Hey Scott. I'm an Aussie, and my dad was a Scot from Dundee. I married an Italian girl from Chieti, Abruzzi. We've been married for 56 years now. Just before the Covid-19 outbreak we spent two weeks in Scotland and two weeks in Italy. Checking out our roots you could say. Well, we fell in love with both countries. Both beautiful in their own unique ways. Unique scenery and unique people. But friendliness everywhere in both places. We're happy to be home again in Queensland, Australia's north eastern state. But our lives have been enriched by our trip to Scotland and Italy.
I live in Turin, you could have taken the bus that runs every 15 minutes straight to the city center 🙂 and yes usually in Italy the restaurant and pizzerias are open from 12 to 3 pm and from 7 pm till midnight 😅
I travelled often to Turin on business in the early 1990's. I felt your pain when it was so near but yet so far. You've inspired me to want to go back very soon to visit. I love your unpretentious vlogs Scott. RUclips is full of vloggers so far up their own backsides whinging about there only being 6 options to eat in the exec lounge or there only being two USB charging ports in their business class seat. Please keep it up.
I've enjoyed your travel videos Denmark to Italy then Edinburgh. Seemed a waste of time as you didn't see anything apart from Airport's. I loved the idea of the cheap flights and I was really excited to see what the places where like to give me ideas of where to go for short breaks, however I'm going to follow you to see your next adventure 😊
Hi Scott, I only stumbled across you a few nights ago and just love your videos!! So relaxed, and fun !! This episode was amazing (price-wise) and how fantastic going to Turin! I am a former Brit but now living in Canada, and it blows my mind seeing how low the fares are .. there’s nothing like that here of course, so I certainly miss that. All we have to do though is to get ourselves back over there to the UK and start taking advantage of those low flights. It’s been three years since we were back, so it’s time to get booking and packing, lol 😊
Scott you might consider getting a Priority Pass ( pass for airport lounges ) which would make the long layovers substantially more comfortable. Standard pass is £69 , and a fee for each lounge visit .
Great fares for the distance. Interesting travel too. If my legs hadn't failed me I would be doing a similar nap next to you - a situation I got used to in my 30yrs years of travelling around the Western world. Thanks for these videos
Had no idea that Ryanair flew to Billund - excellent information, so thanks Scott! I'm off to Funen (Fyn) island later this week and normally fly EDI - CPN and then onwards by train. Flying to Billund and then a shorter train/bus journey makes much more sense.
Great video.I love the way you can make what may appear humdrum so interesting! You just have that knack.Originally from Scotland myself I now live in Trieste.A genuine Italian pizza is a work of art!!
Really loved this video so apologies for long comment! Low cost connection time? I always go 5 hours minimum. Sounds excessive, but I’ve had times when it’s just enough! On your trip - sleep deprivation is torture eh!? And I hate it when airports don’t give a walking option to exit. I had a similar problem at PMI recently but just walked along roadside anyway :) fantastic video once again Scott, was looking forward to that one and it didn’t disappoint!
@@pkjlr77 2nd this call for a collab, imagine a nice length (45 min?) video of Scott & Steve travelling on a train/bus/plane, and just having some great chat about their many expeditions over the years!
Agree on the longer transit times are better. I’d rather arrive early and get a drink and a meal at a cafe than have to run, wonder if my luggage makes it and have heart palpations over it all and then sit on the next flight sweaty.
I'm not surprised you did this journey for £21, being a Scotsman . Looking forward to many more of these type of thrifty hops to strange places , joining the dots solely by cost criteria.
It's nuts to think that it costs about £3 more to travel from Edinburgh - Denmark - Turn - Edinburgh than it does to travel Paisley - Edinburgh - Paisley :|
Great video as usual! Bit late commenting but I'm working my way back through your vids. I was surprised at how busy Billund airport looked, at least from the planes you showed). Regarding low cost carrier connection times I would give myself four hours. It'd depend on how critical it was to be where I was going to of course.
I did Aarhus a couple weeks ago. £23 return from STN. Denmark is hideously expensive. Chicken nuggets and fries at Burger King £11.50. The bus from Aarhus airport to City Centre costs the same as the flight from London.
