About the save system. It seems to have two save systems going on at the same time. One, there's a console type checkpoint system, where (should you die) puts you back at the last beacon you passed. Two, it saves your progress as well. Any time you complete a stage to a quest, or find anything of value in a mapped chest, it saves the world state. For example: if you pass a beacon in a corridor on the way to one of the many 'boss' arenas and you defeat the boss and loot the magically generated chest the game will auto-save. Later, should you die to a lowly darkspawn on you way to the next part of the quest it will put you all the way back at that beacon. When you get to the 'arena' you'll find that the boss isn't there and the chest has already been looted (by you). What it doesn't save is the crafting material and junk you pick up that are just lying around. You'll need to re-gather those. The monster that spawn randomly in certain locations aren't saved either. You'll have to kill them all over again (if they re-spawn). All this explains why there's no quick save button. BioWare doesn't think you need one, and I agree -- this thing saves more often I can possibly spam F5. And as best I can tell, manually saving just makes a copy of the latest auto-save, so there's no reason to save unless you're paranoid (like me). This has been my latest effort to sway the YT Algorithm Welonz' way. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
17:45 heads up for puzzles, right now your companions give you hints which is annoying but its cuz you're still in tutorial area. In your gameplay settings you can disable option that says "Hints" that will make them comment on it less in the future. The option in settings says it will remove hints "from screen" so it's unclear to a lot of people, but it actually affects companions dialogues about as well...
such major lore drops on the origin on Blight there at the end conversation with Solas I love it. ofc most dragon age fans have already theorized this for years but I love that it was finally officially confirmed :)
About it being really flashy during combat, I would toggle off some of the HUD elements in the settings! It helps a lot, especially for someone like me because I get distracted and lots of effects floating around gives me a headache. So I played with very minimal HUD stuff on.
20:57 I preferred controller, it felt more natural and it also helped with the skip prompt that shows up during cutscenes every time you accidentally breathe near your mouse.
If I had a nickel for every dwarf voiced by Ali Hillis that gets Titan magic I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
Every gear drop in the game has a set location, but every class has their own item locations. And some items may be named same with some classes, like both Warrior and Rogue has the Dark Shard sword, but they do different things, and are found in different locations.
The World of Thedas part of the Codex are all from previous games. But the rest that update as the game progresses are all new as far as I know. I recommend reading all the new codexes as they come up after missions as they are usually pretty relevant to the most recent events. The old ones can be read when you have some downtime or want a refresher on old lore but are not really necessary if you remember it from the previous games.
18:30 Since you are playing as a rogue you have two swords one main and one secondary weapon, the one you got earlier replaced your other weapon. 21:40 Equipment are themed to factions but there are no race or faction restrictions, thanks to the transmog system you can wear whatever you want. 27:20 Yeah that is true but thankfully you can toggle most of your HUD on/off, i.e. damage numbers, health bar, incoming projectile lines etc...
The trans stuff in this game made me feel really emotional. I'm really glad they decided to have it be a meaningful character choice instead of how other most games have it as a purely cosmetic option (assuming it's even an option at all). 21:00 Personally I found keyboard and mouse worked better than a controller, but I feel that way about most games. 44:05 You missed the note on the chest here. It's some Mass Effect style appearances that were released to celebrate N7 Day. 48:15 There was Shaper Valta in the Descent DLC for Inquisition. She displayed magical abilities after connecting to a Titan.
10:00 this fight is actually really hard on Underdog and Nightmare difficulty.. took me by surprised and I died 3 times before defeating them. Never died that easy before in DA games before and I played them al on nightmare lol. also reminder that your companions will not use their special abilities on their own unless the skill has automatic trigger which you usually get later as upgrade. otherwise at this stage you have to go into wheel and command them to or they will just basic attack.
If she grows into a stone giant and starts munching on crystals we might have a problem. We'll need to get hold of an especially powerful individual, perhaps someone possesed by a rage demon?
Funny you say that about the Divine choice not being referenced coz i literally just walked past someone saying a line that implied they are afraid of the Southern Divine coz they might send assassin’s after them…. that can only one person right!? did anyone else get this line in their game? did the devs just auto pick Leliana as Divine for everyone’s world state????
1:40 Don’t be afraid to get angry, we don’t mind seeing Madderwelonz. 5:30 Do you read a lot of novels irl? 21:20 They’re just a little loot goblin, I’m sure you can relate. 28:43 It’s the Elven gods Algernon and Galileo! 48:55 I’m already shipping Welonz and Harding. I like the height difference, Welonz can pick up her girlfriend. Bellara seems okay too. 59:00 Dragon Age fans, don’t crucify me but I’ve never liked Solas’ arrogant bald ass. Fuck him. And I’m saying that as an elf main. I feel like Solas is the kind of guy who would speak Latin that he learned in high school in everyday conversations. Where is mah boi Fenris?
nah you are def. not alone. a lot of ppl hate Solas’ ass and were disappointed when the name of the game changed coz they were worried he wouldn’t be an enemy so they might not be able to kill him lol
"Look there it goes!" while Welonz is too busy looting. At 21:05 you missed that small chest, though. Oh look, romance option. "Once I see that, I don't care about the other crap anymore..." kinda illustrates something about the dialogue system. The end of the world is nigh! One has to lie down, the other has to relax. No worries, no hurries. What else did Dwarves forget? I dunno. Beer? Haven't seen beer. Also sounds like Varric just forgot about all the other people. As for being a rogue or scoundrel? Didn't see Rook act like one. Nor pick any locks.
not Welonz actually missing on stuff 😭 there were 2 ME references. You've missed on Harding's little note looting N7 armor and on Bellara's calibrations
You should buy upgrades to gear you've got equipped when you come across them. Every time you find the same item it's level goes up by 1. For example: if it's level 3 and you buy another one from a vendor it goes up to level 4. If you find another one in a chest it goes up to level 5. If you didn't buy a copy from a vendor the one in the chest would only upgrade it to level 4. Yes, controller is the way to go. (Keep in mind this is coming from someone who developed carpel tunnel syndrome from 30+ years of keyboard/mouse usage.)
That's not how items work. Finding new copies of an item upgrades their level to match the Caretaker's Workshop level (which could even make an item go straight from +1 to +10) as well as increasing their rarity by one stage.
I don't like that "choosing your story through the dialogue wheel" feature. I think it lacks creativity, instead of gradually revealing those informations through meaningful dialogue with your companions, they just dump it all there in one go in you room, it's so disappointing, hell even having that conversation with just Varric would have been better. If they really wanted the items to be there, Rook could have shown them off and have a conversations over them and not talking to herself.
very light spoilers? (but i'll put it underneath anyway just in case) there are time you can with companions, i've had them one that sticks out if you romance emmerich you can tell him you're a virgin and the look he gives elkasdjlasdjalwsd lol any extra stuff is good in my opinion idk

