Of all the 80 guitar players. I spent countless hours learning all of warrens solos when I was younger. His solos never sound safe. He cuts loose and it works and always compliments the song. He is one of the best
He transitions to a C# mixolydian to a C# minor pentatonic to get his "Warren" sound. Freaking brilliant! His phrasing makes him so unique. Probably one of the most underated guitarist to come out of the 80's.
Warren was my all-time-favorite guitarist of the 80's, aside from George Lynch. These two virtuosos played clean, clear and rarely missed a note. Perefectionists, despite the distortion pedals. I still own a VHS cassette from RATT's original days where Warren was the quiet, shy kid on the tour. On stage, though, he was THE man.
Warren is so underrated in a lot of ways, but everyone who gets/got more press than him knows how potent he is. And I think that is part of his genious, and definitely his epitaph. He's so bluesy, melodic and laid back. His chops here really capture that mid-80s signature Ratt feel. It's been ages since I've been excited about a news studio release by anyone. Can't wait for this new release.
Warren is one of the few guitarists I could sit and watch play all day--Lynch is another one I could watch all day too. Just awesome phrasing, IMO, and really well spoken melodic playing overall.
Been a fan since the moment I heard Round And Round the very first time. I remember exactly where I was too...headed up a hill in a rich suburb on my way to a house party. RATT was my favorite band in the 80s. I'd jam Invasion of Your Privacy over and over non-stop. I'm really happy to hear that they're back together and releasing new music in the vein of OOTC and IOYP, my fave 2 albums from them. It's just too bad Robin isn't around for this.
Warren rocks - I always thought his style was a mix of Joe Perry and EVH - blues based licks with smooth legato. And he played with great feel, not just flash... one of the best of the 80s
Special thanks to Robert and Julien for constructing this - Had a good time recording this lead and had a good time making this bit -- THANKS MATES! WD
Man I miss the 70s/ 80s. All of these Guys were so inspirational, From Jake E Lee, to Lynch. They woke up the Guitar generation, but you gotta give a bow to the Man who re invented it all. Mr Edward Van Halen
Warren...right on brother! Love it....can't wait to hear the finished product! Remember....let me know when u want to make a copy of the master tape from the Ballys show....Michael
Many of the 80's metal guitarist have a similiar vibe and style, it's just the nature of music. To sell albums, the talented bands gave there fan base what they wanted, THATS how you become successful. Plus, they didn't have near the choice of hardware we do now. It was pretty much Marshall, Peavy, Gibson, Charvell, Kramer and Fender. Most used the Tube Screamer and Boss disortion. Using a limited gear base gives them all a similiar sound. I LOVE IT ALL!
7 years later...ha. I think Mick Mars was unique and Motley was still one of the most successful. Though Mick wasn't appreciated as a guitarist like all the post EVH inspired guitarists were. Imo Mainly because people weren't celebrating Rhythm- riff guitar.. more about fast technical soloing.
Seriously starting to believe Infestation WILL resemble a cross btw OOTC and IOYP like Pearcy is saying. That would be a ridiculously awesome gift at this stage ... please bring it!!! Just got married oct 3 in the catskill region - the song I had the DJ play as we were introduced into the reception as husband and wife?? - You're In Love!! and yeah it was loud!! DeMartini's aweome ... just a great guy too. Always gracious when approached by fans .. can't say enough. RATT n ROLL!!
I agree, Vai mentions him alot when asked about 80s shredding. Rumour has it the solo to "Your in Love" was off the cuff, according to an old Guitar World mag I had years ago.
Warren, like all really great guitarists had an instantly recognizable "sound" and style? his solos and phrasing are awesome! easily one of the best along with George Lynch of that generation.
Warren is a great songwriter and guitarist. Big fan of Carlos and Bobby. Stephen, vocals sound killer. I wish these guys the best of luck on their new album. Just listening to the first song out - Best of me - this outta hit the charts.
Warren and Lynch are two of my favorite shredders, starting back in the 80s. Check out a recent shredder on RUclips channel BenHigginsOfficial. He covers solos from a variety of shredders and does so rather well.
Warren is cool. I would love to write some songs with him. His licks are tasty and he comes with no emotional baggage crap like many other musicians. Had a great time back in the 80's seeing him play live in RATT and watching their videos one by one being released on MTV when it truely was MTV and not this shit-ola they produce to "entertain" us nowadays.
DeMartini is amazing!.........What a cool solo & video.............I love how he warms up & then when it's time to give it another run through he just tears it up......I love watching a player w/ this kind of talent & drive........Does anyone know what song this is? I need to go buy it from i-tunes........Peace! X-Mann Oh & post more videos like this one......Pleace......
I agree man, Warren had a great vibrato, great at legato, and his choice of notes were very pleasing to the ear.. His leads were always beautiful and melodic mixed in with his great vibrato ,tone and phrasing.. but like I said his choice of notes really made his solos nice to listen too.. He didn't get enough credit.. I often wondered why.. It sure wasn't because of his playing..
I agree, Warren was awesome. I think he did not get much credit because there were simply better shredders who mastered every possible way how to play guitar unlike Warren who had just his excellent timing and legato but his picking hand was really sloppy.
Ratt had soooo many good songs and their performances were great. They did cash in on it for a short time but should have big longer. But the industry put a stop to the momentum by pushing Grunge. Alot of great bands suffered from that garbage.
Just fluid and not a bunch of jacking off and fx. Always the top of my top 5. Warren is the guy that could plug his guitar straight into an amp and tear shit up. Lynch never had the flow that Warren has. Still love George tho!
LOVE Warren!...I saw him once on the Invasion of your Privacy tour back in about 1987 and he was so not sober that he had to be carried onto stage...he stood in one place the entire show and played perfectly..I was amazed
Thx for the info. jake seems to have alot of issues--always has, socially, I think to some extent. btw, if you are a big Badlands fan, like I was, check out the band during rehearsal on here, it's pretty great. Real hard-to-find stuff.
@bradski01 Yup....I saw that right after I posted my comments & yes the whole album ROCKS......Great stuff.......I was amazed at how much I like it........The tune "Scatter" is da bomb for me.......Peace! X-Mann
Awesome stuff! :) Can't wait to hear more! With the resurgence of proper rock in the last couple of years, are we heading for a rock revival next decade? I seriously hope so!
No one told Vito Bratta to stop playing...Warren still tours and makes music. I don't like it when talented people let their talents go to waste!............Joey Tempest............Hello....Where are you?
He got plenty of credit. He did well for himself. Remember, there were many great guitarists in the 80s. He was always on everyone's lests as one of the top 10. Yeah, very very unique player tho. Very distinctive style. Resembles Lynch somewhat. But both share a common history together. So sure they influenced one another.
Of all the 80 guitar players. I spent countless hours learning all of warrens solos when I was younger. His solos never sound safe. He cuts loose and it works and always compliments the song. He is one of the best
His style, his sound, the more i listen to it and more i discover something extraordinary in his playng ...War in D rocks !!!!
He transitions to a C# mixolydian to a C# minor pentatonic to get his "Warren" sound. Freaking brilliant! His phrasing makes him so unique. Probably one of the most underated guitarist to come out of the 80's.
It reminds me of Michael Schenker who often drops into Dorian mode. It wakes your ears up and sounds fresh.
Hes always had his own unique phrasing, instantly recognizable, love him!
Something about his phrasing is pure 80's magic.
Absolutely. His phrasing and soloing set him apart from other players.
If Van Halen and Joe Perry had a baby, it would be Warren DeMartini.
@@latkagravas9011 slash already has that coined.
@@orgasmicdaveslash is Miles behind Warren . Not even close
Thank U Warren for letting all your fans see U in the studios..... Love U & God bless......

