get important commanders that do good early to mid game. You can also get the more strong ones in the future. How? You have lots of way to get their tokens with different game modes. 2nd u get rss easy by not sacrificing alot. U can even pick up rss, and u get alot of free stuff from doing quest. 3rd open field is not the main play for players, rallies are prioritize to win battles and wars. Going up to a citadel the attack head on will cost u more even is u have strong commanders, being in a rally is more effective. Open field commanders are just there to kill reinforcements. And for u to win u can winn effectively wheb u fight rallies with rallies. 4th alliances are easy to understand and objective is easier to understad. 5th even with no stamina u can join rallies and get rss for free. And many many more. And cmon, the level of skill doesnt matter in Rok because heroes with aoe are priotize over heroes with non. Y? Because AOE GOOD AND MORE DMGG? Where's the skill? In EOEM u need to think more effective line ups and troop types to be effective. As for community, ROK is toxic they will pick a spender or mid spender rather f2p. In EEOM ur f2p? U still matter because ur activity matters the most. As for COD damn that game is dying they just milking all the whales theg can 😂 EEOM is young and in beta but it has the potential compared to both. Dont get me started with doing another acc for u to get more rss 😂 ugh soo tedious but you just build and do fog. So retarded man 😂😂😂 Anyways been playing RoK as a f2p it was never good and i sticked to it hoping i can matter more as an f2p in the end u need gems to be more stronger. The the art and graphics stomps both games but tbh COD has some intersting mechanics but yeah i see that money still matters in that game more. In the future EEOM makes me want to spend to support the game not because i need to. Hopefully ppl realize it more and more EEOM you tubers come. Peace.
Do you think ROK will ever implement the ranged attack mechanics and a better map ? I love the aesthetic of the commanders and the general thema of history more than the fantasy theme and character design of CoD. However i love the map and ranged/tanking mechanics of CoD more.
While I think the 87 score is fair for ROK and 104 is fair for COD. I think the simplicity of no braining in ROK is also a very intentional design. I love this video. Helped me a lot when deciding if I wanted to keep playing ROK or not. Thank you!
While a longer video, it was still good quality for what was being discussed. To go shorter would be to leave out important details. One thing you didn't discuss was the world settings... historical fiction verses fantasy fiction. To me, that is a huge thing. I am not into random fantasy. I really only like LOTR. Put COD into an LOTR world, and I am in. Otherwise, historical fiction is preferred.
great content chisgule! RoK for me, I dont really like the reset system in every game that is why i dont like Call of Dragons and also DragonHeir silent gods. Every player has a different type of the game but Great content overall
GG CHIS LOVE TUIS VIDEO AS USUAL! Llayed both, rok forcyears and now CoD since bleginning. I agree these changes need to happen in the next year, and i believe it will happen. When rhey do CoD will be ANOTHER Tier above RoK. Both are great, but CoD will be PHENOMENAL!
CoD is less sweaty f2p friendly like you cant chain, you cant gather unlimited gems etc. Im f2p and I might make an account in CoD cause you dont have to do as much as in ROK like having 5+ farms, chaining and gathering gems.
The primary reason I don't play COD is because I'm already so invested in ROK and spent $$, time etc. So its hard to restart and do another game. I wish some of the features in COD (combat, graphics, equipment/armaments) were moved or simplified in ROK. We'll see hopefully the new graphics updates changes some dynamics in the game to make it more fun for OG ROK players.
Rise of Kingdoms is much more free to play friendly because of a few reasons: barbarian chaining in ROK gives you a lot of materials and speedups (not possible in COD); gem gathering is much quicker and unlimited in ROK (very slow in COD and limited too); commander sculptures are not limited to seasons allowing to hoard and invest in end game (not possible in COD). Therefore in the long term ROK is much more free to play friendly because it allows to grind to progress where COD does not. This criteria is much more important than what Chisgule has considered
I agree these are nice f2p things in rok. But they don’t matter when compared to crystal tech. It’s literally not possible for any amount of f2p grinding to match what can be accomplished with a few credit card swipes on crystal technology.
