  • This a a simple time lapse (not instructional) of a Headlight Restoration I completed today. The protective coating on my headlights had become hazed, flaky and yellowed. This lowered the light output of the headlights and really made the car look like crap.
    I used 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 grit wet sandpaper.
I followed the sandpaper up with 2 passes of Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish
I then used Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish
After the Polish, I applied a thin coat of Meguiar's NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 Paste
Since I have removed the protective UV coating on the lens I will be covering the headlights with Lamin-x 20 Mil Clear Headlight Film.

it looks really good, but as far as i know, car (paint) wax if used on clear plastics will eventually turn them yellowish, thats designed for paint not clear plastics, not sure about the NXT wax but check it out.

I did almost the same. I used 3M headlight restoration Kit and once done I used Meguiar's PlastX. Both from my local auto store.
