You seem interested in the history in some of your videos, so here's the lowdown on the GameBoy FF games. It's hard to believe, but there was a time when RPGs of all stripes weren't super popular in the west. The success of something like the original Final Fantasy game on the NES was an anomaly, not the norm. So in the west, everyone knew what Final Fantasy was, and a lot of people loved it. Nobody knew(yet) what a SaGa or Mana game was. So when they brought FF Legend 1-3(SaGa) and FF Adventure(Mana) to the GameBoy, they changed the name so that people would associate them with something they already knew and loved, thus selling more units. And it worked.
All the Legend of Heroes Trails in the sky are on the pc and I highly recommend them! My only problem with them is you go to the same places throughout the 3 games. Trails of Cold Steel games are a lot of fun also same combat system as Trails in the sky only upgraded with a lot more fun things. I think the best thing about all the legend of heroes games is they are all in the same world so lots and lots of story building.
Saga/Final Fantasy Legend II was my first Squaresoft RPG so I have a great fondness though not the first JRPG I played, that was Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior I or the first JRPG I beat, that was Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior II which I beat a couple of weeks before getting Saga/Final Fantasy Legend II Also I believe Trails in the Sky II was released physically outside of Japan and I know you can get the entire trilogy digitally for the PC outside of Japan because that's how I own it. I have the Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology edition for 3DS but I've been too busy playing Nostalgia to try it yet.
I introduced myself in the rpg world through an action platformer / RPG hybrid called Gargoyle's Quest. Them I played Final Fantsy Adventure (the first Seiken) and FF Legend II. I've been a fan of console RPGs since then.
I think the love for the Trails in the Sky story was more about Estelle's character growth than the overall story. I enjoyed them quite a bit. Trails in the Sky SC, and 3rd can be bought via steam for PC.
The first JRPG I ever played was Final Fantasy Legend III on Gameboy back in 1993 along with Zelda: Link's Awakening as my first action adventure the same year as I only had a Gameboy at the time. I got a SNES and NES in 1995 to play Chrono Trigger and the original Final Fantasy.
All three chapters of The Legend of Heroes IV: Trails in the Sky have been released in The West. The first two chapters are available digitally in the Vita's PS Store, while sadly the third chapter is PC only. There is a Vita version of Chapter 3, but it was only released in Japan.
You can get the English patches for the Evolution versions (HD remakes with full voice acting and a lot more things) on Vita now for all three Trails in the Sky games if you have Henkaku on your Vita.
Great video, I would highly recommend the Trails of Cold Steel games! I’m playing through the first one right now and absolutely love it and can’t wait to play the 2nd one right after. And per your recommendation after I finish both I’m going to go and play Trails in the Sky. Keep up the great work, new sub!
Thank you very much. I really want to play Cold Steel but I'm waiting on them to go down in price, physically (I don't like paying for digital stuff...unless it's digital only.)
I was wondering where was Radiant Historia, haha. I would have added Golden Sun too. By the way, you can find the whole Trails in the Sky trilogy on GOG for less than 50 dollars. They are for PC though.
Trails in the Sky 2 is on the ps store for Vita and has been for years. I'm playing it right now. I bought Cold Steel for the Vita and then found out about TITS (What an acronym) and decided to play them first. 3 came out on PC but after you made this video.
1:46 was my first RPG ever, and boy was i young and clueless... it was just too tough back then, and i too got stuck in a boss battle... maybe the same one. I really need to replay this.
Ironic in that I watched this video right after a session playing Radiant Historia PC! I’m almost becoming as high on this as the Trails series.. Great characters and although I hadn’t finished it yet I hope we see more of them in the future..
I think I played dragon warrior first. Also I got final fantasy legend 2 for 30 off my landlord. Box is mint. I was amazed. He knew I was a collector and he wasn't so he cut me a sweet deal.
Você poderia fazer vídeos semanais mais curtos falando de um jogo em específico (enredo, mecânicas, curiosidades, etc) p/ apresentá-los ao público e incentivar outras pessoas a jogarem o título.
If you're looking for GREAT games to Buy and haggle with people? I recommend Mercari. You'll love the prices and the simple way to find a lot of great condition games.
The battle system of the Mystic Chronicles game it'so similar to one called RPG Machine Knight (a phone RPG game). It's from the same studio? PD: If you loved the Krogan from the Mass Effect series, you will love Griek. Oh my Satan.. He's so freaking awesome. Hexyz Force it's a game with good replay value (different endings and story, 6 in total)
honestly, the second chapter are way harder than the First one imo all the first game of trail series serve more as character introduction while the later game will focus more on the story
It's always sad having to sell any part of a collection i myself have never sold a big chunk but even just getting rid of 2-3 games is hard can't really think i'd be able to part with mine lol. Anyways as always great video man Trais in the sky is good but Trails of Cold Steel an absolute favorite of mine and if you have not played it i really recommend. I'm not sure about entries number 10 and 9 but i'm not really into gameboy rpgs and rpgs that seem so geared towards children but that's just me. Also bro fanservice is always a plus lol don't know why you go saying that's a downside.
I've noticed you're okay with Ar Tonelico Qoga, the only game other than Final Fantasy X-2 in which fanservice plays an actual role, unlike, say, Magna Carta, in which it's just there. Also on topic, I love how Tales objectifies both genders equally, however it's deliberately harder to get swimsuits for girls in Graces F. Especially in the last few games you have really good looking dudes like Malik, Eizen, Gaius and even the bare chested Zaveid. In fact, I've heard the Japanese fanbase consists of 40% women!
radiant historia kinda started just alright, a bit boring but im 36 hours in and its really awesome (with a few flaws) but the story is starting to climax
the "fanservice" of super robot taisen a downside? XD *lol* you even calling yourself a MAN, or not? pfff come on... PS - I own most of those games physical.
It's like a religion that is forced on you in that game. There's always too much of anything. BTW, I like that the Tales franchise offers fanservice to both genders.
To be fair, there's a reason why in the fandom they call it endless tits, the fanservice and constant sexual jokes and innuendos are very in your face rather than being a nice bonus you get once a while
Absolutely love the Suikoden series, but I actually really enjoyed Tierkris too.