Rise of Kingdoms is the most unbalanced game dude, that's why the whales took over the game and destroyed the balance, you can save up gold sculptures as much as you want, you will always be behind the whale even with actual commanders
Tbh even I only play rok I like cod more in every aspect. Huge fan of graphics, healing and fighting in cod. I just don’t hv time to start another city building game all over again. 😢
Great video, Chisgule. It was very detailed and I believe will help players have the options of which game they prefer more. I never played Rok myself, so it was good to see the comparisons in detail. I extremely love cod. It's fantastic and is only getting better with time. Made some great friends along the way. Thank you, and keep the content coming!
For how long Rok has been out. The fighting is extremely lack luster. Lag lag lag no matter what set up you have. Giving it a 3 is extremely generous haha.
No it's not too long, it's just as long as it needs ti be. I watched it fully. The great matter is, thatvthe combat in Call of Dragons is not so intuitive. And since they both require a good amount of spending even a medium spender cannot afford to play both games. I tried Call of Dragons and Although it is interesting what reallybturned me off was its complexity as being not very intuitive. Alsi the fact you have to re-level up the commanders and tecnology at every season, the migration aspect. But at it's core the spending required to level up makes you have to choose between one game or another. Since Rise of Kingdoms is more simple, even though its bundles are a little less cheap than those of Call of Dragons, I decided to stick with ROK since I was already playing it. Also, the time the games require is a turn off. You simply cannot afford unless you are full time, to play both games. It's too exausting. Most players will not migrate if rhey have already a solid account and farms, timewise and spendingwise it's just not practical. If they where both free to play friendly and the costs went extremely down, and if they required less time to play, then I might definetively ho for both. But as they where built, sticking to one of them is probably the wisest option. So I will stick with ROK. Can't play them both
I wish they would just scrap the armament system and add in “pets” of some sort to rok! They got to start putting the good stuff from each game into the other game. I had no idea the fighting was so dynamic in rod… makes me sad that any game has better open field combat than rok. 😢
Good fair comparison. I played both games but stopped playing CoD after about 5 months. I tried it .... I just much prefer RoK. & I hope RoK does not do the graphics update. I actually disliked it in CoD for some reason.
The first time i tried COD it was a deception. The art, the gameplay... all of that was just imo. I prefer ROK by far, all the way from commanders based on actuall character from history, to the gameplay and art.
Same debate as civ 5 vs civ 6 to me. Rok is more realistic with historical figures and easy to learn hard to master while cod is more cartoonish with really exciting new features
You mention cod being more free to play friendly like there isn’t a cap on how many times your troops can leave your city to hit them and the lack of barb chaining and unless it was changed the gem farming was capped in cod as well unlike in Rok and let’s talk about the wheels for new commanders idk if it had an update sense last I logged on but cods wheel is far from free to play friendly both games have there good and bad sure and everyone has preferences but honestly sounded like this video was made to make your sponsor cod happy especially with the low player count it was or could still be having
I think cod is better and people just stick to rok due to their high investment and because its too similiar to leave behaind what they already know, objectively cod is just better
I think that the community system togheter with this harmless fantasy-like graphics in Call of Dragons is in fact aimed towards younger audience. Why I think that? Kids nowadays wants an "easy" way out, meaning if they don't like someone anymore or in general don't like people they are with or leadership did something they don't like at the end of the season they tell you "cya nerd" go to other alliance and don't have to deal with this person/people anymore where in Rise of Kingdoms even though you have other alliance in kingdoms you still somewhat has to play with those people in same KvK's and migrating cost you and if you are not prepeare than you has to stay untill you'll be able to migrate out which in some cases will make them stop playing at all. In other words it's easier to throw a tantrum in CoD than in RoK because you have easier way out since CoD isn't as centralized towards king/kingdom leadership and playing as a whole kingdom/server.
This video turned out WAY longer than I had intended, and that's even with my not even reading a fraction of the notes I'd set aside for myself for this video lol. Do you think it's good to play now?
