SMS product is an Australian Product, the owner is Scott and is a great bloke. It’s good to see recognition on this site. Cheers Ocean from Australia 🇦🇺
I really appreciate the explanation in the beginning, I appreciate the close up shot of the P.E parts at the bench & then at the end. - id work on camera work a bit more. Perhaps multiple angles when filming when possible. Can easily be achieved with some cheap phone purchases. (720p or 1080p phones are relatively cheap these days online, good deals to be had on ebay & the like) That, and the music is a good choice, but the camera doesn't back it up. If that makes any sense. I'd try and do more jump cut edits to sync with the music for more B-Roll shots and the like. - Thanks again for the explanation! I'll definitely be picking some of from SMS. The RX build looks great too!
It was hard to tell from the video, but did your process clog up the extra detail in the PE part? I see some grooved sections while it's still on the sprue and it's hard to tell if the air brushing got rid of those small differences in the metal. Also, do you recommend applying the PE parts after painting the model? I'm considering putting the PE parts with metal primer on the bare plastic first and then airbrushing afterward. Curious of your thoughts here.
Would you use the etch primer for a Gunpla that you're not going to custom paint, only apply photo etch and water slides to finish off with a clear top coat?
Most of the SMS paints and primers don't need thinning. They do a range of paints which are in smaller bottes and are more suited to hand painting (although they can be a bit hot and melt other paint). These paints do need thinning for airbushing, but the Premium Lacquer range do not. I haven't used the etching primer, but I suspect it would probably be thinned with the SMS thinners, which are a toluene/acetone mix with a small amount of something else. It's highly unlikely that you would ever need to thin it. I've never had to thin any of the premium range.
I'm pretty sure SMS paints are available in the US. There are several US RUclips channels that use it. Some of them used to get it direct from SMS, but I think it s now available in the US (Edit: Just checked the SMS website and it is available in the US. USA Gundam Store has it, as do several other places). I've been using SMS for a little over a year and I now use it almost exclusively. It is fantastic paint. The finish is superb and light colours will go over dark primers or other colours with only a few light coats. The high gloss clear is amazing. I use it on my car models and I don't have to wet sand them as it comes out so smooth and shiny.
@@davidorr6627 I finally got tired of messing with createx wicked line of paint and wanted something straight out the bottle. Their metal Etch primer was the most durable & easy to spray so I tried their paint line and I'm much happier now!! Tks for the info.
SMS paints dry extremely quickly. I've been spraying it and got fluff stuck to the paint and I can wait a few seconds then brush the fluff off and carry on.
I have to say you have a great vocal timbre and inflection. Your voice is really easy to listen.
Nicely done Very clear on all the different steps. Thanks for sharing.
Dude you should post more videos. This is great content and you have a voice like a professional radio announcer.
Great video Geo! Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate how to use Etch Primer
The pleasure is all mine. More people need to know. And I really hope to see your brand grow internationally.
Very helpful, thanks. That Trainer Yellow looks nice. Definitely will take a look at SMS.

I'm so glad it helped. Trust me it's a game changer!!!
@@Geo_Builds absolutely!
Did you thin the SMS primer as the bottle seems to suggest? Although the bottle is silent as to what one should thin it with.

We need to get SMS into the states!

How long to wait in between etch primer and std primer?
I waited about 15 minutes in between coats and didn't run into any issues.

Thanks Joel. Always trying to improve over here.
