Yes, the least reacted to video maybe, because of its length, but so lovely. I never can stop after part one or two. 16 minutes always well spent. No other video shows the bandwidth of skills like this. Exceptional.
Bless-ed Be (you'll hear the pronunciation in the chorus), Rule of Nines, and Holy Roller get all the love, but I see no one has mentioned Belcarra or Bleach Bath. Bleach Bath is filmed from the perspective of 3 of Ted Bundy's victims, so you might dig that, and Belcarra is just flat out awesome with a very strange guitar technique that is zoomed upon. Mike actually bends the string above the bridge and it makes a very cool sound in relation to the song's flow, and I recommend that one a whole lot. Enjoy! :)
those songs were awesome, i'm on my spiritbox journey too, ever since i seen the video for Blessed Be, this journey is just as good as the Jinjer journey thanks again for the recommends
@@Crofil Jinjer is one of my favorite bands right now. They literally don't have a bad song, and I've got all their albums and have listened to them all multiple times. I'm just as enamored with them as I am Spiritbox, and I honestly hope they can get their well awaited first album finally recorded that the pandemic has forced shut down for months now. I can't wait to see what they do on a full album instead of singles and an EP.
I'm glad you checked out Spiritbox! Awesome band. I hope you check out more! Fun fact about this music video: the band made it themselves with a DIY budget during lockdown. They borrowed cameras, got props from a friend's recent wedding, the bass player's wife was the make-up artist, and more. This song is definitely top 3 heaviest songs from them. You can expect a lot of different sounds from Spiritbox, from heavy breakdowns to soft, ambient tones and amazing clean vocals mixed with brutal heavy vocals. I could seriously sit here and recommend their entire discography (they only have a self-titled EP + a handful of single releases) but I'd say their songs "Blessed Be" + "Rule of Nines" + "Belcarra" would be a good place to start next! If you want to hear what is in my opinion *a masterpiece* from Spiritbox, check out their live in-studio performance of their trilogy of songs called "The Mara Effect" at Silverside Sound! 3 songs + 1 interlude titled "10:16", ~16 minutes long. If you find the time for a lengthy reaction, I'd totally recommend it. You will enjoy the lyrics too! I won't tell you what it's about *just yet* though haha! I'm curious how you two would interpret it. 👍👍🤘🤘
Welcome to Spiritbox! So awesome that you enjoyed that song! Really liked your review and cool to see that you also checked out the lyrics and looked up some general information about the band. Courtney LaPlante and Mike Stringer, husband and wife duo, brang Spiritbox to life in 2016/2017 because they wanted to create their own project with which they are able to write any song they enjoy to do without having already established fans with a specific expectation. You will definitely hear that when listening to their other songs: their diversity is insane. Until now they always tried to do as much as they can by themselves with minimum costs possible. Just like that video for Holy Roller: it's DIY for the most part - also shot while (obviously) this whole lockdown situation going on. Such talented musicians. I really hope that you will continue the journey of checking out Spiritbox, I'm sure you won't regret :)

First Jinjer, now Spiritbox? And the mention of Midsommar (which is one of my favorite “horror” films; it’s so disturbing in unusual ways). Dubbed! Can’t wait to see more Jinjer and Spiritbox from you two!
A bit late to the party but I’ll say that if you go into midsommar expecting it to be related to the song you’ll probably be disappointed. It’s still a great film, one of my favourites of recent times but the inspiration/comparison people made to this video is purely in the visual side, and even then on the brighter side of this video. Loved the reaction, and if you haven’t seen the film yet I hope you enjoy 💕
I just recently got into this band, and have been hooked ever since. Two other great songs by them are “Blessed Be” and “Rule of Nines.” They have more clean vocals mixed with growls unlike this song.
Spiritbox are amazing! Courtney has an top vocal style. New album in the making 😁 Check out "rule if nines", "belcarra" , "bleach bath" & "the mara effect 1 2 & 3" 🤘
I hope you'll check out their song Blessed Be for a tonal opposite to this, and then maybe Belcarra or Rule of Nines for more of a mix of their styles. Rule of Nines has an amazing official video, but Courtney also uploaded a one take vocal performance of the song too. Her husband is also in the band, he plays guitars. I think I read that Holy Roller was meant as a super-heavy song to play at live shows, or maybe that it was written to see just how ridiculously heavy they could get.
I love that this was DIY and shot on a smartphone. I'm not sure the film and song are connected, I think they just were inspired by the aesthetic in the video. This is by far their heaviest song though. I would usually suggest starting with Blessed Be or Rule Of Nines one-take. Cheers. Ps the bats coming out of the light are cool.
