Ahh! Again with the “look up” “look at my fingers” i swear you saying that makes this tutorial more friendly and actually feel like you’re here teaching us!
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic This! I bought a ukulele 3 days ago and been watching ur videos, so far you're the only teacher where it feels like im actually in class because of those things you say haha very good teacher
I absolutely looooove the way you teach, makes it feel like I’m right there with you and if I hadn’t already known how to play the song I would’ve learned it so well with you. Keep it up ❤️❤️❤️
Dinosaur Kris thank you, Kris!!! I really appreciate the compliment. I have to give the credit to my professors (I went to college for music education) 😃
Every time you say "Look up, look at my fingers," I'm always looking down! Thank you SO much for that! It's so helpful and makes me feel like I'm not learning this alone!!
I got a uke 3 days ago and all the tutorials are just telling me what cords to do and not how to do them or how the strumming works and your teaching sounds so natural like you’re right here with me and I know all the chords used in this song now! Keep up the good work. I just subscribed :)
This is good Ms.B thank you, I've learned a lot. Like how you broke it down into sections. This was like five or more tutorials pack into one. Ghost strumming is good way to remember the pattern. Slowing the speed helped. This is going in the uku journal. About half way through there was an add. It ask if I want to skip it, I didn't. I used the opportunity to shake out my fingers and stretch. When you were back I was all set to go. Good timing. Happy day.
Oh!!! That’s a great way to use the ad space! I really appreciate that!! I will buy treats for KitKat and Arigato with that added income ;) Glad you liked this longer tutorial. Sometimes tutorials are short, sometimes longer to give you more info :)
I got my first uke last Christmas. It’s simple uke for beginners. I had 3 songs I wanted to learn in uke. Riptide is my first piece to learn. Great teaching!
I love that you try to make songs your own! Before you posted this tutorial, I only knew the chords and the two strumming patterns. But now you that you are adding the fingerpicking to the song, it is sounds so much more fun! A great tutorial, as always!
Bernadette Teaches Music I am glad you are doing it now :) Your ukulele looks gorgeous by the way! I was thinking of buying an Enya ukulele somewhere in the future, but it looks like Amazon does not deliver these to my country. Hopefully, I can look for it on a different website. Do you know any other ukulele brands that are similar to Enya?
Bernadette Teaches Music Thank you for taking your time to answer the comments! Amazone is able to ship a few Enya ukuleles to my country, but sadly not the ones I am looking for. I will have a look at the Fender ukuleles.
At 2:40, solo, I was so thankful!! I saw another solo on another channel and I thought it was so hard cause you need hammer ons and pull offs, but now with this I impress all my family😍 Luv u Ms. B
Best Riptide lesson I have seen! Thanks Ms B for teaching an ukulele favorite 🙃 I love how you reminded about how short your nails have to be, super helpful, since I cut mine and they just keep coming back 😉! And this is the first place where I learned the picking from so YAY!
Emily Teigland hey!! That means you’re healthy! Nails, hair and skin goals!!! I have students who keep coming to class with long nails, so I figured it’s happening with my RUclips students too 😉
0:47 is the hardest part! "Look at my hand" when there is the most beautiful lady to look at :P The best part starts @ 10:52 - this is just astonishing! You sang the whole song and it was amazing! Loved it!!
Hey Bernadette! I've been following your uke tutorials for 2 months now (since I got a new uke) and the amount of progress I've made shocks me! And it's all thanks to you! You're tutorials are so useful and so easy to follow and I can't wait to see future tutorials and keep improving at the uke. Thank you, love from India!!!🥰
I don’t know what you weren’t sure about this tutorial! Loved it!! The best part is your fingerpicking style! You’re leaving me with a lot of homework for the weekend!! 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you so much, Franca! I kept messing up the instructions and ended up recording over 40 minutes of video. While I was recording, I drank a tea that dried my mouth and made it impossible to sing 😂😂😂pero bueno, aqui estamos!
learnt this in 2022, thank you you're pretty easy to learn from. Just picked up Ukulele a few days ago, thank you for the videos! Past present and future
I get so excited when I get a notification for a new video😁 I have been guilty of stopping my strum to change chords until I knew the song really well so your tip flipped a light switch for me haha... it will definitely make my playing seem better and less amateur (something that bothered me and often made me feel discouraged before). Thanks! 😘
Hannah B Hannah! Thank you so much!!! I’m so glad you turned on notifications. It makes my heart happy to see a community of friends here as soon as the video is out ❤️😘
I've had my ukulele for about a year but I've never been patient enaugh to learn how to play until now. You seem to be a great teacher and your tips are very useful. Thank you for remembering about strumming. Lots of RUclipsrs skip it but it's important for less talented people like me XD Keep going! I just wish you made more tutorials for songs that I know. Greetings from Poland!
I really appreciate your videos. Thank you! I just wanted to give feedback that It made learning this song even harder when you introduced “your style” fingerpicking, and played it that way at the end.
Thank you! This is very helpful! I've watched other tutorials on this, but they don't seem to be as specific as yours! I am very confident in learning this :)
Jennifer Huela thank you so much, Jennifer! I really hope this helps you learn. Keep me updated on your progress. It’s always fun to hear how you guys are doing 😊
You increased speed of teaching compared to your tutorials in the very beginning - I do like that and until now I can follow along. Now coming to this tutorial - every part is well explained and easy to follow. I do like that you point out what is important and what the player has to keep an eye on. In this tutorial I was missing a written down measuring (counting???) under or above the strumming and picking pattern. I think this helps developing the personal skills. At the very end when you did a complete play-along it would have been helpful (for me) if the strumming pattern would have been displayed. I'm always that "nervous" that I forget what I just practiced. But I know that all that is a lot of work for you... ... so... as always you did a very good job! 👏 Thank you very much for sharing. Greetings from Germany 🙃
Teeum5 thank you thank you thank you for all the feedback. It is GOLD to me to hear from you what can make the videos better. I love getting all the sweet comments too, but I always wonder how your playing experience was and how I could make it better. Thank you 😊 😘 hugs and kisses to Germany
I’m really liking this tutorial! It seems like the song should be very easy because there aren’t many chords, but I love how you go from fingerpicking to strumming and back. Simple song, but challenging enough for this beginner to feel like I’m accomplishing something when I can get the strumming patterns right 😁😁
you're amazinggg ,I went through so many riptide tutorials and yours was the bessttttt,I mean I picked up really quickly, thank you so much!God bless you

