    This qualifies as minutia, but, the master of ceremonies did bring it up. The Cincinnati Reds joined the National League in 1890. The St. Louis Cardinals joined the National League in 1892. Not sure how the Pirates, Cubs and Cardinals could be the only three professional sports franchises to operate in the same city and the same league for 130 + years. Adding the announced caveat of “within the last 137 years,” the Pirates joined the NL in 1887 and the Cubs joined n 1876.

    The only proof I need that Barry was on steroids is his head size. When he was a rookie for the pirates he was skinny, had a skinny neck and small head, then his head literaly grew 😂😂. Now he looks normal again lol. Either way, legend, and steroids or not, Barry could hit consistently with the best of them.

      You can only go by one thing, did Barry Bonds ever fail a drug test… no. Was Barry legal to play in every game he was in… yes. Are his records in the record books… yes. The reason being baseball has no reason to not have them in. The list back then changed daily , so steroids were legal some were not. Barry was so good they didn’t even pitch to him and still broke records. Barry is the only player I have ever watched live where the venders stopped in their tracks to watch him hit and ooh that sound when he hit it. Congratulations to Barry and his family and I tip my cap to the Pittsburgh organization, rich in history and now forever for me being a Giants fan will always have my admiration, they might as well shut the doors in Cooperstown if Barrys not in, the greatest player ever to lace them up and play between the lines and its not even close

    • @rayrussell6258
      @rayrussell6258 3 месяца назад

      @@thebrickleycollection2281 yes he did test positive for the drugs; records were seized in a police raid on BALCO, the lab that injected numerous athletes with these drugs. This evidence was used in court.
      Bonds was exposed by the evidence, it is undeniable. He even was found by MLB itself to have used banned drugs, when he was required to give a urine sample (not the same drugs as were given to him by BALCO, but it was a violation of MLB rules nonetheless.

    Manny Sanguillen is one of my favorite players on the Pirates. Seeing him get this honor was an emotional moment. It was well earned.
    Jim Leyland likewise proved his abilities as a Manager in Pittsburgh, and verified it in his long career with other clubs. He earned this honor.
    Bonds could not compete without using drugs, was chasing money not honors. He isn't in Cooperstown for that reason, and the Pirates are wrong. He did not earn this honor.
