Lots of videos of our engine on You Tube but this is one of the more recent ones and is a very good one. Thank you from one of the volunteers who maintain and run the enguine
@@SparkoRC Hi there. We are very very impressed at Kempton Steam Museum by your video. We would be very happy to give you access to some of the places the public don't get close to when you next visit. If you drop me a message at kemptonadvertising@gmail.com I can make arrangements for you if you're interested? Regards, Stephen. KSM.
@@kemptonsteammuseum3122 Hi Stephen, Thank you for your comments its always appreciated and encouraging to try and produce even better videos next time, I will of course be pleased to accept your offer and hopefully this will further aid promoting your very worthy trust organisation and all the dedicated work you volunteers do behind the scenes to make all this possible, I will contact you with all my contact details and discuss when my next visit will be. Regards David. SparkoRC
@@kemptonsteammuseum3122 What does "Access to Places the Public don't get close to" mean? The Kempton Steam Museum is on my Bucket List for my next Visit to the UK (probably not before 2023 though), and I'd like to make a Video about your Steam Engine, explaining it in Detail. You can check out the "Marine Steam Engine in Action" and "Sulzer Tandem-Compound Steam Engine" Videos on my Channel for Reference.
Best to see the engine in steam live its truly amazing piece of engineering, hopefully when this pandemic is over everyone will be able to visit this wonderful museum, and see this magnificent engine in steam and up close, I was due to revisit again myself to shoot a new video last month of the engine in steam and the beautiful architecture of building , but unfortunately the museum had to close due to the pandemic of Covid 19, hopefully once the pandemic is over the museum will once again reopen for business, its truly worth a visit and waiting for in these trying times at the moment.
I remember the highest detail I could see this engine at was 720p. And now, few years later, I can see every dust speck on there! Thanks for filming this :)
Thankyou for making and sharing this terrific video. I saw these awesome machines in April 2019 but missed an operating day, so your video filled a disappointing void. From Australia.
I live in Florida, but I’ve always held a childlike fascination and wonderment of these kind of marvelous pieces of engineering. And if an EMP were to take out all of the power grid all around the world. The first thing I would do is to gather all of the historians I can who understand the machinery of the Industrial Revolution Era. And have the power grid of the surrounding areas back up and running until the power plants can somehow come back online. Steam engines will save the world if all technology was wiped out by an EMP.
Apology for not replying, firstly thank you for watching, and like you, I have always had that fascination and wonderment of the engineering pieces of the past, I hope to video that same engine again shortly.
Unfortunately, I've no knowledge of them restoring the other engine, when I go back to video some more of both engines I will ask them, I hope to go back shortly to video parts on the engine that the general public do not have access to, so will be excellent and unique footage, it was going to happen last year but the covid 19 pandemic stopped everything.
@@SparkoRC It is OK to have one pulled apart for display, but both running at once would be awesome. Might be an issue with boiler capacity though. Either way, it's a wonderful museum. I'm in the US, and too old to travel to the UK, so I'm enjoying all the great UK steam museums via YT. I know of several of the big VTE pumping engines gathering dust in the US, but don't think any run. The US never got into the big walking beam engines, but a lot of Corliss variations, quite a few running. Keep doing what you're doing, it's the next best thing to being there. Thanks!
I gleaned this information, The engines are very similar to the actual engines on board the Titanic albeit the Titanic's engines were 4 cylinders as opposed to three. Yet the Kempton engines are the same size (4 stories tall) and of the same type (triple expansion). Land-based pumping engines like Kempton Park's have flywheels.
Thank you for watching, it's always appreciated. It pumped water into London, very interesting history and facts can be found at these links below. kemptonsteam.org/history/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kempton_Park_Steam_Engines
It's fired by Natural Gas. The new Boiler is very small, because it has to power only one Engine running without Load (aka "Idle"), instead of two such Engines plus two equally powerful Turbines. I'm volunteering as Stoker on a small Steam Ship, and keeping such a small Boiler fueled isn't that big of a Deal. Just for Reference, these are the Boilers for a smaller Engine which is running under similar Conditions as the one at Kempton Park: ruclips.net/video/wTZtXs-HtT0/видео.html
Kempton Steam Museum, are open only on certain days, for details please check the link provided before visiting:- kemptonsteam.org/
It's amazing how quiet this thing is while running.
Yes they are fairly quiet running considering their size, it's a pleasant soothing sound.
There’s something very soothing about hearing and watching that engine run.
You are certainly right !

Thank you for your comments, I aim to revisit this coming year and hopefully get some even better footage with a new tripod and remote zoom control.

Nearly exactly same engine being used in RMS Titanic; really cool stuff.

@@SparkoRC I will definitely pay this a visit when I'm back in the UK.
There are some huge chunks of metal at the bottom of the Atlantic, such a huge tragedy for so many.
Only they decided to put two of those in there plus a set of parsons...
The size is just extrem and imagine Titanic having two of them....
Uh no. I’m pretty sure the titanic’s engines could rev higher
I remember the highest detail I could see this engine at was 720p. And now, few years later, I can see every dust speck on there! Thanks for filming this :)
Pleased you liked the video, it is always good to know that other enthusiasts appreciate the video, thank you.

Glad you enjoyed it!
I even sleep better hearing this Titanic heart I sleep like a baby!
Very soothing sound of these giants running.
Amazing this gear was not turned into 1500 Tercels! Good work!
Thanks for watching, glad it was of some interest to you.

All those exposed moving parts scare me. Have to be so careful. But those old industrial steam engines also fascinate me
Thanks for watching, yes there are lots of moving parts that quite scary, and I'm also fascinated with our old industrial past.
Isn‘t this the type of engine the Titanic used?
Similar indeed!
Impresionante la maquinaria
Yes it is very Impressive, thank yo.
Da dove proviene il vapore che attiva questo fantastico motore ? Non ho trovato nessuna indicazione in merito, grazie.
Great video! You got some welcome new angles on the engine and building.
Are they working on restoring the other engine to run?

I am very surprised at how small the turbine blades are. I expected them to be much larger.
this is the closest thing to titanic's engines we will get I suppose. it is taller though which is cool

Are there any online plans of these engines? I would like to make a working model.
Thanks for watching, sorry I have no idea, but I will ask around.
What does the massive engine do
Well what did it do is probably more accurate.

Me neither
They only run these now at 18rpm,to save them from damage, hopefully.
