    There's an easier way to do this:
    Create a table with your data - highlight the data and click Insert Table. Excel with automatically name your table, you can rename it in Table tab. Then, when you create the pivot table, put the Table name that you have chosen as the source data. It will refresh with whatever new data you put in.

    This is great, thanks so much! I have an application where I gather data inputted by a bunch of people. I can extract that data and put it into excel. Is there a way to have pivot tables automatically ignore uncompleted rows?

    This disables the undo function. Do you have a work around to bring back the undo function?

    Veru smart, but somehow in my Excel the refresh function is not working, please advise

      @spreadsheet_power  4 месяца назад

      It may be because of not saving the file as macro enabled.
      Since it uses vba code, you have to save the file as Macro Enabled. For this click on File/Save As/ choose file type "macro enabled workbook"

    Well I am using data from excel table, but somehow the pivot didn’t refresh with alt+f5, but the new row data must be picked from the filter on the row field…😢 (my excel is 2013)…

    Too much hassle and bassle for such a simple thing. Absolutely not useful. What if I have 10 Pivots?
    Just switch to Google Sheets and that's it.
    Aslo, auto-refresh for new columns has no sense as it is a data structure change - just update the Pivot source in this case.
    For new rows it does make sense.
    Just set the Pivot range to A1:D and filter Pivot table by B "is not blank".
    Funny enaugh powerful Excel has none of these 3 features: no auto-refresh, no A:D range, no filter "is not blank".
    Just switch to Google Sheet. It has it all :)

      Actually, he is one of the few RUclipsrs, who explain what probably 80% of beginners want to know how to. Not change the value in a cell in our source data and therefore change the pivot table, but add a new line or a column to the source data and the pivot table to change automatically.
