    Thank you. I really loved your tutorials/ subjects and pleased you used different techniques. So nicely done and easy. But, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't believe the land will absorb, as much of the light, as water does , when its dark. So I believe the light reflection, on the closest land should be in a darker value (palm rendition). I can't wait to do more of your tutorials, and like that you teach values so much-it's an aspect that I'm working on (color and values).

    Hi! I have been watching tutorials for beginners for some time now. My attempts to put the information into practice have been between mildly successful and awful. Your tutorial made sense from the beginning. It's a good tempo and each step demonstrates the rule so clearly. Knew lots of this already but never saw the whole picture. I feel the enthusiasm returning to get back to my paint and paper. Thank you!

    Newbie question (or video request!) I'm struggling to work with my palette the right way. Do you clean off your brush before dipping it into every new color? Do you clean your wells after every session? I guess my question is about how to deal with the paint and the wells. When you show your palettes across your videos, some wells look like you don't clean them and some do. Thanks!

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your questions. You should rinse your brush before dipping it into a new colour. I would clean your palette after every session. I would also clean a well in palette if you need to paint a completely different colour.

    This is exactly the watercolour site I need as I am brand new to it, and I cannot draw and cannot paint 😂So I think you have your work cut out with me !
    I think I have already spotted my first mistake, not letting the paint dry properly between stages so I end up with a muddy mess and no contrast.

    First time I’ve painted anything since school, probably 40 years..I struggled to get the colours as intense as yours..is that because I’m using pans or is it me just being frightened of the colour?

    • @KarenRiceArt

      Well done on painting after 40 years Paul. I use tubes and squeeze the paint into pans. You get a better consistency that way.

    I tried your first tutorial after doing some practice. However when I had to do the clouds by lifting off the darker blue with a tissue, the paint had already dried n cud not do the clouds properly.

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  Год назад

      Sorry, the clouds did not lift off because your sky had dried. If you do this technique again lift off the clouds straight after you paint your sky wash. Hope this is helpful and you enjoy your Watercolour journey.

    • @KarenRiceArt

    I'm based in the Netherlands and I'm trying to find a bristle brush to use. I ordered some on Amazon but they ended up with very short handle and longer bristles, and much wider in diameter than yours. Where can I find one like yours?

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  7 месяцев назад

      I would recommend Black Velvet Brushes by Silver Brush (you can purchase them from Jacksons Art Supplies). I wish I’d known about them years ago they have brilliant beautiful points and their loading capacity is amazing! If you were to just buy one, I would recommend the size 10 round. A mop or hake brush is great for wetting large areas. This video may help: ruclips.net/video/JhqZaixsK7A/видео.html :)

    Is water colour n acrylic paint the same

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  Год назад

      Hi, Watercolour and Acrylics are water-based mediums. But they are different water colours are transparent medium. That is not permanent. Acrylics opaque medium that are permanent. You don’t usually use white paint with Watercolour , use the white of the paper.
      You do use white with acrylics. Hope this is helpful.

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  Год назад

      You can add water to Acrylics to make it like Watercolour .