This was the first music video where I got the creeps as well, something most horror movies don't manage to do. So I actually watched Midsommar today, after everyone was referencing it, and yes it is absolutely fitting (minus the demon), but god damn that movie is seriously disturbing. Fucking cults man, reading up on Jim Jones was quite the experience too. Love this song and video though, especially the drop at 4:16 when all hell breaks loose. Her looking so happy, even though she probably knows she is a sacrifice is what gets me more than her brilliant demon makeup. Their other stuff is definitely different to this one, this is brutally hard in comparison to their other songs.
Courtney stacks up with the rest of them, with lots of good natured personality as well :) More spiritbox please. From this quick harshness, try Rule of Nines (more balance), Blessed Be has some great cleans, then Belcarra!!!! She also does some great in studio performances, the most intense Courtney live would be "The Beauty Of Suffering".
Blessed Be by them is hands down the best music video I've ever seen and it shows a different side of them musically from this. The song and video are written based on the show Handmaids Tale. In for ALL the Spiritbox!
Belcarra, Bleach bath, Rule of Nines the list is long as really there isn't a bad song among any of their releases. Def horror inspired, self-made videos for the most part. Brilliant band.
Very good band, second to Jinjer in my opinion. This is their heaviest song. They definitely gave a "horror" vibe to most if their videos. You should check out their song "Blessed Be" next.
Courtney (as well as Mike and Bill) have been doing this for over a decade. Courtney started in Unicron and then joined Iwrestledabearonce before starting Spiritbox with her husband Mike. It’s kind of all over the place. This video has nothing to do with the song at all, but many of the songs are inspired by horror and/or serial killers. Bleach Bath is a good one. The song (and Courtney’s three looks in the video) are inspired by the victims of Ted Bundy. The Mara Effect (it’s a three parter) is inspired by one of Courtney’s friends and their experience with sleep paralysis, which is wild.
@@ArsenicAndEspressoPodcast so true. Lol. The Mara Effect live in studio is probably their best video. Shows pretty comprehensively what they can all do, and it has Mike’s only guitar solo (so far). They have a new song coming out in about a week, and it’s gonna blow a lot of people’s minds. All clean vocals.
Great song (as are all Spiritbox songs). Although the music video looks very inspired by Midsommar, according to Courtney on their Discord server, the lyrics are about Jim Jones, cults and religions (ie. normalised cults)
Really should check out her live one take vocal performances. She has Rules of Nine, this song and a few others. You'll enjoy them I think. Her voice is insane.
So I am new to the channel and I'm going down the rabbit hole of videos so be prepared for sporadic comments to old videos! I love Spiritbox and this song is one of my favorites. I prefer heavier songs and this is definitely more on their heavy side. That riff is so good. Belcarra is a good one.
I love Spiritbox, they're a really talented band. As everyone suggested, you should check out Blessed Be and Rules of Nines. Both those songs definitely have a different feel than this one. Blessed Be is definitely a slower, and clean vocal song compared to this one, but it's still amazing. You really get to hear how good of a clean vocalist Courtney is. Rule of Nines is a very good mix of both, and just a bad ass song. Also I think if you liked Hereditary than you should like Midsommer. I personally liked Midsommer better, but Hereditary made me so uncomfortable that I had a hard time truly liking it. Edit: since you are checking out women lead band then I suggest that you check out Sumo Cyco. They have a different sound, though I don't think they could be considered metal, they are really good. I saw them live as openers for Jinjer and they blew me away.
Other bands! Ha! Here’s a few... Try: INFECTED RAIN’... MORPHIDE’... and RAVDINA’!!! “IR” is releasing their 5th album soon... And the other two’s First albums are around the corner! Check them out!!
Well that was different! I do wonder how a vocalist with that style can get through a whole set without losing their voice. Just watching a few videos after seeing the Band-Maid reaction, and I'm going to suggest a band you won't have heard of, playing a genre you don't seem to cover*. They are The Let's Go's, a Tokyo all-female three-piece who play old style stripped back punk with energy, character, catchiness, and a rare sense of fun. If you see the first 3.5 minutes of this live show ruclips.net/video/HBB3m-lDmnI/видео.html you see enough to see how much they put into their shows. In true Ramones style, that 3.5 minutes is enough for two songs. * clearly I live in hope rather than expectation, but people so far seen genuinely pleasantly surprised
