And you should know that Floor doesn’t try to outshine anyone, she does what the song requires.
Not to mention, Anneke was Floor’s inspiration to want to sing with metal bands…
No pitchforks , no torches. All 3 ladies are amazing, as are all the musicians.
Anneke (in the middle) is one of the OG Dutch female rock/metal singers. You've seen her with The Gathering. Marcela Bovio is from Monterrey Mexico, same hometown as The Warning. You have seen her with Stream of Passion and with MaYan (EPICA founder Mark Jansen's other band).
The thing I always find mind-blowing about this song is that if you had never seen any of these ladies before you would NEVER guess that they were basically all metal / rock singers . It's a tribute to both their talent and versatility that they can come together with mutual respect and perform a song as beautiful as this .
BTW - it's nice to know that Floor seems to live rent free in your head 🤣 but is disappointing that you didn't recognise Anneke van Geirsbergen and Marcello Bovio who I think you've reacted to both before ( perhaps if you didn't have a Floor obsession you might have ! 🤣😉 )

Agree with you Marcela, Anekke are great singers as Floor, and there are more singers (Simone Simmons, Dianne Van Giersbiergen, Sharon den Adel,Laura Macri, etc, etc,)

Your Honesty is for sure something we viewers come see your videos, it`s not necessary to like something to appreciate if it has quality in it, Queen Floor makes everything and everyone better, lol , we nightwish fans are sure of that, kidding, other two singers are great on their own and blend in this song perfectly, keep rocking and stay safe!
I like this version but first heard it in Star One live 2003 with Floor and her sister Irene singing it.
As said in an earlier comment. Anneke van Giersbergen did indeed inspired Floor to sing metal. And all singers are good and sounds very good together
omg, david, hard to imagine you have not heard and seen these vocals before. Glad it is now part of your aural catalogue. Marcela, as backing vocalist and lead vocalist (Streams of Passions) is often overlooked, she is a power on herself.
With Floor singing the second lead and the grand lady Macela Bovio singing the backig vocals this was already a great song. But Anneke von Giersbergen's voice goes in my ear and makes a little home in my brain.
I guess the thing with that is, it's song 9 of a 16-track concept album. So it fits right in the middle of the story, and probably hits better as part of the whole album. Still, I like it as a standalone, too.
Well, you're being honest and did review it for the composition and execution. And Marcella and Anneke did a great of a job. It's just not your style. You like it heavier. No worries. I still liked your reaction.
ok thems fightin words, bring out the pitch forks, torches, and the burning oil. just kidding yes most of us think whatever Floor touches turns to gold, but the thing with Floor is that she doesn't try to outshine anyone she works with, she molds herself to fit what the song needs and the artist she is working with, and although we hold Floor at such a high level most of us acknowledge that there are other very great singers out there. the other two here Marcela Bovio, and Anneke Van Giersbergen. and Arjen Lucassen only uses who he thinks are the best singers for his pieces.
I respect that you can find or see the talent and artistry in a piece of music even if you don't necessarily like the music itself. I generally really like this song, but at the same time it's not like it' on any playlist or anything. I usually like my music much harder myself, but as I've gotten older I can see talent in more places myself even if I don't really like what I hear.

Ayreon specifically chooses voices to blend together. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell them apart just listening. Parts of The Human Equation highlight this nicely.
Also, at some point it’ll be worth your time to listen to a full Ayreon album through. Lots of the songs make more sense in context. ~Queenie

This is from Electric Castle, Its Anekka's song, (the Goddess in the middle), worth listening to, Marcela voice is beautiful, but needs to be heard as part of the complete Electric Castle to get it.
This song is (a small) part of a concept album called "Into the Electric Castle". And in the spot it takes, it fits well. (Almost a necessity.) I can really recomend listening to "Into the Electric Castle" end-to-end. It's a long sitting, as expected from Ayreon. But it's worth it. And don't be afraid it's going to be like this small part. It has a lot more to offer. It's way too long for a response, though.
When I saw the title I instantly thought uh-oh, this not going to go well. It amazes me that you can separate your personal preference so clearly from score-setting, good job! And yeah, you understand rabid Floor fanboys/girls for sure...

Ayreon as a project has a bit of everything, from prog metal to folky ballads like this one. It's a short song because it fills a part of the story in the album it's in (most Ayreon albums are like rock operas)
I guess it's not for everyone but the quality is hard to argue with.
As usual, you were able to separate your personal taste from the objective review, props for that 👏

Fightin' words! 😆Kidding aside, everything made sense. The studio version of the song only has Anneke (the middle singer), which fits for the story/concept, but having the trio definitely adds to a live show.

Unfortunate that there are some fans that are jerks, but I feel that is the case with any big band.
All three singers were great, yeah, and you've reacted to all of them, although Anneke, the singer in the middle, (from The Gathering) changes her style like every few months, so she might not be recognizable.

I had a feeling this wouldn't be your thing. It is of course part of the story. Arjen writes metal operettas.

I don't have to listen to David (but I want to). I can disagree with him (and sometimes I do that) but I know that guy know what his talking about. I'm also not a big fun of this song but I appreciate the level of artism of this piece. BTW I'm crazy Nightwish fan😁😉
I love these gorgeous, awesome singing ladies in rock and metal, but most of the time i cant stand this kind of ballads without any trace of heaviness, on the other hand im a sucker for real metal ballads ( no acoustic).
For Ayreon i would suggest either Age of Shadows, This Human Equation (not to be confused with The Human Equation), and Daniel's Descend to Trasitus.
I'm a fan of Arjen but I think Transitus is among his worst, I would suggest something else, The Source has great stuff on it for example

I am kinda glad that this is a very short song ) Because otherwise David would be bored as hell )... I also would suggest D to create a new addition to his rating system The one that he has now - is what could be called Objective Score. But suggest he invents + Subjective Score ) Something like - ok, this Song Objectively deserves 8+ objective rating. But my own personal emotional impression is on 3- ))).. Just kidding. But... Wouldn`t it more entertaining? I am sure it would )
8.4 isn't a bad score for a style of song that you are not a fan of.
Nope, it's a great score for what I consider to be a great song.