I've already purchased the 3DS Remake of Radiant Historia, which is now entitled Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology.
Love your videos, plz don’t stop the great work
Love your username! Thank you!!
Trails in the Sky really great game. One of the best classic JRPGs.
Erick, I really resonate with your JRPG content. I Watched a bunch of videos and gave them upvotes. Great content. Keep up the good work!
Hey, thanks for your feedback!!!
my first 'rpg' was Adventure on Atari 2600
Funny how your first was FFL2. Mine was FFL3. It’s truly an underrated hidden gem. Best RPG music imo.

Man I love this guy! He has a love of JRPGs that only I can get in my family. I'd love to send him one of my copies of Suikoden 2
That'd be nice, hahahaha, please do so :p
Excellent video! Trim those guitar strings my dude, thought my screen was cracked haha
I didn't actually know many portable turn based games. Nice job man :)
Thank you.

I love the Disturbance in Augustria in the background ❤
Freaking love that theme

I will take a look at some of this I didn't know about myself. Thanks!

Trails in the sky 13:47 -
Top 3 :hexis force -
1:46 was my first RPG ever, and boy was i young and clueless... it was just too tough back then, and i too got stuck in a boss battle... maybe the same one. I really need to replay this.
Hi Erick. If you liked Mystic Chronicles you will love Legend of the Tetrarchs (Switch, PS4, Xbox ONE, Steam).
Ironic in that I watched this video right after a session playing Radiant Historia PC! I’m almost becoming as high on this as the Trails series.. Great characters and although I hadn’t finished it yet I hope we see more of them in the future..

Damn thats my first ever jrpg to played too. I was 14 at that time.
Jay's CD and hobby have some jrpgs for decent or absurd prices depending on your budget
SaGa 2 and 3 were remade for the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately they were only released in Japan but at least there exsist an english fan translation
Legend 2 and 3 there available on steam
If you're looking for GREAT games to Buy and haggle with people? I recommend Mercari. You'll love the prices and the simple way to find a lot of great condition games.
Grandia and Grandia II ARE being remastered... and I believe the first one is being re-released by the end of 2018.
great video !! thanks !!
I follow your channel. I heard you mention a psp rpg that started with the letter (L), but I cant find your reference again
Only ones I can think of are Lord of Arcana or Lunar Silver Star Harmony.
@@ErickLandonRPG ah ha!..... lord of arcana....thank you sir. Check out secret of Evermore snes. You'll love it

Machine knight is amazing, played it so many times.
@@shauncampbell9039 There was two endings right?
Legend of heroes TOTS second chapter is available in english version.. but I play in emulator..
Thanks for that info.
If you have a Vita you can buy Trails in the Sky Second Chapter digitally from The PS Store digitally.
All 3 games of the Sky trilogy are available on Steam
I started on PlayStation 1 final fantasy and suikoden 1 2
Radiant Historia
No Etrian Odyssey fam?
Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky was kind of fun, but way to easy, too cliched, and left me with little desire to play the next installment.
honestly, the second chapter are way harder than the First one
imo all the first game of trail series serve more as character introduction while the later game will focus more on the story
And Golden Sun?
No golden Sun?

If you had a twitch I'd watch it ;p
I wish I could but I need a much better equipment than what I already own.
Erick Landon RPG I know how it is. If you ever get those upgrades I think you'd be a great streamer
I think Endless Frontier has a sequel, but only in japan.
radiant historia kinda started just alright, a bit boring but im 36 hours in and its really awesome (with a few flaws) but the story is starting to climax
You shoud play bravely default
I did and I liked it, but I think it might be overrated; it was very average, in my opinion.
i pressed like then pressed dislike and then pressed like again,i'm just curious why people pressed dislike 😐
Huh? o___o
Erick Landon RPG hahaha 😆
You should make one top ten for Android and iOS
the "fanservice" of super robot taisen a downside? XD *lol* you even calling yourself a MAN, or not? pfff come on...

Lol, well, I am a man and I like girls, but I prefer REAL girls instead of overly sexualized cartoons, sorry =/