@@michaelkobylko2969 I know. In 2016, I did Copenhagen, Malmo, Stockholm, Oslo, and Gothenburg all in one week. Could not afford to stay in any one place because of the prices of everything. I can say I have been to these places though. Check them off the list. I am looking at flights into Artic Scandinavia next month. Maybe even Svalbard. Thankfully, Denmark, Norway and Sweden aren’t playing the Covid Nonsense game and so they get my business. France, Germany, Italy and Spain, can suck on their gimp masks, not going to any of them while they are playing that game.
Maybe something to do with it taking only slightly less to get between Aarhus and Aarhus airport than it takes to get between Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow city, and just go to a hotdog stand next time rather than an American chain.
I'm from Glasgow and love traveling too. Been watching a lot of your video content over the past week and really enjoying them..... going to feel sad when i'm all caught up! Thanks for all the good content. Me and my girlfriend do many similar journeys and our most recent was Edinburgh-Copenhagen-Malmo-Copenhagen-Ilulissat-Kangerlussuaq-Copenhagen-Edinburgh. Life is all about adventures and travelling and you've got it down to an art, awesome to see the places on you adventures. I have to say, Glasgow / Edinburgh to London on public transport would be epic to experience 👌😅
Hi Scott, loving your videos. I have done a few"silly" flights for very little cost. Recently was Aberdeen to London via Dublin. Looked today and there was a Stansted to Aberdeen via Aarhus and Gdansk for £23 but like you would have to spend a night at Aarhus. I will keep looking.
I was part of the dfds world record lego build a few years ago, all depots in europe contributed by everyone building a block out of lego pieces. All the blocks were used to build the biggest lego ferry. They brought it round all the depots after it was built on a trailer and displayed it at each for a week. If its not at the dfds headquarters in denmark anymore, it will be there at that legoland.
Well done - you kept your cool despite having travel plans and pizza plans scuppered! That was a bargain price for all the mileage, and an interesting challenge. You need another trip to get that pizza though.

Scott, are you planning on (or have already done so and I missed it) traveling the Ghan or the Indian Pacific in Australia?. I guess neither fit with the rest of your trip criteria, but just wondered.
A few years ago I flew into Billund airport on the same flight as Andy Bell of Erasure, it was memorable because as we approached the runway to land we suddenly shot up into the sky again, turns out the plane that landed before ours had hit some birds as it landed so they had to delay our landing a few minutes while they cleaned up the mess.
If I were transiting (which, as an Australian, I've only done twice domestically), I generally would allow a minimum of 2 hours (but that's if it's on the same ticket). I'd probably allow more if it was a Ryanair format of two separate tickets. In either case, as an aviation geek, the longer the better for me not just from a buffer point of view, but it also allows more time to plane spot.
Mi piace molto i tuoi video Scott, your videos are always a really good watch and find them fascinating, and I am also in to Travel & Tourism so these are just ideal for me, keep up the great work and I look forward to many more.
While here in Australia you're lucky to get a one way fare Melbourne to Sydney (the busiest route in the country) for close to what you paid for the round trip
Tip: if you're able to, try and get access to a departure lounge if available (by legit means, of course.) I've snoozed for a few hours at night in one of these and was able to use an airport shower. It was Dubai however.
Great video even if you missed out on Turin. Given how expensive things can be in Denmark I would not be surprised if the food and drink cost about the same as the rest of the trip. Great shot of Locarno. I can highly recommend staying there after taking the very scenic railway through the mountains from Italy.
I once took Ryanair to Bilund from Brussels South Charleroi, I went to that Neto supermarket and visited the place around Lego Theme Park, a few hours after I took the Ryanair flight to Gdansk. I like your videos. Carry on the good work!

Love the video Scott, even though we didn't see much of Turin apart from the airport. That pizza will have to wait for another time 🍕 Connection time with low cost airline 🤔 Not sure I would even consider it tbh, certainly no less than 6 hours like you did for this video.
Great achievement Scott. As for LCC flight connections I say it depends on the airport and time of year so m out never to aybe three hours or more. However I believe these LCCs will have to change the way their seats are marketed. A number of airline experts are saying that flying ought never to be sold so cheaply and as the current airport congestion has shown airlines need to pay airports higher fees to enable (airports) to provide better ground services.
