Summer Sunsets - 61306 Mayflower on the Sunset Steam Express

Steam Dreams' summer evening Sunset Steam Express trips around the Surrey Hills returned this summer, on some Tuesday evenings and for a shorter season than in 2019. Tours ran an hour earlier than previously, presumably so that passengers had the benefit of being able to admire the countryside, rather than just the southwest London suburbs, in the daylight and if they were lucky, accompanied by a glorious sunset.
I filmed these at various locations along the route for as many trips as I could, including one trip on board. Put together in chronological order, the locations were: Byfleet & New Haw station, Chilworth station, Worplesdon Station, foot crossing at Albury Heath, Trip on board, Barnes Bridge station and finally on the bridge replacing the foot crossing on Gomshall Bank.

An enjoyable watch from all of the locations Hilary. Great timing for the station announcement at Worplesdon: 'No smoking or vaping on the station platforms' followed by a coal fired steam locomotive and an ancient diesel passing through. The irony of this moment made me smile.

Somebody's got a very 'photographic eye', catching all of the extra little peripheral things, like Canary Wharf and the A380 in London and the angles.

Thank you, Al. I appreciate your kind comments. The part that looks like Canary Wharf is actually the view from Grosvenor Railway Bridge, looking towards Vauxhall. Most of those red lights are cranes, building yet more high rise tower blocks in the Vauxhall/Nine Elms area. The London skyline is changing rapidly these days. I’m not sure it’s for the better, but it looks nice at night . 😊 Hilary

I really adire the Worplesdon filming with that illusion of a huge bank from the telephoto and an interesting king in the track over that overbridge. I love the B1s - bringing back memories of the GC.