Is it too late to start playing ROK now? I feel like if I start now im way behind on many things
A new kingdom is created around every 1.5 days, so you won't be behind
Opinion of a 43 million power F2p in CoD:
I agree with your rating of 8/10, here's why:
You're limited to 1k gems gathered per week
Artifacts as you mentioned are hard to work on (but being able to spend 60k gems now to unlock an artifact of your choice is a huge win for f2p!!)
They added a new shadow feature recently that really helps f2p:
you can now max spin the wheel of destiny if you save tickets across 5 seasons. 45k gems for two tsl hero unlocks
This is more expensive than RoK, but it's at least a step in the right direction!
Super helpful, thanks!
I actually played both ROK and COD but i stopped playing both but recently i want to get back into COD but i was wondering how hard it is to get back into the game and if it is even worth it for me to play my account or just make a new one
Holy crap this is a new video i just noticed 😂, definitely learned a lot as a new player for CoD
What are you using to play those games? Emulator or something like that?
Pc version
A Very Enjoyable 56 Minute Video !, All the points that are mention are solid, Might actually try CoD now :)
I think things will change a lot this summer, changes to RoK and dragons but also new games coming like AoE mobile as well
Great video! Anyone that plays either or both of these games should ve watching to the end. I only play rok but was wonderful to see the differences. Thank you for your time putting this together!!
56:25 it was a good video✨
just hope cod fixes the flag spamming in 1 spot and i think it would be nearly a perfect game
Was very helpful for a recap on both.
As for COD damn that game is dying they just milking all the whales theg can 😂
EEOM is young and in beta but it has the potential compared to both.
Dont get me started with doing another acc for u to get more rss 😂 ugh soo tedious but you just build and do fog. So retarded man 😂😂😂
Anyways been playing RoK as a f2p it was never good and i sticked to it hoping i can matter more as an f2p in the end u need gems to be more stronger.
The the art and graphics stomps both games but tbh COD has some intersting mechanics but yeah i see that money still matters in that game more. In the future EEOM makes me want to spend to support the game not because i need to.
Hopefully ppl realize it more and more EEOM you tubers come.
Peace.
What is eeom?
The mechanics I love about ROK absent in COD 😅 guess I’ll revisit in a few months
Do you think ROK will ever implement the ranged attack mechanics and a better map ? I love the aesthetic of the commanders and the general thema of history more than the fantasy theme and character design of CoD. However i love the map and ranged/tanking mechanics of CoD more.
Yeah I think they should change the way fighting works. Archers actually fighting as archers would be very cool
I watched it whole🎉 keep it up 💪
While I think the 87 score is fair for ROK and 104 is fair for COD. I think the simplicity of no braining in ROK is also a very intentional design. I love this video. Helped me a lot when deciding if I wanted to keep playing ROK or not. Thank you!
Could ROK add Artefacts or some kind of pet system? What would stop them from adding that?
Rok is story-based, CoD is fantasy heroes in Cod developers can do everything according to their imagination.
Man if only i had options to fuse some things of both the games and make a new one, you literally have the best game at your hands.
Ok now I'm actually interested in call of dragons you got me hooked
While a longer video, it was still good quality for what was being discussed. To go shorter would be to leave out important details. One thing you didn't discuss was the world settings... historical fiction verses fantasy fiction. To me, that is a huge thing. I am not into random fantasy. I really only like LOTR. Put COD into an LOTR world, and I am in. Otherwise, historical fiction is preferred.
great content chisgule! RoK for me, I dont really like the reset system in every game that is why i dont like Call of Dragons and also DragonHeir silent gods. Every player has a different type of the game but Great content overall
Honestly I agree with everything you said, I personally believe that if rok would improve open field combat, it would be 10x better
when will you go back to kvk 2 with your restart account
What annoys me is, how to keep up with all these new heroes, wont the older one get trash, because if they stay good, who will invest in new ones
Chisgule don’t worry I always watch your ROK full video and livestreams no matter how long 😂
I made it till the end !! wanted to know if i come back on RoK or just go on CoD
Watched the whole thing!
