I really enjoy watching you work. In doing so, you show that it’s a process… not instantaneous.😊

Thank you Kristin that was very relaxing watching your technique in the landscape evolve. When you put the darker values in I thought it gave it so much depth. You have a very easy voice to listen to and interspersed with the music was lovely. Love your choice of colours and it is encouraging to watch in real time. I can’t watch too many sped up time videos it is a headache. Bless you 🙌

Love when you said, "watercolor has a lot of ugly stages". It's so true. Thanks a lot for all the tips in your videos.

Thank you! I’ll write it in the caption as well, but here’s the outline and some of my thoughts:
      1. Sky
Weather- rainy, sunny, cloudy, stormy etc.
Time of day- sunrise, sunset, mid day, night etc.
Objects- birds, planes, tall trees that will break up into the space
      2. Background
Height- mountains, buildings, trees on the horizon,
Perspective- is there anything far away that will also come into the foreground. Train tracks, road, fence, tree line, buildings etc.
focal point- what are we focusing on in the background? A building, a tree, water, an animal, nothing? Etc.
      3. Foreground
Focal point- what catches our attention at the front? A person, road, fence, building, plants, animals etc.
details- things in the foreground are crisp and in focus compared to objects in the background. This is where I list things I need to make sure have sharp details i.e. grass from this tutorial
Movement- this could be the shape of the grass, the fence coming into focus, a road curving across the front like in this video, leaves that are falling, a bird on flight in the foreground etc.
Then I do a little color sample swatch for each section to make sure the colors are cohesive.
      I hope that helps 💕

What a beautiful landscape you painted. I’ll have to watch this a thousand times. Your preparation is unlike anyone’s I’ve seen. You so clearly show how things evolve in your painting. Yes, there was a point in which I would have thrown it away as well. I’m so glad you didn’t. You are a super teacher. Thank you!

thanks for saying that watercolor has a lot of ugly stages….never heard anyone else acknowledge that. Just need more patience with the ‘ugly.’
    you’re a beautiful painter and a grace-filled teacher.

Love this painting and your whole formula process. I want so much to paint my own paintings instead of just following someone else's, but I don't know where or how to start. This was very helpful and I hope you'll do more examples like this. Thank you so much!!

This is lovely! I paint minis to give away as encouragement, and now you've given me a "reference piece" for a specific mini I've had in mind! (But I use white paint pens instead of scratching off.) 🙋‍♀️❤🙂
