- This a a simple time lapse (not instructional) of a Headlight Restoration I completed today. The protective coating on my headlights had become hazed, flaky and yellowed. This lowered the light output of the headlights and really made the car look like crap.
I used 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 grit wet sandpaper.
I followed the sandpaper up with 2 passes of Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish
I then used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish
After the Polish, I applied a thin coat of Meguiar's NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 Paste
Since I have removed the protective UV coating on the lens I will be covering the headlights with Lamin-x 20 Mil Clear Headlight Film.
it looks really good, but as far as i know, car (paint) wax if used on clear plastics will eventually turn them yellowish, thats designed for paint not clear plastics, not sure about the NXT wax but check it out.
its called plastic x , so obviously its for plastic. it is made for clearing up headlights, it s not wax , great job dude
I did almost the same. I used 3M headlight restoration Kit and once done I used Meguiar's PlastX. Both from my local auto store.
Let us know how it came out. We have a cool process you may want to checkk out too. Great video!
cant wait to have chance and do it on my 02 ep3 >;-)
mine did not turn out nearly as good...what gives
