Perfect and well articulated. As someone who only knew about generating contours using drone images, I have now learnt even much more from this. You have made my day and trimmed the long process of doing things thanks alot.
Just so everyone is clear on this, you are NOT extracting the elevation data from Google Earth. The page in this vid uses the location of the points in the path and extracts the elevation data from a DEM model (most likely SRTM-3, though it depends on the location of your study). It says so in the paragraph just bellow where you upload the .kml file. I also tried this method, seeing that, for my area of study at least, the Google Earth topography model was more precise than the ALOS PALSAR data I have available (30x30 m RES, while in GE it seems to be 5x5 m or more from what I have measured). This means that: 1) Unless Google Earth uses a DEM with the same resolution as the one from where the web page extracts the elevation data, you won't be getting the same accuracy. 2)It's better to download the DEM from the source. (The best being the Alaska Satellite facility, mission ALOS-PALSAR and data processing level set to Terrain Corrected). 3)In some locations, Google has access to elevation data that isn't publicly available (like in my case), which allow them to generate super accurate/High RES terrain topography.
It is really good tutorial, but I think it should be mentioned that the extracted values of height are not really from google earth but from other sources listed by GPS visualizer site
Kriging may not be entirely ideal tool for the process, unless you want some areas extrapolated. You can simply use the density, spline, or (Thiessen polygon - Tin- slope - raster) for interpolation since contour productions works in such manner
Thank you very much for your patience in teaching and making your training very easy to follow. Please can we do the same in QGIS because I do not have Spatial analyst and all other extension tools in my version of ArcMap.
Thank you the gourgeus tutorial and i need to know we can make these contour's section to produce a profile and save it in DWG Files that mean it can be used in CAD soft . thanks for your help .
How we add a 'lattice grid structure' to google earth as *.kml/*.kmz format? I mean If we create grid points that have equal distances both in -x and -y planes and import it to G. Earth, it can be easier and had higher resolution. I wonder do you know is there any toolbox or any method in ArcGIS to create a grid structure with equal intervals between the points in -xy plane?
How does GPS visualiser work? I'm using QGIS which will accept KML files so why is it necessary to convert it to a text file? Is it that QGIS can't read the elevations values in the KML or does GPS visualiser add elevation data and then convert it to a text file?
Hmm. 🤔 But if i wanna make a trekking map, with maybe the satilite image in the background so i can visualise the lakes ponds etc etc. How do you do that? 😐
Cool, Thanks for the video. What if we need temporal elevation change of same area like current elevation vs 2015 elevation ? because in my study area dam and water ways are under construction and want to measure total excavation Area ?
This is so random. Not only i was shocked that you chose Malaysia, but you also zoom into my hometown. Thanks!
One of the best GIS tutorial I have ever watched. Many thanks!

thank you so much! it's too help for extracting elevation-from East Timor
Suuuper............. Thank you Sir
Wow. Learning more with your tutorials.

great tutorial btw keep up the good work!!!
Thanks
Thanks.very very usfull lesson .
Hi! I'm using QGIS instead of ArcGIS. I also need to extract the contours for every 1 meter. Do you have another tutorial using QGIS instead? thanks!
Thank you so much
Thank you.
Great stuff. Thank you.
great video. i am grateful
You do an outstanding job of explaining!!
Thanks :)
Thank you so much for the videos, help a lot, so sad I only have the basic license, I am getting stuck with the kriging...
Amazing! Great Work
Awesome but can you perform a similar manipulation in QGIS?
Thank you very much this is very helpful
You are welcome :)
Very nice. Very well explained 👍
very helpful video for my research work .thanking you
Mximum useful for Arcgis Learner
very nice videos, learned a lot
That's amazing. I like making my own maps for hiking. 👍

Please make video on zonal statistics.. I only understand you and no one else
superb thanks
fantastic 🌹❤️🌹
thank you so much
thanks for sharing tutorial.
Great channel. Thank you !
Thank you for sharing this...its so helpful and amazing thank you so much
Hello. Great video. Ive watched your QGIS video and i was wondering if we can extract elevation data and use it in QGIS? Thanks!
I use SRTM plugin in QGIS, quality is basically the same but far more convenient to use
Thank you so much...and what if the cell size when working with UTM.
Can I make a grid of points, say, in QGIS, then import it to Google Earth and export it with the elevation data?
Highly helpful 👌
You are welcome
How about depth data? Will it still work?
Great job, man!!!
please please.... make a video on Extracting Elevation Data using QGIS Thank you :)
this is so cool ahhhhh thank you king
You are welcome
how to do the same with the seabed?
I do it but mine does not contain elevation values at all
mine also
Great video. Thank you 🙏🏽
How can we convert gpx file to shp in qgis 3?
Great!!! Thanks.
Thank you sir
I'd like to export 3D polylines from Google Earth. I want AutoCAD polylines to lift up on Google Earth elevation data. How do I do that?
Thank you the gourgeus tutorial and i need to know we can make these contour's section to produce a profile and save it in DWG Files that mean it can be used in CAD soft . thanks for your help .
Thank you somuch
well explained.. thank you so much

Create raster with 20m resolution --> resize to area you want --> raster to point --> voila!
Very informative
Cheers!
This was awesome! What if we want to generate elevation profiles for this whole area? How do we do that?
It works. Thank you
App mujhe batayegi achchhi Google image konse software se milegi .
Ye software theek hai?
Excellent
helpful, thank you very much
Thank you! but can you get climate data on each elevation point?
thank u so much
I have a geotiff file with more accurate elevations than Google Earth. How can I make Google Earth use these data when exporting the .kml?

Thanks Sir quite helpful, please is it possible to use polygon while drawing a given area instead of lines?
Can we use EAsyGPS in place of ArcGIS?
thanks !
I was receiving an ever when I applied for kriniging?
Great video, Is it possible to do this on QGIS?
Yes, absolutely!
thank you

have you get the solution.. i just need the answer because its related to my study. tq
Great video, how do ceate th using Q GIS
i am not able to use this technique with seafloor height , any way to find that too ?
sea level is technically zero (0)..
Thanks.Sir.
All the best
I do the same process but I faced a problem. when I open the attribute table it shows elevation is 0. what to do?

Check your projection.
I can see the altitude difference in the elevation profile, but when I export to KML or KMZ the elevations just shows zeros
I'm getting a bad map with this which I think is because of this: "Coordinates have measures: No" and I don't know why that is
Hello mate thx for ur efforts.
Can I get a polygon shapefile by this way?
Awesome.
Thanks
It gave me coloured boxes instead if elevation map after using kriging spatil analytical tool
Thank you for the tutorial. So helpful! Can you please help extract DEM for Dimapur District, Nagaland, India?
No
thanks alot
god bless you
:)
Hey, could you let me know where can I find DEM for Antarctic?
thank you sooo much
You are welcome
Gpx to feature conversation, FAILED to execute.
Arcmap 10.3.1
Please can someone guide me??
can be this elevation be also transfer to auto cad?
How to solve the situation that the elevation data is zero in ArcMap?
Where to find gpx in archgis

the best way is to copy down the elevation at each point of interest then mark up anheight map in shades of grey.