Great tutorial Miss Bernadette! I found the song pretty easy and fun. I only need to practise the fingerstyle to master it. By the way, I still can't get over this top. I hope to recreate it one day with my sewing skills!

BTW do you have a video for this song for the baritone?

awesome!! 😭😭😭 You are amazing!! There was a time in the video when I just stopped strumming and and kept on listening the song.... It's very hard for me to play!!
I can finish the song now!!! Finally Lol and I memorised 50 chords for ukuleles and now I have a concert ukulele blue stained) Tenor ukulele (printed... And Baritone ukulele ( tattooed) and I used to even own a Black 21, Inch cheap soprano for about a Month lol
I'm doing this as the homework for one of the days of the 30 day uke challenge and I'm wondering how many days should you stay working on a song while you still aren't totally happy with it before moving onto the next thing. What do people think? Brand new beginner here. Started at Christmas.

It's very hard for me to play!!
Ritesh Chaudhary where did you get stuck, Ritesh? I’m so sorry 😭😭😭
No ma'am... I wasn't stuck anywhere.. It was like.. my hand just stopped and I kept on listening... I mean to say.. it was so mesmerizing!!

John Borgen thank you, John! I went to school for music education ❤️ it’s a testament to my education at Cal Poly Pomona :)
I'm doing this as the homework for one of the days of the 30 day uke challenge and I'm wondering how many days should you stay working on a song while you still aren't totally happy with it before moving onto the next thing. What do people think? Brand new beginner here. Started at Christmas.
