    Pure Gold! Love it when people explain what they change, what effect it has and why change it. Far too many RUclipsrs don't go into this sort of detail.
    Also, nice to see you using Luminar Neo. Besides a great tool, I'm far happier supporting Skylum than other photo-editing companies.
    Cheers.

    I would love to see your video editing workflow! I started in photography so I use Ligtroom. I am now starting to wonder if there is a better way? I thought the keywords got embedded into my video files, turns out is just in the catalog not in the actual video. I have 20+ years of video that I have written keywords to in lightroom. It sucks that its not on the file it self. I would love to be able to move between Bridge and Lightroom and still use the same keywords. Best of wishes.

    Is it best to underexpose the picture so we can edit?

    • @Stasiek_Zabojca
      @Stasiek_Zabojca 2 года назад

      It all depends on the situation and lighting. If there is a risk, that some whites could be overexposed (so you won't be able to recover it), you intentionally undreexpose it a little bit so you won't overexpose whites while still being able to recover rest of the photo from shadows.
      On the other hand, if some parts of the photo could end up underexposed (too dark to recover blacks/deep shadows), you overexpose it a little bit.
      But there may be some situations with bad lighting when some parts may be underexposed and others may be overexposed and then it's hard to do anything about it.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 года назад +1

      I personally like to expose my photo so the brightest parts are saveable, so typically that means I need to underexpose a little. In this photo if I exposed correctly for her face, her shoulder would probably be overexposed which I don't want. With digital cameras it's easier to save the shadows and the opposite on film where you expose for the shadows instead!
      Always keep an eye on your histogram to make sure you aren't clipping blacks or whites too much when you do this. It might also take a bit of experimenting on your own camera to see how much you can push and pull your files.

    Are u using Luminar Neo urself on a professionell basis? If so, What made you use Luminar Neo over Adobe Lightroom or Affinity Photo. Did they pay you to edit with their software?

    • @ninjatogo
      @ninjatogo 2 года назад +2

      She says that the video is sponsored by the software creators, so they paid for her to edit with their software for this video. With that said, I personally use and love it for the color grading, and the AI tools.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 года назад

      Yes! I use a mixture of software and I have uploaded my actual Lightroom to Luminar workflow before (in my Luminar playlist, it's the video with me in the thumbnail against the autumn trees). I normally edit the colours in my photos with Lightroom, then either move to Photoshop for skin retouching OR I use Luminar when I want to speed my editing up (retouching and extra touches on the image). Since I already made that video before, I wanted to show how you can edit from beginning to end in JUST Luminar because for some people have a subscription service is not a good $$ option, compared to Luminar which you just pay for once. I've gotten paid to make Luminar videos in the past, I wasn't paid for this one in particular but the link in my description is affiliate. I also only accepted to make the other paid videos because I do think this is a great option for some people to edit with. I don't get paid to use the software in my own time, I just like using it as it genuinely helps me speed up my editing. Sorry for the long comment! I just want to be transparent.

    Is it possible to batch edit the global adjustments of a series in Neo? * Can files be saved as 16-bit tif. files?

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 года назад +1

      Yes, in the catalog view you can right click to copy adjustments, then paste it on to as many photos as you want. It will copy over the AI tools as well, but won't copy over localised adjustments like the Erase tool that I used here! And yes you can export 16 bit TIFF files too.

    mixed feelings. not so long ago your video sold me for LuminarAI, but honestly half the time the lightroom to luminar and back does not work...and even after six months there is no support for nikon z9 files. I am sorry but skylum, I am not falling for it again. the whole "neo" sounds like a trick to make you buy another software instead of maturing luminar AI.

    • @LuminarGlobal
      @LuminarGlobal 2 года назад

      Hi Daniel - could you please contact us at skylum.com/support so we can sort out the issue you're having with Luminar as a Lightroom plugin? As for Nikon Z9, I'm afraid, it's not supported by Luminar Neo either at the moment, but we are planning to add support to both apps.

    You seem to be working in reverse logic? Surely it would be better to correct blemishes before you skin smooth? The same with the tan lines? You also failed to mention you could then store the whole process as an ‘action’, so if you have more photos from the same shoot you can apply the whole effect in one click. Finally what computer are you working with? Neo is very power hungry and my i7 with 64gig machine isn’t instant like your video.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 года назад

      With editing in Luminar you can honestly do any step in any order - it's up to personal preference. I like doing skin softening first as some blemishes won't be visible after that. Then I get rid of any that are left. Tan lines, you can remove before or after, it doesn't really make a difference. And I have many videos about Luminar and have mentioned the presets/saving the template many times. I didn't want to sound too repetitive!
      I'm using a Mac Studio for this video which is extremely specced out for video editing.. but I used to use an intel iMac i9 and Luminar is just as snappy on that as it is on this Mac studio! All my other Luminar videos are on my iMac if you want to see that performance.
