  • Caravan breakages or damage to your caravan when remote is one of the most challenging experiences you will face when travelling around Australia and doing the big lap. You do expect some damage due to off-road and remote conditions but it is still a horrible and inconvenient situation when it happens.
In this episode we experience more bad luck and damage when travelling to a remote station on corrugated roads. It requires 4x4 capability to get here and we need to drive to the conditions. Even when being extremely cautious things can go wrong when off-road caravanning.
Fortunately some bad roads lead to some excellent memories and beautiful camping stays near the Ningaloo Coast in Western Australia. Not all is lost and we manage to have an amazing week of travel near the beautiful beaches of the Ningaloo Coast.
We hope our episodes bring you some information on what to expect when travelling around Australia and also as we share our amazing travelling story.
We are really passionate about travel and the beauty of Australia and all it has to offer travellers. Please support our content and help us grow our channel by hitting the subscribe button if you haven't already done so. We would love to bring you along on our journey.

Great video, thanks for sharing, I heard some people were allowing the caravan park water to go through their pipes etc., worse thing to do as their water is not desalinated bore water, hence the salt is going to wreck the plumbing in the Caravans who have chosen to do that, I went to Bullara Station Stay for that reason, an amazing place to camp for many nights

    Hi Guys
Hey Deryck, can I offer a little tip, I'm sure you've got your water tank issue sorted, however if it was yo happen again ( God forbid) that hose that was letting out water from tank two, just bend it over back on itself and cable tie it tight
That will stop the water till you can fix mate, great episode once again gho

Love your positivity Sue, glad you managed to butter your own roll Deryck 😂, your wife is appreciative I'm sure 😅. Tip: buy Sue a nice bottle of champagne and wine with Corks (champagne are larger bulbous and wine skinnier - they make ideal emergency water plugs that can be easily crafted/cut to fit most applications.. I have even drilled one out to make an emergency tap fitting once, and also a pair of hose crimps or small pair of vice grips to clamp off water lines to prevent the loss of water if a fitting or pipe breaks. Also handy should a brake line bursts etc.(Just a tip that I use - take from it what you wish) Great episode guys - fantastic editing Deryck - you both make my day 😊

The hose that was leaking the water from the good tank, all you had to do was fold the hose over a couple of times and use a zip tie on it, or put a bolt or pencil up the hose and reuse the hose clamp.

I've never understood why caravan and tank makers have their fittings in the side of the tanks and nit at the rears, would save that problem.
Also- slice open a pool noodle and cover the exposed pipes and fittings, might save them from being broken also. Safe travels...🤙

The first thing I did when I got our new van was I got underneath and checked what the manufacturer missed and then put a big blob of silicone around each tap screwed into each tank. Then I got some 3mm rubber and made a shroud by sliding in the rubber between the tank and the sheet metal to make a shroud to protect the tap.
BTW I went through 2 tubes of silicone finding things they missed or added more protection.
