Such a huge number of improvements, the parkour in both black flag and AC3 were identical, but they were a bit clunky at times, it was possible to get stuck on the smallest things. But in rogue, they've improved the navigation. The combat looks better as well, my crew used to get in between me and my target way more then they should have. And probably the most notable difference is that shay has a huge arsenal of weapons in comparison to edward that had practically nothing new. So, in short. This game has improved

Tbh with you guys rogue is like one of the best ac games ever created. I would say I had more fun in this then ac3 or ac4. Not saying the other ac games are shit but omg I just love rogue and its story and gameplay. Especially the beautiful map called the North Atlantic!

Rogue really pushes out the graphical power of the ps3 and i can see that for an 8 years old console the ps3 still amazes me with what this pretty old console can do of course the Ps4 is much better but there isn't too much of a diffrence for now later on there will be tho

What I initially assumed was just Black Flag 2.0 and a shadow of what AC Unity is going to be actually is turning out to be a pretty epic game. It looks great for certain and I for one loved AC 3 not right away but the more I played it the more I liked it. As for Black Flag haven't played through it yet but I will before this, what this game looks like to me is the best of both worlds of AC 3 & Black Flag taking the best elements of both seemingly and combining them whilst also shedding more light on what happened in Colonial America pre-Connor era. Which is going to satisfy my & other peoples' curiosity of what happened to the Assassins in colonial America before Connor. Plus the appearance of these older characters is quite interesting especially Achilles & Haythem as they are opposing forces in this game gonna be interesting to see where they go with that plus they threw in Adawele for good measure to have some ties to Black Flag I suppose which is interesting. And Shay himself is quite badass I like his personality & outfit... The fact we get this and Unity is just so badass... Can't wait... Anybody who calls this expensive dlc I say this please give me a break... Some franchises do that but not AC because each of there games get at least 3 years development time...

I am more excited for this game than unity because I have been in love with the naturalistic look of the last two games and this just keeps bringing the love. Unity seems to be a huge overhaul of the feel of ac2 and its 2 successors. I loooooooooove how they're still messing with the American frontier, such a classy place really
I only play new Assassin's Creed's to progress in the beautiful story line, any improvements to the game play is just a bonus. Honestly if every title had stayed the same as the original I would have been satisfied....

The game is like assassins creed brotherhood. The same engine, HUD, gameplay, etc. But it is a new game and is probably, if you liked assassins creed 4, just as much fun.

As interesting as the prospect of playing a Templar is, this game itself is disappointingly Black Flag-esque. Obviously, with Unity coming out, they're not going to try and release a proper secondary game, but they don't need to oversell it so much. We get it, it's Black Flag mixed with multiplayer. We're fine with that, even if you didn't exactly have to ask full price for it -_-
"disappointingly Black Flag-esque." Its been the best looking assassin game and the most beatiful map to free roam for hundreds of hours .. unless you have downs...how is that dissapointing..
rub ber It's disappointing because they're selling it as a brand new game, worth the full price, when it clearly isn't. And it isn't the "best" game, that's always a matter of opinion. If somebody isn't into all the ships, then there's not much for them to enjoy.

If it has its own story and is plenty long like Every AC has been..then ya its , its own game. So is brotherhood / revelations just DLC to ac2 Then? Just cause it looks like black flag doesnt mean its same game. Its same company..of course its going to look a bit the same
rub ber True, but Brotherhood and Revelations each added on at least something to the game, even if those features didn't stay into the next game. So far from the gameplay demos, Rogue has nothing new to it except a few ammunition types (I could've missed something of course, but as far as I know, new shots from the gun and the ship are it)
Wolf6119 I agree, it looks like bloated AC black flag DLC to me. I'm an AC fanboy and I'll still cough up the 60 bucks on release date regardless, but I feel like that's a fact the company is well aware of and are very clearly fully willing to exploit. I'm hoping we at least see some unique scripted events and varying mission structure, a lot more can be done with the whole templar style gameplay besides just having to look out for assassins in haystacks.

