I love these videos so much. Genuinely, as a person who's mainly in this game for the lore, these videos are always a fantastic watch. Your voice works with it so well, too! I'm excited to see what else you have in store.
I honestly dont have any real source for this, though I think it was implied somewhere in a book or dialogue (or at least that's what I got from it) that the Trial of One was given to the world, or specifically the Ministry as a kind if reward after the drowning of Celtor.
Considering that for all we really know of the Ministry's involvement with the Depths, they just want power at the expense of others, it would make some sense. To1 like in game could allow ministry recruits to quickly rise in power, giving the faction a significant advantage.
To1 being a sort of "reward" for the drowning of celtor would require a lot of context to really make sense. Like why is it in the Eastern luminant, why is the 4th prophet the one operating near it, why does it showing up happen so much later than the actual drowning of Celtor, ect. Like the two just don't FEEL linked to me without a lot of explanation that just don't have rn

I’m so glad there is finally a good RUclipsr who makes good comprehensive videos on Deepwoken lore. As someone who decided reading the entire wiki page on lore was a better way to learn the lore of deepwoken than RUclips, I’m glad there are finally good RUclips videos on it.

1st prophet is cool and all, but he can’t just rampage the world, there are people who can and will stop him. Every single faction leader solos Regent (Except maybe Rosen? Idk how strong he is, he’s kinda old), as for the first prophet, Drallis Ehr who is hella powerful (leader of the authority), Pleetsky and other faction leaders alongside Maestro Evengarde and other strong mfs can probably just mutually agree to beat the shit out of the first prophet, even if all of the prophets had an anime showdown, I’m pretty sure they can’t win against all the mad powerful people that would be there to stop him. Tactics suit the ministry better.
If they collectively worked together they could definitely take him down, but the main question I'm posing is: if they Ministry CAN cause great drownings, it must be a complicated process with lots of stipulations. Reason being, again, if the world united against the 1st prophet they probably could subdue him but in all reality that isn't what would happen. Regent, who's way weaker than the 1st even with the throne of Etris, can conduct his operations practically out in the open with only minor interference from the Authority. If that's what the FOURTH prophet can do, I'd argue the 1st could realistically plug walk up to a location, set a drowning up, and dare people to do something about. But he doesn't..

Love these war videos, super interesting. Just as a thought for the videos when you refer to a certain quote form a npc or other such thing, would you be open to showing a screenshot? It would make the content somewhat easier to understand and see how they link together in game.

It is known that Yun'shul didn't like offering of the Celtor City (Though they still accept it and understand that it is a normal offering to the human of Lumen). This may answer your question why the world hasn't drowned yet. Maybe the Ministry realized that and "Yeah let's not make them displeased again."
I think it's less that the offering was "disliked" and moreso that it was looked down upon in a way. Like "Oh wow, THIS is all you could get?". Like at the end of the day, the Depths is consuming the world, I highly doubt anything related to it would STOP YOU from artificially drowning something, but I'd never expect a drowned god to actually CONGRATULATE or be any kind of positive over such an offering simply because of how little us (and our world) really mean in the grand scheme of things.

I heard someone come up with a theory about the first prophet being in one of the deepest layers (like 7th), and thats probably why he doesnt have that much influence on the overworld anymore, dont know though, its pretty plausible for me at least.

The expansion of the Depths is tied to the drowned gods isn't it? The closer they are to waking, the larger the Depths become. The canticlysm stirred them from their slumber and now they are in the process of waking up, and there's nothing that can be done to stop it.
I'm not gonna say that a drowned god stirring WOULDN'T cause the depths to expand faster but it's not required
@@MakaraPip Well, originally, the Depths weren't even known about and the tides/voidsea never expanded. The misuse of the song is what started screwing everything up, and the only thing we know for sure misuing the song _does_ is wake the drowned gods. I guess my point is that we have no idea whether or not the song directly alters the depths, or whether they are exclusively changed through the drowned gods. Since the evidence we have points to the latter, that's what Im gonna go with. It could be that I missed some lore though, or that Im just flat out wrong. A lot of this game's lore is speculative, in the end.

It's specifically uses of the song that are considered "unnatural" which disturb the slumber of the drowned gods. For instance, resonances are considered natural unless corrupted, while the attunements are considered unnatural.

@@MakaraPip The developers only state that the song is what brought on the tides, and while it could be that they're referring to the song as a whole, there's a decent amount of evidence pointing towards it mainly being the attunements.
For one, it should be noted that when the song is brought up in the context of the Canticlysm, it's almost always used in reference to the attunements. While things like vow magic are cited, you never hear about resonances being a major part of it. In regards to resonances, they're something that come naturally to people. Sure, you need to go through a lot of conflict and growth, but there is nothing strange about the process of awakening one. When it comes to attunements, on the other hand, there is something distinctly unnatural about obtaining them. They require you to consume a mixture of blood and strange, elemental ingredients, each of which can be obtained from slain monsters. These points don't prove anything on their own but they are strange details nonetheless.
Next, take a look at Silentheart and the dialogue of the Dreadstar. While it at first seems like the Dreadstar despises the song as a whole, if you pay close attention to its words it becomes clear that isn't the case. It speaks on the "abuse of the song" and "heretical attunements," forcing you to kill the attunement trainers while allowing you to retain the use of your resonance and murmur. The abilities of Silentheart are supernatural and magic in nature, meaning they also make use of the song. Silentheart doesn't cut you off from the song, it simply 'silences' you, much like how galebreathe 'suffocates' you, preventing only the use of attunements and mantras. For some reason, the Dreadstar despises attunements specifically.
Finally, on the topic of blindseer, Arch Mage has said that it is less likely to cause a drowned god to stir. As oaths make use of the song, like all magic does, this means that some applications of the song are more detrimental to the world than others, tying back into my main argument.
I could be totally wrong here, maybe the stuff with the Dreadstar is just an oversight, or maybe it hates attunement users not for what they've done to the world but because it was specifically attunement users that wronged it. Maybe the strange method in which you obtain attunements is the way it is because the developers thought it'd be cool. Regardless, to my knowledge, there's nothing that's been said by the developers or by the game which explicitly disproves this. If you've got any points or theories that disprove mine though, I'd be happy to hear them. To keep it to fuck, I just like talking about Deepwoken lore.

Despite that, I'd still say that some uses of the song are far more damaging than others based on what Arch said about blindseer. If song use had been kept to just resonances and maybe oaths I doubt things would be anywhere near as bad as they are now.

We still don't know a lot about that King, he could've been turned to a power seeker or he could've planned to do it from the start. From the way the Lightkeeper temple glyphs are worded, I assumed his goal was always to drown celtor. And Yun Shul is a drowned god, though the thing you talk to in Layer 1 is just a shrine, not like Yun Shul's body

i think the world has'nt drown yet because all the faction leader alongside other powerful people can easily beat the ministry thogether, also regent might want the forge for some reason so here is what i think
a drowning can be caused by using the power of a strong artifact or one entity
since the forge of sin is constantly fueled by duke erisia the forge becomes stronger and stronger
so there will be a point that the forge will be to strong so regent will go for it instead just sitting on his throne
also about the auth vs etrea
think that other possibilitie is that regent is sending people like the players to duke manor to make his understanding of the forge slow
because there will be a lot of adventurers to fight duke will be too busy to keep studying it
and when the etrea vs auth war starts people will be to busy with the war that ministry can easily go for the forge and make use of its power so after that they can drown the lumen