Flirt to your heart's content Welonz, they will warn you when you are locking in a romance

The Titans were like the dinosaurs, and the lyrium is the oil.
not really lyrium is blood of the titans lol
@mayaamis Yes, it came from them.
@@PVzirou oh I see your point now 😆
Dagna is going to be the biggest Harding fan girl
On a floating piece of a ruined city at the site of a ritual summoning ancient gods: weird place, there’s sunshine AND rain

No Hurlocks are blighted humans.
Shrieks are blighted elves.
Genlocks are blighted dwarves.
And Ogres are blighted Qunari.
Hope everyone's doing well today

To Welonz I can only assume this was the most intriguing revelation so far, lol
you know me so well

43:25 When you get new armour you can toggle between the default appearance for it and the one you select from your wardrobe.
Harding and her storyline and all the dwarven lore is easily my favourite part of the game.
Every gear drop in the game has a set location, but every class has their own item locations. And some items may be named same with some classes, like both Warrior and Rogue has the Dark Shard sword, but they do different things, and are found in different locations.

"magical dwarf"? ... sandal, anyone? 🙂... enchantment!
You have a very soothing voice

There really is something peculiar about this Wellens being so tall.
It's a common name in Thedas, I know, but still.
The trans stuff in this game made me feel really emotional. I'm really glad they decided to have it be a meaningful character choice instead of how other most games have it as a purely cosmetic option (assuming it's even an option at all).

The Descent DLC was soooo good and I am so glad it wasn’t just a one off thing that they never mentioned in the games again.
"Oh that sounds pretty good. Free crits."
Who are you and what have you done with Welonz?
I guess she chose it because it's not chance-based like critical damage in most other games. 😀
10:00 this fight is actually really hard on Underdog and Nightmare difficulty.. took me by surprised and I died 3 times before defeating them. I'd argue Vivienne more than capable of doing the same thing. She's pragmatic to a fault.
@ nah there is no way the person that said it would ever be afraid of Vivienne and I would argue is close friends with her.
Dagna.

Why choose the heart option if you wanna say something else? It's not like you have to pick up all the heart options to start a romance anyway.
"Look there it goes!" while Welonz is too busy looting. At 21:05 you missed that small chest, though.