I will get this later down the road to play for the story but I will get Unity on day one.

not entirely the same... they kept AC4 mechanics and engine.They added a huge amount of weapons (which got me thinking how come connor never had half of this). they pretty much reskined the AI and improved their positioning . They took some of AC3 (they have NY) but there s more ways to move around like zipwire (again do not know why connor could not)
it seems to me they reskined black flag and did try add in extra features and they also reskined some of AC3, maybe this game actually feel kinda new.... however... the Length of the story.... if this game was really made up in less than a year then it will suffer. WHAT THIS GAME IS.... a centre block to Link AC3, AC4 and UNITY all together.
it took great things from black flag and AC3 put them together and created a very good game (which is set to be short)
A question: Why does Shay also have eagle version? Isn't this ability only inherited among people having consanguinity with Desmond?
No, its just really rare amongst people, anyone can have it, and then again, its just really rare to have it
in ac iv james kidd explains that people have it but they have to train themselves to get it
Yeah it isn't only for those in Desmond's ancestral bloodline its a sense that the First Civ removed when they 'created' humans for 'not being ready', having eagle sense gives some amount of immunity to the pieces of eden. During the war with the First Civ some of them 'made babies' with humans which passed the eagle sense down. So its only those who are sort of hybrid First Civs but many of them may not know that they have the ability in their DNA until it is activated in some way. Desmond didn't have eagle vision at first until he inherited/activated it in his DNA through the bleeding effect. Arno has eagle sense and I don't think he is part of desmond's bloodline. If so then it be a crazy bloodline adding French to Arabic, Italian, british and native American lol, plus irish if shay is part of it too ;)

It had me sold until the end. The American frontier setting didn't work well in 3. A good AC game needs a lot of buildings and stuff, trees just aren't as fun to climb around on. Black flag got it right with the small dense villages. I hope this game environment is better than 3.
am i the only one who thinks that at 3:53 when the emeny ship rams yours, your caracter should fall in another direction? Nothing personal, just physics.

There's no challenge in these game now. I wish this had new gameplay because after completing all of the previous games multiple times you get to know the mechanics which means there is really no strategy involved. You can just rip your way through a bunch of enemies without doing too much stealth or needing to use patience and then if you do get attacked, honestly I try and attract more people because it means I can just exploit the system more and feel like a badass.
LOL so true, with the first AC, the counter timing was strict at best and you do have the ability to kill every single guard you fight but there were times where running away was the only option. Every time there's a cutscene in AC now, where a certain character threatens you like "Move a muscle and my men will slaughter you" I just keep thinking "I could counter kill all of them so easily?"

Yeah, and more than 3 guards can overpower Arno so you sometimes have to run away, but if you're playing coop I think more than 10 is too much

About damn time, I want a reason to use smoke bombs and having to escape . No point in free running away from the guards if you can just slaughter them all and rip off some posters and get away lol .
Assassin's creed rogue could have easily been a standalone dlc. It is a carbon copy of Assassin's creed 4 with a new HUD and a few new weapons. Rogue even lacks multiplayer. While the plot sounds cool it seems like Ubisoft isn't taking this game seriously and is just releasing this for some extra cash...
The amount of new content would've made it like 4 DLCs. Whole new map, whole new story, whole new characters (except few) and a ton of new equipment. Obviously they're not taking this as seriously as they'd take a new game, that's what Unity is for. This is for leaving the last gen gamers something, while they move on to current gen.

Can someone help me out im so confused is this before Unity or after Unity. When does this game come out because on wikipedia it says that this game is before unity in the series. Or is this just for ps3 and xbox 360.

to be quite honest I don't think I'll get this assassins creed, as a full on assassins creed fan who has every game and completed them I think Ubisoft are totally getting sidetracked with other things that don't matter in the game such as : Graphics(up to a certain extent) , side quests, multiplayer and more but what is the point of having a game with all this if it doesn't have the most important thing... The feel of the game, the freedom, the ability to move from place to place and a GOOD FUCKING STORY!

