Beverage container return scheme: 10-cent deposit for bottled, canned drinks from April 2025

Bottled and canned drinks would cost consumers 10 cents more from April 2025, if Parliament passes a bill to increase their recycling rates and reduce waste. Under the proposed Beverage Container Return Scheme moved for a second reading today, consumers can redeem the extra charge once they return the empty can or bottle to designated points. Drinks in plastic bottles and metal cans under the scheme must display a deposit mark and barcode to help consumers identify containers eligible for refund. Drop-off points will be set up at around 400 supermarkets.

Put up a fiberfill manufacturing plant using these empty pet bottles as they do in china. These are used in making stuff toys and pillows fillings. Require all pet bottles to be in clear color as colored ones has no market value. Fiberfill has big export potential
