Mine sounds like typewriter noises coming from around the speedometer or steering wheel area. It happens when my engine is running. It makes noise regardless if my air conditioning is on or not.
I took my Toyota sienna in to get a complete inspection and everything is fine , mechanic took it for two test drives and no sound . I get in and engine is warm and the typewriter up front starts and stops up to 10 mph and the other night stuck not moving in traffic it was loud . It does not seem to be affected by rpm . So I will try the air system the next time this happens. I wonder if I can disable the air conditioning system by pulling a fuse without getting that stupid CEL to shine up at me . Nice to know others have this conundrum, just wish we did not.
@@brucewmclaughlin9072seems like my 2022 4Runner has this issue as well, coming from behind the steering wheel. Not loud, but enough noise tp irritate me while driving
@@user-mq1up2fw4r turns out i have a bad lifter as this only happens when the engine is at operating temperature and only between 900 -1100 rpm . Inside it sounds like it is behind the dash but one day it stayed on and I popped the hood took off the plastic shroud and there the noise was excessive. i have tried several known cures and several additives and I am now running 0w-20 oils but still there and still annoying. To fix it is about 8000.00 as you have to pull the engine , remove the front of the engine and remove the camshafts to get at any of the 24 lifters . On a van that is not worth more than 5000 on a good day the mechanic told me to live with it till it dies completely.
The noise in my car starts with just me turning the key to on! its a pretty loud clicking sound coming from the dash area. I dont even try to start the car I just have the key turned to on.
@@Superdudehatesmilk yes the unusual problem was a new relay. It wasnt a oem relay so it clicks for some reason. I'll replace it when I find the oem relay, which for my older car its hard to find one.
I have the knocking noise soon i turn my key before i even crank it. even when my ac is off. Think i still could be ac related? Or relay of fuse related?
So when I turn down my air conditioner the tapping sound came on again but when I turned on the heat it went off I haven't used my AC in like 5 or 6 months
How to fix clicking or knocking in dashboard.... "take it to a mechanic".... got it. This was pointless 🤣 anyone thats wants to pay a mechanic likely wont be looking up videos on how to fix it.

Did you find out what was the issue? Happening to my Suzuki Swift 1.3
Did you find the problem? Same thing in my Ford Escape.

@@Superdudehatesmilk I took my Susuzki on car service and they told me it's the AC problem, nothing to be concerned about.

This was dead helpful word

this video has 1000 dislikes
Theres another video of a guy telling how to fix it. just do a search for clicking noise around dash. He says its a actuator.
exactly mechanic smechainc this is no help whats so ever. i try to avoid them.
I’ll never understand how people can create such long-winded videos and still make a completely useless and informal video. It truly amazes me.
What a useless video. Include some sound examples, not just talk. Next thing he is going to say water is wet.
Mine starts before I even insert the key in the ignition
I have same issue!!! Did you get this fixed? What was it?
