i came here exactly for an MOA explanation in regards to a red dot and got exactly what i needed. i just went through 3 articles and this was the simplest yet most clear explanation of what an MOA is in a 1/10 of the time. great vid!
@@ThepDenNgoaiBien 1/10th is Mils. 1 mil radian = 1centimeter at 100 meters. MOA is in units of 4. Four clicks = 1 MOA. One MOA is 1.0472 inches at 100yards.
I'll probably forget it again since this is my 5th time in 2 years looking this up but for right now, you explained it perfectly and I know for now... Until the next time when I once again am here to acquire forgotten knowledge.
VERY HELPFUL!! I realize that there is much more that goes into MOA, and calculating long range shooting and whatnot. But for those of us that who recreationally shoot, and needed just the basics, and the ability to wrap our weary brains around the premise, this video is perfect to accomplish that goal, in 5min to boot!! Bravo sir, thank you!!
Excellent explanation...Bought a scope with 1/4 MOA at 100.yds..now I know that If I hit 1" away from the Center/target...I have to click 4 times....wow..wow..Thank you sir
This is the first video I came to without reading anything prior either. As many others in the comments id like to say thank you for a straightforward and informative video!
You said it right at the beginning. MOA is a term that gets thrown around. I been shooting 35 years and only really heard MOA thrown around heavy in the past year. Thanks for clearing it up for me, but to me it still doesn't matter. My rifle is either sighted or it ain't so I really don't worry about faddish technical terms.
OK, let's say your rifle is sighted in for 300 yards. The wind is blowing at about 10 mph from left to right. You have been told that much wind will displace the bullet about 9 inches at 300 yards. So, how many clicks of windage do you take on your scope, assuming the clicks have a 1/4 MOA value? If you do not understand how many clicks to take your only option is to hold off 9 inches. At any rate, the bottom-line is sights and scopes move in MOA and describe inches of movement at target distance. If you are zeroing for 100 yards and your first group is 4 inches high and 4 inches to the left, how many clicks, again 1/4 MOA value, do you need for elevation and windage. If you don't know you will shoot a lot of ammo guessing at how many clicks to take; but, understanding MOA you would know you need 16 clicks of elevation and 16 clicks of windage.
Faddesh technical terms? Tell me you can’t shoot long range without telling me. MOA isn’t a fad. It’s been a reticle style and movement for scopes for decades.
So… was he saying a 4 moa dot will physically cover a 4 inch portion of your target at 100m or that your round could strike within a 4 inch circumference at 100m?
Hilarious you're called Copper jacket TV. Cause that's what Cali prefers. Still love that you still upload even in such a place. Props to you instead of just kicking the bucket
Thanks for explaining that in layman's terms. I felt foolish asking anyone since I felt like I should've known what that meant. I'm sure from your video this is the simple and easiest way to describing moa. It way well understood the first time you went threw what it means, thanks.
You done a great job explaining that bro. Very easy to understand. I struggle with this and I just got my first long range weapon and my scope comes in today. This will help tremendously.
Couldn't have been any clearer or easier 2 understand 4 a newbie just getting in2 rifles(have shot iron sites 25+yrs,shotguns,handguns, 22 marlin. THANK U!
Always heard this term thrown around but never actually understood it. But also always wanted to know what it meant! Appreciate the simple explaination
1 MOA = 1 inch deviation off center at 100 yards 2 MOA = 2 inch deviation off center at 100 yards 3 MOA = 3 inch deviation off center at 100 yards etc.
Great job. Anyone putting your video down should just shut up and make there own. Lol You explained it in the most simplest way so newbees could understand it. Now that we do all the extra numbers can come into play now. Making a geometry math problem out of it makes it only that much harder to understand. Now that we grasp the principals of it, learning the rest is that much simpler. Again good job.
Thank you for explaining the moa on a red dot that had me very confused and I have not been able to find many videos that explain this so thank you sir
This is exactly what I was looking for. My cheap red dot I got said it has a 5 MOA dot so I’m just wondering what it is. So what I am gathering is that if my AR shoots 2.5-3 MOA and my dot is 5 MOA and sighted for 100 yards, those shots are going to be inside of the dot itself. That’s actually really helpful.
This was a very good explanation. I'm looking for 2 MOA red dots for my two AR-15's. After eye correction surgery in September, I can no longer see the iron sights with my right eye, and I'm a right handed shooter! That sucked. If anyone has a 2 MOA red dot suggestion, brand and model, please let me know. My uses are primarily home defense, and hitting something at 100 yards outside.
Thanks so simple put, 4 clicks up on my moa scope means 1 inch. Because my scope has 1/4 clicks. I went to other sites and they talk about so much other information that you simply get board and your telling them pro's to shut up and simplify it. Thanks for this video, not all of use people are compitetion shooters

Same here... im in the market for a red dot and i needed to know
now what??? more confusing ?? 1 MOA = 1 Minute of Angle by definition?? right?? now you say 1MOA = 1/10 of what?? Sorry too confuse??
@@ThepDenNgoaiBien 1/10th is Mils. 1 mil radian = 1centimeter at 100 meters. MOA is in units of 4. Four clicks = 1 MOA. One MOA is 1.0472 inches at 100yards.
@@ThepDenNgoaiBien They meant this took a lot less time and was more clear than the multiple articles they read.
9 years later...still a great video! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

1” at 100 yards. Simple and concise. Thanks. That definitely helps. Hopefully I can remember it 😊
Just came across this. While I am a long time shooter and familiar with MOA this is a fantastic practical explanation. Well done.
That's a nice quality of the author's mind, that he could brake down a complicated theory, to the extremely simple explanation!

Was always embarrassed to ask but you explained perfectly
1 MOA = 1 inch deviation off center at 100 yards
2 MOA = 2 inch deviation off center at 100 yards
3 MOA = 3 inch deviation off center at 100 yards
etc.
Better learn what an MOA is before California bans is
levi cruz please do not give CA any more ideas lol
“MOA is a rate increasing device! Time to add it to the NFA list!” 😂
I heard that Mattis killed someone once with an azimuth and now California is looking to ban ALL azimuths - both automatic, and fully semi-automatic.
😂😂😂
won't they convert MOA to the possibility of cancer in pregnant women?lol
Great vid man! Haven't found a better explanation of MOA than this.
