It's true that this song was made famous by the Allman Brothers Band, but it was written and originally recorded by Blind Willie McTell in 1928, with a more modern arrangement recorded by Taj Mahal in 1967. Taj Mahal's version came before the ABB version and influenced their version. The TTB version played here sounds to me like the Taj Mahal arrangement rather than the ABB arrangement (which makes sense considering who they have singing with them).
I’ll occasionally look for recordings of this performance, but I’ve never seen full blown footage. It’s a trip to believe I was actually there, there were so many heavy hitters there that weekend, but this stands out as a highlight. It’s the only 2014 Roo performance I still seek out, truly an amazing show, and I consider myself lucky to have been there in the flesh