Wow, 57 minute video. Time to buckle up 🍿📝
Watched the whole thing I enjoyed the insight
Which one has less spenders 😅
GG CHIS LOVE TUIS VIDEO AS USUAL! Llayed both, rok forcyears and now CoD since bleginning. I agree these changes need to happen in the next year, and i believe it will happen. When rhey do CoD will be ANOTHER Tier above RoK. Both are great, but CoD will be PHENOMENAL!
Definitely not way shorter, i got excited to see an hour long Chisgule vid drop on a lazy Sunday !
Day 1 of asking: Pls make a video of the new meta in Champion of olympia and an explanation of Ceroli Crisis event. PLs and Thx
CoD is less sweaty f2p friendly like you cant chain, you cant gather unlimited gems etc. Im f2p and I might make an account in CoD cause you dont have to do as much as in ROK like having 5+ farms, chaining and gathering gems.
you cant say rok is less p2p
@@roblettin its not less p2w but you cant do stuff that f2ps do to compete with p2ws.
@@Nicko0 you cant play f2p after kvk 3 what you mean barb chaining isnt saving that maybe i d kingdoms but who cares d kingdoms really
Sadly, bot games are very time consuming
I agree these are nice f2p things in rok. But they don’t matter when compared to crystal tech. It’s literally not possible for any amount of f2p grinding to match what can be accomplished with a few credit card swipes on crystal technology.
Rise of Kingdoms is the most unbalanced game dude, that's why the whales took over the game and destroyed the balance, you can save up gold sculptures as much as you want, you will always be behind the whale even with actual commanders
COD is just superior in every way imo
How about factions?
Really great video, man. 🤘
Havent played RoK in several years and never played CoD. Made it to the end of the video.
Sent you an email if you happen to read this.
COD is good but it's not F2P friendly at all.... Legendary tokens are hard to come by 😢
nice vid
For how long Rok has been out. The fighting is extremely lack luster. Lag lag lag no matter what set up you have. Giving it a 3 is extremely generous haha.
49:13 Troop lose was at 100% BISHHH IM IN THAT NOW! I lose like 500k min a season god i wish we got half back. Just saying.
Typical lillith taking the piss honestly . Money grab on a new (COPY) game instead of giving a better user experience for existing paying customers
Rise looks more beautiful tho x) Love the buildings (but always liked that era) COd cities look pretty boring. They dont feel connected
I'm f2p!!!! It's bad still fun even tho I'm getting rolled over like I don't even exist in rok and cod
Personally I like rok more because it seems more realistic and historical, over cod’s mythical/fantasy feeling.
The first time i tried COD it was a deception. The art, the gameplay... all of that was just imo. I prefer ROK by far, all the way from commanders based on actuall character from history, to the gameplay and art.
You forgot to say “smashing the kingdom” in the end haha.
If rok had incorporated some things that were put into cod and vice versa they both would be great games instead of just good games
Good informative vid. Length was fine. CoD player.
I have alot of great memories in rok but CoD pvp is just way more fun imo
Chisgule hyung (big bro respectfully in Korean) noticed me 🥰Your video about becoming a content creator inspired me to start posting on Reddit.
Same debate as civ 5 vs civ 6 to me. Rok is more realistic with historical figures and easy to learn hard to master while cod is more cartoonish with really exciting new features
I just love the way COD looks so I'm sticking to that 😂
Good video! Might sound ridiculous but I can't get past the game lore for CoD.
Not having universals in cod hurts so bad man 😭
I’m here for the new changes for RoK
Neither of these games are F2P friendly.
In other words it's easier to throw a tantrum in CoD than in RoK because you have easier way out since CoD isn't as centralized towards king/kingdom leadership and playing as a whole kingdom/server.
if you have to spend money doesn't matter is not f2p friendly
Chisgule my guy, what do you do for a job to be able to spend nearly 200k on games!!?!?
You're looking at it lol videos
I played both and prefer playing RoK
Same. After the first season reset in CoD, I quit. It's fckin stupid.
Same. I played for about 5 months before I stopped. Just got over it. Can't really tell you why either ... But I looove RoK.
I’m having to play both because of my alliance members 😂