Rogue has the freedom to go from place to place, it also has an amazing sounding story.
Shay is an ex-assassin gone templar, not just because he felt like it. The story trailer depicts his brotherly love for the assassins in the order, and then they betray him (the trailer doesn't say how, but shay shouts "you made me kill innocent people!"). He then vows to get revenge on the assassins. It also indirectly tells the story of Achilles and Hathym. Not only that, but with the assassins after you, you get the feel of the game in a brand new way that let's you feel like all the people you've killed in past games.

By that logic Kingston is in Jamaica, but I keep getting results for Kingston, Ontario. Also, that'd also mean Vancouver is in Washington, but for some reason I get results for Vancouver, British Columbia. Hmmm.. Strange, I wonder if city names are just reused sometimes?
DanishKabby There maybe another Greenwich on the American continent, but I don't think this is the case. We know from Forsaken (The Book) that Haytham travelled frequently to England (London) in order to see Reginald Birch and inform the Templars there of the situation in the Colonies. Shay is induced into the Templar Brotherhood by Haytham and Greenwich is just a few kilometers away from London. So, I think that at some point in time, Shay went to London ( or Greenwich) to see Haytham, or maybe Haytham found him there.
Can't wait finally fighting an enemy who can put up a fight and who is trained I'm tired of fighting enemy's who it only takes 4 strikes to kill the only one that wasn't like that is the first assassins creed.
We all want that... but think about it ..it will still be dissapointing.. it will be dumb AI. not like a real assassin to fight against.Most of the kills in that video he killed 1-2 attacks. Just hope they use smoke bombs / other items to run and fight with thats all im hoping for

Iced Mocha I would say AC rogue,black flag and AC 3 has similar combat. And i think that those are the best in the series :D
+Iced Mocha AC black flag by far has the best gameplay, try AC II and AC brotherhood the story much more interesting than black flag, Ezio and Cesare Borgia are the best protagonist and antagonist in the series
I'm gonna buy AC Unity and wait to see the reviews before buying this one. I liked AC IV but wasn't a huge fan of Naval Combat. And that game was almost all Naval Combat. And the sneaking missions were ANNOYING because they didn't give you the proper means to do so and expected you to be able to do it.

Milking it harder. I love/hate the AC franchise, they have solid games but they are not that special. It's missing the heart that AC2 seemed to have. A real duty to impress the fans is gone.

So it essentially is just more of assassin's creed IV black flag. I will pick it up but not until it drops in price most likely.
So by that logic AC4 was just more of AC3.
Base gameplay for ACIV was very identical to AC3. Free running, combat and the mission structures were nearly identical. Where it differed was how you upgrade the character and of course the revamped and stellar naval combat.
Though this game will largely feature many of the same design and content that ACIV had. We can see this with; attacking forts will be similar, there is hunting for "keys" to unlock a templar armour that has narrative scenes, even collecting certain items to help get the native armour which will Rogues version of the Mayan armour. Not to mention the modern day setting is at the Abstergo entertainment offices where "you" the player are fixing computers, presumably the ones you hacked in Black Flag
Not to mention gameplay design wise we see the air rifle does have same function as the blow dart, but the added grenade launcher adds some fidelity which I can't wait to try out. Of course naval combat will function the same but with the addition of reverse boarding.
Functionally its the closest a smaller story in the AC games has ever been to its predecessor, even more than Brotherhood and Revelations were to AC2.
TLDR: I expect it to be more of the same, and I will enjoy it but I'm gonna wait until it drops down in price due to how similar it will be.

Yeah the animation is pretty much the same, as expected of the AC franchise, I've sadly gotten used to it. There were a lot of things wrong with AC3, one being the frame rates for all platforms apparently.

Seriously, how many ACs was released ? 7 ? And this one brings almost nothing new. How about assasin from WW I or II (with spy base instead of ships) or Modern assassin ... or ever assasssin from future comanding his own spaceship - imagine space game combined with assassin gameplay (stealth technology, infiltrations ... ) Why stay in past forever ?
