  • Mounting a TV to a Steel stud is very safe and easy if you have the right drill bit and right anchors. Drilling through the metal stud would be the safest method.
    Many are asking about the kit. It’s sold under Condomounts or elephant anchor brand.
    Search amazon for Condomounts kit and you can find it.

    Process is here.
    Mounting a tv to a metal studs using heavy duty toggle bolts. The process is
    A. Find the stud. C.H Hanson recommended.
    B. Mark the line for where you think the studs are. Find two of the studs closest where you want to mount the TV.
    C. Place the wall mount on the wall and mark the holes the anchors go through along the line of the stud.
    D. Drill 1/2” holes
    E. Insert the elephant anchor through drywall & metal stud, zip anchor and break off plastic extension.
    F. Place the mount on the wall and secure with screw and washer.
    These Elephant anchor toggle bolts are great to use compare to the traditional wing anchors.
    The kits are available on Amazon. Just google Condomounts Kits.

    I was confused looking at these mounting kits but now it’s very clear to me including how they work. The clear plastic acting as the drywall is genius! Thanks for the video and I hope your channel grows and reaches out to a lot more people.

    Thanks for making this video. It was a good idea to use a sheet of plexiglass so we could see the studs. It really helped a lot.

    How much weight can it hold on steel studs?

    • @LeslievilleGeeks
      @LeslievilleGeeks  3 года назад +1

      What are you mounting and what Mount are you using.
      If you using fixed or tilt tv mount you can mount upto 120lbs and use at least 4 anchors into metal studs. if you are using articulating mount. use 4 anchors into metal studs and can hold 60-70lbs.

    I have one tv in living room fixed to steel studs. But in the bedroom opposite of the living room, im putting in a tv, only one steel stud will be common to both sets. Will that stud be able to handle it?

    • @LeslievilleGeeks
      @LeslievilleGeeks  2 месяца назад

      Yes. Try to avoid swivel mount, Just the one with tilt or fixed function is. going to be safer.

      @LeslievilleGeeks after I mounted it my wife didn't think it was centered to the room. So I plastered over the big holes that I made. Found the center of the room and lo and behold, wood studs instead of metal. So I'm happy, the big set in the front and the set in the bedroom on totally different studs.

    Will these hold a 50’ inch tv that’s on a full movement wall mount?

      If you find a mount that can attaché to two vertical metal studs and your tv is below 65lbs it should be ok.

    how to you avoid from drilling into the edge of the stud?

    • @LeslievilleGeeks
      @LeslievilleGeeks  2 года назад +1

      1. Scan stud multiple times and find stud edge.
      Using the stud finder mark out the left and right edge of the stud. Run the stud finder a couple of times over the stud and mark the edges. The width of the stud should be 1.5”.
      2. Find existing drywall screw
      If you are using the magnetic stud finder then try to find where the pull is the strongest, and that is where a existing screw holding the drywall is. Usually that screw should be very centre of the stud.

    I drilled a hole through the drywall and the metal stud using a half-inch drill bit. unfortunately two of my four holes (both holes are on the same side), the metal was stubborn and the bit made a mess of the surrounding drywall so that it isn't really a round hole. consequently, i can't really fit the toggle snugly enough for it to stay in place. any suggestions on how i can reinforce this hole? shall i just use putty/spackle and let it dry/harden?

    • @LeslievilleGeeks
      @LeslievilleGeeks  2 года назад

      That’s ok. Just assure the toggle is vertically in place against the metal. Once you place your tv mount and screw in the machine screw it will tighten up against the wall.
