Pole Fishing: The Gamka River

- Join us for a memorable pole fishing weekend on the Gamka River, just outside Calitzdorp in the Western Cape. We stayed at the aptly named Riverview Cottages for two nights (though next time will definitely be longer).
This trip marked my first experience with pole fishing, and boy was it a great time! Tony showed me the ropes on Friday, and by Saturday even Kerry was catching carp with ease. It was fascinating to experience the difference between using an elastic in pole fishing compared to a traditional reel, making the catches feel more controlled and gentle. Over the weekend, we caught around 50 carp, that were all released safely, making it a weekend to remember.
