My local half price book store once had a whole shelf of Japanese cosplay phto books and they were from the 2000's so during a time where cosplayers made do w/what was available but man oh man! They were so cute! I immense regret not getting one cause they were all gone by the time I went back 😫
Omg yes! I love looking through old cosplaying books for that reason! they are such a time capsule of what series were popular or how people made cosplay when ready-made costume sites weren't available yet! hopefully you come across more because they are such a fun thing to look through! I only have one but i would love to get more in the future!

The rarest amiibos to my knowledge are the golden Squid and Octopus amiibos from Splatoon. They were made as an award for a Splatoon 2 tournament in Japan, and only one of each were made!
This is so cool! That store has so much 😱 Also the “Box boy” amiibo is the rarest and most expensive that was available for retail and it was exclusive to Japan ! There are also prototype amiibo that have made it out into the wild that are rare and expensive. I have a friend that has a donkey Kong and a couple of other prototypes that are all beige cause they where never painted lol

This is very surreal. Me and my boyfriend visit this exact Book Off and Mitsuwa every other weekend or so. I didn't expect to see this when I clicked on the video. I love visiting these locations so much! I also feel severely embarassed when I sit in that knick knack area in the front of the store... I also usually visit Tokyo Central and Main across the way! Marukai is a cool stop too. (mostly for snacks)

I can relate, there have been a lot of times when I have felt shame for being so interested in toys and things from my childhood but these things truly do make me happy, I never want to feel shame for something that brings me happiness! The rarest amiibo are some gold, silver, and red monster hunter amiibo that were from a raffle, gold splatoon amiibo as a competition prize, and the rarest retail amiibo is Boxboy

To answer your question about the rarest amiibom as far as I'm aware, the rarest ones are the Boxboy amiibo, a dark souls one (yea I didn't even know that existed either) and the limited edition gold megaman amiibo

We have 3 book offs here and all 3 are next to asian markets as well after spending way too much at book off you can either go to Tokyo central H mart or Mitsuwa and spend even more money and the mitsuwa here is connected to a mini mall so even more stores you got to worry about

yes! I loved how nice her face sculpt was! that's why I was so shocked that she was so cheap! I did some research after and apparently, Good Smile has re-launched that figure and made a lot more of her so that could explain the lower price, mine specifically was missing one of the weapons in her hand too, so that explains the price as well but she's still so pretty!
That Squid Girl towel brought back memories I forgot I had.

I didn't know LA had a place like this. I live about 2 hours away, and I don't really get to go to LA very often. Book Off seems amazing, especially having older magazines and those freaking EXPENSIVE Pokemon figures I really want. I've been wanting to collect a bunch of the magazines with Evangelion covers like Newtype for my collection, and this seems like the PERFECT place to look. I mean, I really just collect anything Eva I can get my hands on, but the point still stands, this place is perfect for adding stuff to my collection.
Also that Squid Girl towel looks awesome. As for Amiibo, I think the rarest one might be the golden Squid and Octopus Amiibo given out as trophies to the winners of a 2019 Splatoon 2 tournament. Pretty much every other Amiibo like the cards, gold editions, etc., could just be purchased by your average consumer, but these were ONLY given out as prizes to the best of the best at a tourney. I'd bet money on those being the rarest Amiibo out there.
The consumer in me is dying rn at how little gets imported to Australia in comparison to places in Europe and America, i would go rabid if we had one of these

As I am unfortunately something of an amiibo collector myself I can somewhat answer your question as to what's the rarest tldr it's box boy box boy was released only in Japan alongside a compilation of his two games had a low print run last I checked he goes for triple digits