post that sht brohan (please).
I think Warren and Vito Bratta never got the true recognition they deserved...amazing guitar players
Yeah just like Vito Bratta and many hair metal/glam guitarists. They are terribly underrated.
Wonderful to see this. Warren is such a tasteful player and an an enormous influence on so many guitar players. A criminally underrated guitarist....
intense slicing leads that are melodic at the same time. Thank you Warren for your dedication.
WARREN Has always been one of my Favorite Players ..... Awsome Chops, Melody, Note Choice, Tone , Riffs !
His solos are instantly recognizable as being from him.
Yeah, cause they sucked so bad
heading to Arizona this weekend to see you guys rock, Ratt N Roll forever!

Can't wait for this new release.
Been a Ratt fan since 1984. I'm stoked to see these guys back together. I can't wait til this comes out. Frickin AWESOME!!
This is going to be one of the most famous solos in Ratt history.. just because we've all listened to it about a thousand times ;)
Warren is one of the few guitarists I could sit and watch play all day--Lynch is another one I could watch all day too. Just awesome phrasing, IMO, and really well spoken melodic playing overall.
The gist of all of Warren's solos are so melodic and fierce with a perception of face-melting. : o
Him and Reb Beach were my absolute favorites from that era
Hell Yeah! it still has that 80's sound
you still got it warren, it's just awesome, thank you for come back. this song sound like RATT
Oh man...this is OUTSTANDING...can't wait for more! WarN D is the man!!
Warren is my favorite player of the decade. Just phenomenal and truly unique!

Warren-great guitar player!!!
Warren rocks - I always thought his style was a mix of Joe Perry and EVH - blues based licks with smooth legato. And he played with great feel, not just flash... one of the best of the 80s
That's actually a great description, Perry meets Eddie....perfect for Warren's chops-but-loose style.
Agree....solo is AWESOME...and i too really love the groove at 1:13....
Immaculate phrasing, Warren'sup there with the best
Wow!!!! That. Was. Awesome.
Now that’s a world class lead guitarist - incredible phrasing and intricacy

You said it!
Warren has a lot of Michael Schenker influence...right from the begining of a solo he is so characteristic that you know is him playing
Seriously starting to believe Infestation WILL resemble a cross btw OOTC and IOYP like Pearcy is saying. That would be a ridiculously awesome gift at this stage ... please bring it!!!

Warren's style is so unique and very tricky sometimes to play with his phrasing. One of the all time greats.
No... He just sucked
@@SpikeMichaels He plays behind the beat, which gives the music a sense of forward motion. Really cool trick. Makes the song way more interesting.
