- Found this girl in the process of laying an egg in the roof of their coop, this was one of the first eggs she ever laid, at this time she didn’t know that she was supposed to lay the eggs in one of the nests I made for them. before it fell to the ground and shatter, was able to catch it. I hatch it in an incubator and the baby peachick is doing well and is very healthy.
I can’t believe I am up in the middle of the night watching a Peahen lay an egg. What has my life come too 😭

I meant for this to be a joke about the perilous egg clip that was shown. I'm sure the peahens actually have very safe egg-laying practices 99% of the time. ☺️

Here in my Village they usually lay in bushes on the ground away from habitations . After the chicks turn 1-2 weeks then they start coming to Village for food .

A few years back, we had so many peacocks and peahens. We had to use our chickens as surrogate incubators because we had so many eggs. And then the wild turkeys showed up and things got weird.

You know what might help you so the eggs won't break is a ledge with egg shaped wood carved out, so when it rolls , it has a place to roll in to. It's hard to explain but that could help. Beautiful birds by the way.❤

I'd never made the connection to a peacock being the male version of a peahen until today. I thought they were all called peacocks, but it makes sense now that i know
in most animal species, it's the male that has to look pretty and woo the females, but humanity's fashion and makeup industries have flipped that for us

I grew up on a farm when I was a child & I miss having chickens, cows, horses etc... our food was so fresh but now we depend on our local grocery store & it doesnt even compare. I didn't realize how spoiled we were with our local farm & exchange....but I have lots of good memories...but I sure miss my parents & childhood❤
