These tracks surfacing from the Blues Jays tour are a literal dream come true. This is Hayward / Lodge golden age, the live music I knew that must have been out there that brought the record to life. Amazing!!!!!

I was in Peaches Records in Atlanta in 1975. When You Wake Up was playing through their excellent sound system. I hadn't yet owned a copy of Blue Jays, but hearing it then led me to buy it.

Loved the different ending from the album. When Graeme retired I was hoping Justin and John would do a Blue Jays tour but alas they both went separate solo ways. Hope the astronauts take this song to Mars! 🥰🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

Featuring Mel Galley (guitar) and Dave Holland (drums), of Trapeze fame at the time. You forgot to add this one to the playlist Charlie. Thanks for the upload!

WOW!! What a incredible live rendition of "When You Wake Up"!! What a dream team this band : Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mel Galley (guitars), Dave Holland (drums), Jim Cockey (strings), Tim Tompkins (strings), Tom Tompkins (strings)!! And, hearing how good Justin and John could be as live musicians playing and singing in this 1975 tour, I keep wondering: Why the Core 7 Moodies - even considering their last tour before the hiatus (beggining at february 1974) - never got this sound quality as a live band!! Sorry, Graham, but a band is as good as their drummer, and Edge never was steady enough to keep the musical flow of the band with the togetherness we can attest here (indeed he was incredibly messy almost all the time!). And another reason to this live performance be so good is that , finally, Justin and John got some additional musicians to complement their luxuous arrangements! I keep dreaming how better and bigger the Moodies (with Mike Pinder and maybe 2 additional musicians) could be to the world in a hypothetical 1976 Come Back Tour , having finally turned into a brilliant live band as this one..

Interesting listen, but the studio album is unbeatable. Almost as good as a Moodies album. Tony Clarke did some great work there, as usual. The 6th Moody.

The studio disc doesn’t have the ecstasy of guitar licks, string leads, drum solo and brilliant bass riff at the end, like this live version.

I found out it's Mel Galley from Trapeze and Whitesnake. Dave Holland is the drummer also from Trapeze, later wit Judas Priest.

The studio album is lame compared to the live versions on You Tube. Too much strings on the studio album making the songs sound mushy.
