Wow! I thought I had seen every possible way to build a mallet! I guess I was Wrong. Beautiful work and I love the creativity in your design. You just earned another subscriber! I'm looking forward to checking out more of your videos.
That’s beautiful! I love any excuse to use a hand plane. I also wish that you would use a push stick, for your safety and those who might be learning from you on You Tube.
Lovely job & a different approach to a mallet. Wish you had weighed the beast & advised where such uniquely colored wood can be found or suggested an alternative. May I also suggest that the striking faces ideally should not be at right angles to the handle axis.
How long does the linseed oil keep the shine? I spray a clear gloss lacquer on mine and I like it but keep using can after can. I like the hammer, I've made a few out of maple and padauk too. Great stunning combination.
This was a very good idea ! I know the feeling when you're working some wood to get something very clean at end, i was a carpenter during a year when i was 16yo ! Oh and i hope you didn't hurt your thumb too much, it happens a lot to carpenters sadly..
Lovely!! Only improvement might be planing or scraping down the face dowels so the Padauk dust doesn't tint their lighter color. Padauk is just notorious for staining lighter woods when sanding. But a gorgeous hammer nonetheless!
Ya tell me about it. If it's not raining the sun and mosquitos bug me. I have a beautiful shop but can't do any woodworking in it because it's a water bottling shop for my water business. :(
I'm very impressed with the mallet you made. Do you have plans for this? I'm just getting back into wood working and would love to make one of these? Thanks, d.
David McCracken sorry did not make plans. If I make it later I will email it to you. I do have the plans for my guided knife sharpener. I you want them, send me an email and I will reply to you with the PDF.
Thank you! I appreciate the quick response! I re-watched your video again and I think I can figure it out. Thanks for the guided knife sharpener plans!
Yes your mallet is beautiful indeed 😍 but I cannot understand why you were using the hand Planer 2:09 ?? I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with using a hand planer but you have lots of top shelf makes of power tools in your video (a Dewalt Thicknesser / Planer,. a Dewalt Table Saw, a Milwaukee drill, a Dewalt Router, a Dewalt Mitre Saw.......so why the hand planer ?? and not some other Dewalt or Milwaukee power planer ?? I love your power tools though, keep up the great videos 😁👍 Glen 😁👍
Simple and not too complicated for beginner. Will give it a try with our local tropical woods.
Excellent rendition of the RD Furniture mallet construction with a bit more "flair" with light colored dowels on sides. Nicely done.
Excellent. Perfect job!
At first I was all WTF. Then I was all WTH. This is a great alternate to the usual mallet builds . Excellent work.
Thank you!

Really nice job, loved the use of dowels.
That’s beautiful! I love any excuse to use a hand plane.

That is simply beautiful. 👍
Creative design with the dowels. Thanks
But why the long extension cord? If you moved it all in the tractor, why not closer to the outlet? 0:21
But great job 👏
Gorgeous 👌💯😍
Would you share your measurements?
Thanks, really nice design and workmanship!

Thats bloody beautiful. Me personaly id stick that one in a display box.
Nice simple design. Very nice.
Looks great, but you really make me cringe the way you use some of those tools, starting with the router on the end of the handle.
What a beautiful mallet! Well done.
Very nice looking mallet, what are the dimensions on this?
That's beautiful

Thanks! Yeah, My thumb is recovering. It was bleeding quite a bit. Had to stop and put a bandaid. I'l be ok. Lol
Love the mobile shop grate work you made look simple
Beautiful...a mallet for many years!!
VERY NICE BUILT < CAN YOU SHARE THE PLANS AND DIMENSIONS
simply beautiful and beautifully simple. nice! but band-aid instead of duct tape? you may have to turn in your man card for a while :)
Lovely!!

Thanks for the compliment. Ya that Paduak dust really stains!
Good
Did the side dowels not drill threw your 3 internal dowels? Looks Awsome good job

Now take it in and give it to the wife because it to pretty to use in the shop she can use it to crack walnuts real nice
Hey, love your small tools, but unless you live in Hawaii, you need a shop and a big table saw. thank you for the video
Ya tell me about it. If it's not raining the sun and mosquitos bug me. I have a beautiful shop but can't do any woodworking in it because it's a water bottling shop for my water business. :(
Would you mind sharing the dimensions you used for this mallet?
Surprised you've got any fingers left! 🤣

Dowels are a great idea

Amazing.
Wow nice work
Thank you!
I want that hammer so friggin bad.
You used a router above your hand holding the piece. That was cringeworthy.
Is he sponsored by Dewalt or what?
Hammers in peg with a board. :)
Now make one without hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of power tools.
It’s super easy to make without any power tools. But why when you have them available?
@@joonyaboy I used to know the answer to your question but presently it escapes me; sorry.
True fact: Hes actually moving at normal speed and it just looks sped up

Dewalt advert
Actually, I'm not too crazy of Dewalt. I prefer Milwaukee.
Nice job, but you left the plane flat on the table. Put it on its side m8 :))
Thats bloody beautiful. Me personaly id stick that one in a display box.
