I know I was supposed to be laughing, but this just had me in tears. The cycle of systemic racism and bigotry in general needs to be put to rest finally. It's time the confederacy (aka, the republicans since 1968) was held accountable for openly inciting hatred of all marginalized groups.
The person who is biologically responsible for my existence died from getting hit by a train (I guess he was to high to see it coming), but the man who stepped up to become my father is a hell of a guy.
What an ace storyteller! I love how he personified the light, “Get in there!” but even the light didn’t want to go in. Or how the Honda was about to cry 😂
Yo I am 35 and I have a 4 year old son. I love him with all my heart and I give him the world. Last couple years i have had a drug problem but never stole his stuff or took out his mouth. I have been free from that for 7 months now and watching this and how you still hurt from that I see how that shit is impactful. I never want my lil man to feel like that. It's crazy cause my dad just died weeks ago and I didnt really have a relationship with him due to crack so I feel it I. That way too. Even In my worst moments I would make myself due right by him cause he is all i got. This made me cry but i respect it, i needed that reminder this morning, ALL Love
sadly relatable. when he talked about the look in his dad's eyes I had to hold back tears. drugs can turn people into monsters and this routine, albeit hilarious, brought back some bad memories.

This series is genius! Comedians being funny and getting real vulnerable at the same time. This is amazing, Roy Wood Jr. Thank you for this story, Byron Bowers.
There's one with Joey Diaz where he talks about friendship where I teared up a couple times. Had me going from laughing to nearly crying and then laughing all over again. So good.

I've driven down Rocksprings plenty of times, just passing through, but I was glad to listen to Byron's tale. I've watched stand-up comedians on here every night for years, and I think Byron is, without a doubt, at the very pinnacle of the art. Thanks for sharing!

That was some real shit right there. As a father of 2 boys, I aint gonna lie. It made me look at myself and think about some of my own actions and decisions. Past and present....... God bless to all the solid ones! You know who you are....
Such a beautiful, dark and sensitive story with a hilarious punchline. Sad that the crowd is always so eager to laugh at every word. This is more about stories than comedy and usually these crowds don't get it.
I don't think it has to do with the crowd being eager to laugh, but more to do with waiting longer than expected for the tension to be released. Comedy is about creating and releasing tension. When the release doesn't happen for a long time, sometimes the audience wants to laugh to release their own tension they feel. It's where "nervous laughter" comes from.
I'll repeat what I wrote in my comment: "This is more about stories than comedy". That's the concept of this show. It's not a bit, it's a personal story. Of course, being comedians, it will always have some funny moments (and sometimes it's all about funny moments). But in general it's just some comedian telling a personal story. I'm just saying that the crowd should know that beforehand.
Maybe, maybe not. All depends on how they all arrived there. Some I imagine probably just dropped in without expectations. Some probably had a friend bring them there who said this was a "comedy show" so they had different expectation. Ya never know. People come to these sorts of things for all different reasons. But they all have one thing in common they are looking for, a show. They want entertainment. And they get it.
Andre Aguas so what you're saying is that this is therapy for comedians? And.....i mean...i paid for a comedian to NOT laugh? Instead just hear some shit life stories? Why would you even WANT to do that? How sad is your life that you need to hear someone else's shit life? I thought it was supposed to be funny and he just talked it in too much. There was this one dude, a few years back I think...yptalked about his time in prison. Now THAT shit was hilarious. He was telling his story, and he wasn't looking for some sympathy. So I'm guessing these comedians aren't looking for sympathy either. They just shit at making their life story funny
not saying it's therapy for comedians. What I'm saying is that the concept of this show his for them to tell personal stories. Some are more on the funny side, other are more on the "wtf" side of life. All comedians are good storytellers so it is interesting to hear their story, even if it doesn't make you cry with laughter. And, as you can see by the other comments around here, people also enjoy these "not that funny" stories. Anyway, you thought this was supposed to be a bit. But that's just not the concept of the show. ps: I remember that dude. Ali siddiq. That guy was amazing.

This is sad but I can't relate... I hate my dad. I'd rather avoid him and his anger then spend time with him. Since I think of being punished and getting beat when I see his face it's really impossible to not be pissed off around him.
Dude this story... it just reopened so many old wounds... because i've felt that moment of abandonment... and it messed me up all the way through middle school and highschool... god...
Reminds me of my dad, he wasn't a crackhead, he was just a drunk but definitely some similar behaviour though...

This was my favorite one! It was everything! It was beautifully written and delivered. It was open and honest. He seems to have developed so well that I'd almost say that he is a better man for it! As another comedian said. Well done! Great job! I am sharing this with many people
This was more of a lesson being taught to us than it was comedy, thanks for this
