When my 5 year old cousin Emily had to get a shot yesterday I used the Funky Monkey comfort position on her & that really helped her not to be scared. Both the Totally Turtle and Funky Monkey comfort positions help her not to be scared of her shots.
My mom was just like “suck it up, your not gonna die” and either way I was gonna get a shot so I just sat there and dealt with it. Personally I’d rather be in control then held down when I was younger😂

I do the butterfly kisses one and my sons handle the shots pretty well. My 11 year old prefers to hug me with his face looking the opposite direction from the shots.
My doctor hugs me and my nurse gives me my shot. I’ve been traumatized ever since I was five because I got six shots just for school. I still can’t get shots without help to this day and it’s a little odd because I’m 13.
@@davidhuff4562 well I don't scream but I really hate injection due of my bad memory so I was scared and my dad squeezed me to calm down. (It doesn't work on me)
@@redandyroo1 : I wasn't a screamer either as a young kid, but I too was scared of those injections and I would cry anticipating & while getting. Always hoped no one in waiting room would hear, but then had to walk out facing them with red flushed eyes. Dad worked, so it was mom who took me to the doctor & sometimes she would clutch me burying my face in her chest, but more often it was me lying face down on exam table, mom at my side, as nurse pulled down my underpants for the injection. Even the offer of candy or small toy to be a "brave boy" didn't calm me much either.
When I was young, it seemed the doctor always put the injection in my bottom. As I got older & there was more muscle development in my upper arm, I understood better why kids need the injection in their backside. Now as an adult if I have a choice, I'll drop my shorts rather than roll-up my sleeve.
1:40 you have to be careful with that one. If she is holding her really tight and putting a lot of weight on her, it can restrict her breathing and cause feelings of suffocation, which will make her panic and struggle more
I always like to watch and expect more pain and makes it easier . When need blood test or blood donation watch the blood come out . Probably because my big brother frequently pulled on my arm hair as a joke , ouch .
Seriously, don’t get a ton of nurses to hold Down ur child, don’t restrain them! I bought my child a special milk That tasted like strawberries and when they drank it they went to sleep for 25 mins and when they woke up they didn’t even know that they had had an injection! DON’T RESTRAIN YOUR KIDS!!!!!!
I wish even my mother could be like that but I am unlucky I have a strict mother I wish I could die I consider myself unlucky, it's a request to every parent give your child the same love. otherwise the child be in depression like me and be in medication like me I see this video every night. I feel happy and cry
I can't get shots or blood work done without me begging for at least 4 or 5 nurses holding me down. My uncle broke a nurse's nose while getting his shots or something like that so... I ain't risking doing that by accident.
This is known to cause long standing trauma and the fact that a parent is participating makes the child lose trust in that parent. Not to mention that you actually have no true idea what is in that vial.. this is a proven fact.
You’re wrong. My sons are 11 and 4. They trust me fully. My 11 year old still runs to me if something scares him or he just wants to cuddle. They trust me fully and completely. I was also vaccinated (and I remember them) and there’s never been a point where I didn’t trust my Mom, she is literally my best friend.
The butterfly one a MA did it for my 2 toddler but he told me hold her arms and he freaking was showing her the needle right infront of her making her nervous & to top it off I just remember he put no alcohol wipe on her leg Im mad & still up thinking of it this is why I dont like other MAs to do her shots just the one who she sees all the time he knows what to do .
Instead of this, consider numbing creams like Emla to manage children's pain better, then they will not be as nervous about shots because they won't hurt. 🤷♀️
What if you are with you dad and do the turtle one ._. 😳 nvm I dont want to know my dad laughs when I get my shot it's not funny I sit by him and hug him he just giggles at me when I'm crying 😟 on October 18 2019 I have to get my flu shot again 😣 I'm also ill so I'm vary dizzy and im not vary happy im sad crying in school alittle hoding my tears in
“Comfort position” is just a politically correct term that describes ways to hogtie your kid so he doesn’t flail and wale while medical personnel stick needles in him! 💉😰😱
Naw i wish getting shots was that easy my 2 year old was getting her blood drawn and it took me and two other nurses to hold her down she bit and kicked the nurses then got blood all on my clothes then ripped the Band-Aid off and tried to run giving everyone the evil eye
another comfort tool is HANDCUFF THE SCREAMING CHILD TO THE TABLE AND TAPE THEIR MOUTH SHUT SO PEOPLE WAITING CANT HEAR THEIR SCREAMS MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Seriously this sounds just as effective as these comfy monkey butterfly huggy things because children are smarter than you think and will see past the monkey funky and realise you’re just holding them down with no escape which makes the feeling WORSE 😂
For fuck sake. If I cried at the doc my mama was like 'it's ok. it'll be over in a second.' If I threw a fit, however, she was like' oh, it ain't a-hurtin' you that damn bad. now, stop showin' your ass and behave!' Comfort positions? If they act up, restrain them and tell them this won't be the last time they'll have to get stuck w/ a needle.

This is restraint, it just feels stressful. I just preferred hugging my parent while it happened.
My comfort position is out the door

COMFORT position? Give me a break. It's restraint. Which is super stressful.
You are a whole dumbass, they literally hug them in those positions

Yeah right. when I get a shot, my dad squeezed me so hard that I hardly breathe and my mum just standing, recording of me screaming.
If you are struggling & screaming, maybe dad feels required to squeeze you hard to get that injection.

Yeah
It's the same thing just from behind, from the side and from the front.
It does nothing and we get in our arm

why would you get it on the leg its more painful on your arms it feels like a poke

This isn’t comfortable at all cause you know what’s coming I have always liked taking it in the arm and watching
When I was 11 years old that was my last time when I stoped crying for shots I really hate shots
I do not look at the needles as I feel nausea and faint
why did she push it in like that at the end your supose to do it slow or the kid could pas out its a thing that can happen
Ya
My mom just held my hand and told me to look at her and not the needle.
Sanjay Kumar shots are typically given in the front of children’s thighs. It’s not until they get their 11 year shots that they put them in the arm.
Guys I feel bad for babies having it but a kid stop being fussy they are fine it’s nothing unless your afraid of needles
I think afraid of needles & the perceived stick is what makes kids fussy with shots. Were you the "brave trooper" growing up when you got injections?
I lay down and listen to Ariana Grande music so i can look away from needles
when i was little the doctor told me not to look at the needle so i looked out the window and she took my shot
Ouch
omg. Tell the to WIGGLE YOUR TOES. This is a “skill” they can take with them throughout life. Wiggle your toes (takes your mind OFF the injection)
I think you are working your way back and your new phone is available
I remember I got a shot and I think my aunty or mum was holding me and I looked away lol
Idk why but every time my mom would do this I would panic and start screaming bloody murder. 😅😂😕
Idk why i think this is restraint.
When I was 4 years old I was scream so loud but I'm 10 years old next w so I don't cry and scream any more

Just tell them to sit there. Its just a shot. You shouldn't have to do some elaborate comfort thing.
Umm what about the arm
Will this work with my mom
I am also your name and sister name
